Chapter 5

Lenato's POV

I walked in the garden, inhaling the air and I could feel all the stress disappear.

"Man! The air sure is fresher, now that the vermin isn't around anymore. " I said, breathing out.

Lorenzo slowly raised his head from the book he was reading and glared at me.

"Her name is Luciana, bitch!" He said, facing his book back.

I groaned with annoyance." The vermin isnt my sister. I have no sister. There's no way a member of my family is as worthless and as pathetic as she is."

Lorenzo clenched his fists and stood up. He raised his hands to hit me, but he stopped.

"Sharing the same space with you is a gradual killer. I fear I will lose my sanity if I'm near you. "

He turned to leave."Lenato!" He called. "The next time you make such comments about her, I promise, you will find yourself in hell. It's where you belong anyways." He said, shrugging his shoulders and leaving.

I had a little frown on my face as he left and I knew he was smiling.

I was so angry so I decided to leave the garden. I could smell him, and his lemon scent was making me annoyed and more angry.

I went to my father's study room and saw a stranger inside. The person was backing me, so I couldn't see my face.

"Who are you?"

The person turned and it was a lady. A beautiful lady.

"I'm Helena." She introduced herself, smiling softly.

"What are you doing here? How did you get here? Why are you here?" I asked, bombarding her with questions

She chuckled softly. "Chill, I'm not a thief or anything like that. I'm the daughter of Dick Conran."

I burst out laughing.

She had a small pot on her face.

"I do not care if you're Dick's daughter or anything like that. What the hell are you doing here?"

Helena sighed out loud. "I'm here for a business meeting. Geez! I'm not going to steal your father's gold or silver."

"Ohh!" I said, nodding my head. "You're Helena Conran, Mr Dickson's daughter."

She rolled her eyes and gave me a look that read; That's what I just said idiot.

"My father isn't present at the moment. I'm rather surprised that he let you into his study. He doesn't let anyone in."

"Then, why are you in?" She asked, raising a brow.

"I'm a special son."

"Really?" She asked, disinterested.

"Of course." I replied enthusiastically.

"I always thought it was Lorenzo." She said with a smirk.

My lips twitched slightly."Shut it! My Father will see you downstairs. " I said, annoyed.

I showed her out the door and she refused to leave. I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Leave!" I yelled, scaring her.

The fear was evident in her eyes, and she started crying?

"What's wrong with you?" I asked, still frowning and her tears intensified.

"What the fuck is wrong with women?" I muttered under my breath as I walked up to her.

"Why are you crying Helena?" I asked her, as gently as I could.

"You're scaring me." She said, tears still falling off her cheeks.

"What did I do?" I asked her, because I was seriously confused.

She looked at me like I was insane and continued crying, this time, she even sat on the floor and bawled her eyes out.

"You don't know how to treat women. "She said , still crying.

I became extremely scared. I had no woman that I ever needed to treat well, except my mother. And, my mother was not a crybaby. It would be safe to say she was a man in woman form.

I never considered the Vermin a human, much less a woman to treat her special. The female servants were just servants, so they got the treatment a servant received.

I racked my brain, trying hard to think of what Lorenzo would do. I hated that I had to think of him.

It was utterly disgusting.

I patted her head, mouthing, "there, there. It's okay, there's no big bad wolf here to eat you."

She calmed down a bit and I breathed a sigh of relief.

"I should swallow my pride and ask Lorenzo to teach me his ways." I said to myself again.

"Will you tell me now, why did you cry?"

She sniffled." It's like I said before, you were scaring me."

"How did I scare you?"

"First off," She said, raising her index finger." You laughed at my father's name. Second, you shouted at me like you were going to kill me. Third, your eyes. You need to watch it. It's too scary."

I grabbed my hair, about to pull it out due to frustration and confusion." So, that's why you cried?"

She nodded like a little child.

I was dumbfounded.

"Women are fragile creatures. Unlike men." She said, nodding to herself.

She stood up, and after dusting her bottoms. She turned to leave.

She stopped at the door. "I'll be going now, since your dad isn't around. I'll be around tomorrow. "She said, winking as she walked out.

I was speechless for the next few seconds.

"Women are truly the most complicated beings around." I muttered to myself, like I had just discovered a secret of the world.

Helena's POV

I walked out of his house slowly and got to my car. I picked up my phone and dialed someone.

After ringing three times, the person answered the call.

"How did it go?" He asked.

"It went well. Although, if I hadn't used the Artificial tears, we'd have been cooked." I reported.

"That's why I chose you. Your instincts are top notch." He said over the phone.

"But, why did I have to act like a crybaby? It's disgusting. Besides, men are usually attracted to strong women."

"That's not the case for him. He's been surrounded by strong women all his life, so, women acting strong is a normal thing for him."

I nodded in understanding.

"Come back. Your job is done for now."

I hung up the call and couldn't help but feel disgusted.

I took a wet wipe and wiped my hair before driving off.

Duncan's POV

I was having a meeting with the clan alphas when Sheba barged in.

She gave me a look and I sighed.

I excused all the clan alphas so it was only the two of us left in the room.

"What do you want?" I asked, pinching my eyebrows.

"You've met her, haven't you?" She asked.

"Please, be more specific. " I said, fatigue lacing my voice.

"You have met your mate! Haven't you? Duncan."

I sighed and was about to say no when my mind wandered off to the scrawny girl I had seen earlier in the morning.

"No, I haven't. " I replied.

"You have no choice, Duncan. You cannot ignore it anymore! The prophecy is coming true."

"What prophecy eh?" I said moving closer to her. "What kind of prophecy would make me leave Arielle?"

She opened her mouth to speak but I shut her up.

"Shut it!"I said in my alpha voice. "You will speak of no prophecy whenever you talk to me." I told her, making every word clear.

"Do you think I enjoy doing this?" She asked, angry. "You can deny it all you want, but what has been foretold will happen. You will see the signs soon. The witches will come back." She said, leaving me confused and scared.

"The witches are coming back?”
