Chapter 24

LORENZO'S POV

I was back in time, reliving my past and every bit hurt me, pierced holes into my heart but I was doomed to forever endure until I was finally killed.

I heard voices in the background. One belonged to Sheba, the other I wasn't sure, but if I was to take a guess, it would be Lincoln. He was afterall the only one who could get past my barrier. Being a fairy and Luciana's godfather.

“What was he looking at? How did he get stabbed!” He yelled, confirming my suspicions, he was Lincoln.

“We…we were fighting and he had to protect me and while doing it, he was stabbed before he knew what was happening.” Sheba explained, whimpering.

I could imagine Lincoln rubbing his temples as he spoke.

“This bastard, always behaving like this.”

“I'm sorry.. it's all my fault.”

Lincoln sighed out loud. “Its not your fault, his curse was bound to catch up to him anyway.”

“What exactly did he do? I've always wondered, he always looks so distant and lost like he's in another universe.”

“Among the three of us, he committed the greatest sin. He has been alive for who knows how long,he's a lonely man but no one ever knows.”

“Even longer than you?”

“Yes. Even longer than me.”

I heard all their conversation but they had no idea. I had indeed been around for a long time. But no matter how long it was, I couldn't forget. I wasn't permitted to forget.”

I drifted back into my slumber, no, I knew where I was going back to.

……

“Prince Caspian, is it supposed to take as long as that to relieve yourself?” Barak asked raising his brows.

“Normally it takes longer.” One of the guards replied, chuckling as he did that.

I smiled to myself as I remembered Luciana. Her name alone made me imagine things I didn't think I could imagine.

“The king has asked to see you.” General Theo informed as he walked closer to me.

General Theodore was my close and personal friend. He was a workaholic who took protecting the kingdom to another level.

“Its important,your highness.”

I nodded grimly as I walked over to him and he led the way. Other guards were about to follow us but Theo stopped them.

“I'll be the one to accompany Prince Caspian.”

We walked out of the garden together, our faces grim as we did.

“The prince from Gilgamesh is coming today, and as a matter of fact, he is already here.” Theo informed.

I whipped my head and faced him. “He's here!”

“Yes.”

I sighed out loud, pinching my eyebrows. “I hate that guy. He's annoying and thinks he's so amazing.”

Theo chuckled. “But you guys are friends.”

“That is true but he has always been that way, and we haven't seen each other for the past ten years, who knows how much he's changed?”

“Rest assured, your highness. Your father will take care of everything,no matter what he might want to suggest.”

I scoffed. “I'm tired of my father taking care of everything for me. I want to be able to make decisions for myself, afterall I will soon be the new ruler.”

Theo sighed at my comment.

We arrived at the alpha's palace. It was large, with wolf sculptures at the entrance and the moon hanging directly above it. It was a work of art. One that the moon goddess herself personally appreciated.

I went inside and left Theo outside. I turned back to him and he gave me a thumbs up sign. With a sigh, I proceeded to meet the alpha.

His palace was dark but had chandeliers, no candles were placed inside them. The chandelier only worked at night, when the moon was out. The light of the moon reflected into the chandeliers, giving it an ethereal glow and feel. It was gifted by the moon goddess herself.

My father sat on his throne, his white robes splaying over the throne. He had an expression that I couldn't read. He lost the ability to show his emotions ever since his mate, my mother, died in a rogue raid by the vampire clan. He looked terrifying, especially with the glint that never left his eyes.

“Alpha.” I greeted, bowing as I approached him.

His gaze lingered on me like he was contemplating on what to do with me. I felt chills as he did.

“You may stand.”He ordered in his alpha tone.

I immediately stood, unable to resist.

He stood from his throne, walking towards me, slowly, gracefully like an alpha that he was. I began to doubt if I would ever have as much aura as he did.

He got to me and raised my face so I could stare at him.

My eyes farted back and forth, unable to look him straight in the eye.

“Look!” He yelled.

I summoned my courage and faced him, our blue eyes meeting each other. My legs were shaking as I did that because looking at your alpha in the eyes could be considered as challenging him.

For a moment, I considered turning my face away but then something flickered in his eyes. Pain? Regret? Concern? Remorse?

I couldn't tell because his eyes went back to normal as soon as it flashed.

“You will become the next alpha when I die, you must have the guts to become the alpha. You must develop the power, earn the fear, just like Duncan.” He completed, going back to his throne.

I let out a sigh I didnt know I was holding when he finally left.

“Wait, Duncan? What happened to Duncan?” I questioned, becoming curious.

“He challenged his father for the alpha position and won.”

I let out a small gasp. “He did that to his own father, that is heartless.” I whispered to myself.

Wolves had good hearing and for a moment,I had completely forgotten about that fact. My father had heard my words.

“He considered his father and did what was the appropriate thing to do. A pack cannot have a weak alpha. It will be destroyed instantly.”

“That is still sad.” I muttered.

“I wish you'd challenge me for the alpha position.” He announced.

I kept mute, unable to reply him as I knew what his response to my response would be.

“You will attend the mating ceremony that is to come up during the crescent moon. You need your mate to take the alpha position.

My thoughts trailed back to the cute girl I had seen earlier and I didn't want a mate if it wasn't going to be her. I felt a connection with her, it wasn't the mate bond but I wanted to believe that it was it.

My father dismissed me and it felt like a huge boulder had been taken off from my shoulders.

I knew my father thought I hated him but the truth was just that I had too much respect for him.

Theo had left by the time I came back and I decided to go to my chambers.

I was talking through the large hallway when I felt a presence. I raised my head slowly to inspect and I was stunned.

He stood tall and proud, with a dark gaze lingering in his eyes. He had changed so much from the last time I saw him.

“Duncan.”

“Good to finally meet you.” He greeted with a smile that lacked warmth in it.

I didn't want to admit it but I was scared, he gave off the aura, the same aura my father gave off, someone ruthless and merciless. He looked cold and distant, and then I finally realized that he had indeed changed.

……..

I was jolted back to reality when water splashed on my face.

“I cant believe that actually worked.” A female voice said.

I opened my eyes groggily and found three faces staring at me,nine eyes, of different colours. It was not a pleasant sight to behold.

I rose from the bed slowly, clutching my stomach as I did.

“How is my sister? How long was I out? What's the latest update?”

“Well, you were out for an entire day, almost two days actually but you're back.” Phoebe informed.

“Two days! So, that means that today is the full moon!”

Phoebe nodded slowly, replying me.

“Its the full moon, it is the freaking full moon!” I worded, panicking as I stood up from the bed, ready to meet Luciana even though I wasn't physically strong.”

“Well….about her..” Lincoln spoke, rubbing his neck anxiously.

“What?”

“She has been kidnapped.”

“What!”

“Yes, the situation is really dire. In the end, I had to reveal myself to her as her fairy godfather so she wouldn't lose hope. I promised to save her but I do not think I am strong enough to free her.”
