Chapter 3

Duncan's POV

Arielle came over to my house the next day when she heard what happened.

She hugged me and planted a kiss on my lips and I could feel my stress slowly dissipate.

"Are you okay? I heard someone tried to poison you last night."

"I'm fine." I replied.

Her beautiful face regained some colour and I sighed. How could I leave her just because of a stupid mate bond.

I pulled her closer and gave her another hug, mouthing the words." I love you."

"I love you too. "She replied.

"Arielle." I called. I loved the way her name rolled off my tongue.

"Hmm.."

"If...if you were to get a mate, would you leave me for him?"

"No!" She answered affirmatively."Why do you ask? "

"Sheba came here yesterday..."

"Sheba? The seer?" She asked again.

I nodded.

"What did she say?"

I nuzzled my head against her chest."She said I felt that pain because of the mate bond, she said my mate was in danger, almost dying in fact."

Arielle scoffed." Mate bond? You?"

I nodded. "That's what she said."

"She's delusional. You're over a hundred and fifty years old and you're just feeling the mate pull. She's crazy." She said, laughing out loud.

"My thoughts exactly."

I was about to say something when Damon barged in.

"Supreme Alpha. I'm really sorry to interrupt but we have found the person who poisoned you." He reported.

"I knew it." Arielle said with a smirk.

Damon directed us to the dungeon where the traitor was kept.

"Let me take away his life force." Arielle said facing me.

"There's no need for that darling. I'll break every single one of his bones and make him beg for death. He will seek death, but will not find it. He dared to poison me!"

"Good choice bae." Arielle said with stars in her eyes.

I was a gentle and obedient wolf when I was with Arielle because she was my world. The gentle part of me was for her alone.

"You will find out today why I'm called the demon wolf." I muttered, entering the dungeon.

Luciana's POV

It had been three months since I was chased from my house and had been staying with Celina. I had never been happier in my life.

My parents never bothered to find me and I didn't really care. I didn't consider them family anymore.

I was in the kitchen, doing the dishes when I heard Celina come in with a squeal.

"You got a job!" She said shouting from the living room.

I left the kitchen and dried my hands hurriedly, rushing to meet her.

"Really? Did I get a job?" I asked jumping up. " Do I finally have the means of earning money?" I asked again.

She nodded with a smile. "I have no idea why I'm this happy, but I'm happy for you darling. I'm really happy!" She said, giving me a warm hug.

Celina sat me down after we had calmed down from our excitement.

"Before you resume , there are a few things you need to bear in mind. Do you understand?"

I nodded, paying full attention to the next statements she made.

"First off, you have to change your last name. You cannot use El Salvador as your last name anymore. "She informed me. "I know it might be hard to let go of your identity, but it must be done."

She really thought I would think twice before discarding my parents like they discarded me.

"That will not be a problem, I already had plans of changing my name anyways. " I told her.

"Are you sure? I know you're still hurt by the acts of your own parents but they're your parents nevertheless. "

I clenched my fists. Parents?

Parents don't do what was done to me to their kids. They never once acted like parents.

I smiled at her. "It doesn't matter either way, I still need to change my name."

She sighed and continued speaking."Your new name will be Luciana Summers. Hope you like it?"

I nodded, telling her I did.

She proceeded to tell me other things. She told me to introduce myself as her cousin in case anyone asked, she said I shouldn't reveal my identity as a white wolf, since I was going into the black wolf territory.

I was going to be a personal assistant to a lady called Arielle. She was a black wolf and the girlfriend to the alpha of the black wolves. I had absolutely no business with all those details but I listened anyway.

.................

It was Monday and my first day of work. Celina dropped me off on the way, she dropped me off at a mansion.

The mansion was very big and looked classy, way classier than the one my parents owned.

The exterior brimmed with architectural intelligence, and had an imposing feel like it absorbed all the light that came closer to it.

It had tall windows that looked like empty eyes that were staring at you. Deep into your soul.

The entrance was grand. There was beautiful ironwork at the tip of each stair with gargoyles on the hand way. The door was big and grand with two wolf statues, seemingly standing guard.

I breathed out and opened the door. The inside was breathtaking and I found myself speechless as I tried to capture the beauty with my eyes.

"Miss Luciana Summers?" A voice called.

I turned my head and saw a man smiling gently at me.

"I'm Desmond, the butler of this mansion." He said, introducing himself. "Young Miss Arielle has ordered me to take you to her study room."

I smiled a little and followed him.

Duncan’s POV

I was getting ready to leave the mansion when my nose picked up something funny. It had a lavender and cinnamon scent.

It wasn't a funny smell, rather it was intoxicating. I felt my wolf twitch and panic.

I hurriedly went down stairs and I didn't find anyone but the scent was strong here. I followed the scent and it took me to Arielle's study room.

A scrawny looking person was sitting and tapping her feet against the floor anxiously.

My beast purred in satisfaction as I watched her.

Desmond came over to her side to give her something to drink, and while all this was going on, he mistakenly touched her hands.

I was about to go ballistic on him when I felt someone hugging me from behind. It was Arielle.

My wolf was disgusted but I ler my rationality take control.

"Who's that?" I asked, pointing at the girl.

"Oh, that's my new assistant.Manolo is taking maternity leave , and I need a helper. So I hired her.

"I don't trust her. "I muttered to myself

We moved closer to the girl and when she saw us, she stood immediately offering a bow.

"My..my..my name is Luciana Summers." She stuttered.

"Nice to meet you too." Arielle greeted back with a smile.

The girl kept her head down, not wanting to see any of us.

Arielle smiled and faced me. "Isn't she just cute, darling? "

I kept quiet for a while then replied "No, she isnt as cute as you are so she isn't cute." I said with a small frown.

She punched my arms slightly and said, "She really is cute."

"She isn't." I said again.

Arielle rolled her eyes and turned back to the girl.

I lied. She was extremely pretty and I had no idea why I did that.

I turned to start leaving but Arielle stopped me."Where are you going? "

"I have to work darling." I said planting a kiss on her cheeks and then I left.
