Chapter 6

Rosalina's Point of View

I had never been to a wedding before, but even if I had, I am sure no wedding would have been as amazing as my mom's. Jeffrey gave my mom everything she wanted. I was sure he spent a fortune.

They held the wedding in a huge room at Jeffrey's house. There were a lot of people there that my mom and I didn't know. Kelly told me that most of the people that were at the wedding lived in the house. It was weird to me that so many people lived there. She said they were all like family. My mom and I had no family, so there was no one else at the party. My mom didn't invite her friends that worked at the Sunset Strip Club with her where she bartended at. I was sure it was because she didn't want Jeffrey to meet them. I knew she thought they would hit on him and she was most likely right. I was sure Jeffrey didn't know my mom worked at the strip club.

"This looks so beautiful," Kelly said. We were sitting in the front, waiting for the wedding to begin.

"I agree," I said

"So, how do you feel about our parents getting married?" Kelly asked and I shrugged

"Shocked mostly. I didn't know about it until a couple days ago when your did and my mom told me that we would be moving in with you guys," I replied

"Kane and I just found out yesterday. It was a shock for us as well," Kelly said

"And how do you feel about that?" I asked

"I am happy as long as my dad is happy. He hasn't been with anyone since my mother passed away," Kelly said. Before I could respond, the music started playing and Jeffry and Kane walked up to the Alter. They both had on white Tuxedos.

I couldn't take my eyes off Kane. He was so Handsome. Everyone stood when my mom started walking down the aisle. Jeffrey had made a suggestion that I walk with my mom down the aisle since she doesn't have any family but my mom said she didn't want to put any pressure on me. Well, at least that is what she said while Jeffrey was there. Once he left she had told me she didn't want me to walk with her because she knew I would ruin everything. I didn't let her words get to me. That was just how my mom was.

While the priest was speaking, I couldn't help but look at Kane. I was shocked to see he was already staring at me. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. It was like we were the only people in the room.

The sound of everyone clapping made me take my eyes off of him and remember where I was. Everyone was congratulating my mom and Jeffrey as they walked out of the room.

"Come on. Let's head outside to the backyard. That's where the reception will be," Kelly said

"Okay," I replied and we headed outside.

"You must be so happy for your mother," A female around my mom's age who lived in the house said

"Yes, I am," I replied. It had been twenty minutes since the wedding, and my mom and Jeffrey still hadn't made it outside. I didn't even want to think of what they might have been doing.

"So, your mom said that you are from Indiana. What did your mom do before coming here?" the lady asked. I knew she was trying to be noisy.

"Um," I started to say but was cut off.

"There you are. I was looking for you." I turned around to see Kane standing there. He still had his suit on.

"You were looking for me," I asked, shocked. Why would he be looking for me.

"Yes, I need your help with something," Kane said and then he looked at the lady.

"Please excuse us, Jaime," Kane said

"Of course, Al... I mean, Mr. Kane," Jaime said. Kane took my hand and I couldn't help but gasp as I felt pleasurable sparks go through my hand where he touched. I had never felt anything like it, and it was scaring me that I didn't pull my hand out of his. Honestly, I didn't want him to let me go. Kane stopped walking once we were in the hallway and just stared at me.

"Um, where is my mom?" I asked

"Excuse me?" Kane said

"You said she needed my help with something. Where is she?" I asked

"Oh, yeah. Um, I just made that up so that I could get you away from Jaime," Kane said

"Why did you do that?" I asked confused

"I could tell you needed some help getting away from her. She is very noisy if you haven't noticed," Kane said, and I laughed

"I noticed, alright. Thanks for helping me,"I said

"You don't have to thank me. I was happy I could help," Kane said and I smiled at him. We were both silent for a while, just looking into each other's eyes.

"Care to go for a walk with me?" Kane asked

"What?" I said

"I could use a walk, and I would like for you to join me," Kane said

"Oh, sure," I replied, and Kane and I headed to the front door to leave the house. I followed Kane as he led us into the woods. We walked in silence. It was dark outside and all you could see were the stars and the moon, which was only half showing. We ended up stopping by a lake, and Kane and I sat on the bench.

"It's nice out here," I said

"Yeah, this is where I like to go when I want to be alone," Kane said. It made me wonder why he brought me there.

"So, how do you feel about all of this?" Kane asked

"All of what?" I asked

"Your mom and my dad getting married, and you having to move all of a sudden," Kane said

"My mom is happy, so that's all that matters," I said, and Kane looked at me

"What about you. Are you happy?" Kane asked and I looked at him. He was already looking at me and it seemed like he was looking into my soul. It was like he could read my feeling or something.

"My happiness doesn't matter," I replied and I stood from my seat. "We have been gone for a while. I am sure my mom is wondering where I am. We should leave," I said and I started walking away before he could reply.
