Chapter 6
Jacqueline held her nose as the pain intensified and she slightly glared at Alexander. He kept staring at her like he wasn't the cause of her misery and Jacqueline wished she could punch him at least.
"Aren't.. aren't you going to apologize?" Jacqueline flared as she couldn't hold in the rage anymore.
"Apologize for what?" Alexander asked as if he was oblivious of what happened when in turn, he had known she was about to leave the room without his permission and had hit her with the door on purpose.
"You hit my face with the door, I knew it was unintentional but it wouldn't hurt to say sorry, would it?" Jacqueline questioned calmly but she was obviously enraged by his actions.
"Now what did we say about leaving without my permission?" He asked and the smirk still lingered on his lips. "How should I have known I had a disobedient maid who wouldn't heed to my words?" He asked as mirth danced in his eyes.
Jacqueline parted her lips to speak but she didn't know what to say anymore and she couldn't banter words with him because he was her boss and she couldn't risk getting fired or Chain might just kill her.
Jacqueline took her lips in and she tried to school her expression, "You're right, forgive me for my disobedience," Jacqueline said and Alexander's smile widened.
Alexander got bored immediately she said that, he had enjoyed her talking back to him even if it had lasted for a few seconds.
"Whatever, just leave" Alexander said coldly and Jacqueline quickly walked out of the room.
She took deep breaths to calm herself. She felt something warm trickle down her nose and her lips quivered when she felt the blood flow down her nose, Alexander Vladimir, you're so dead!
She got to her room in total rage and she slammed the door shut after she got in. How dare he do this to her? She had a feeling he had done it on purpose, she could tell by the annoying smirk on his lips.
She heard someone knock on her door, she opened it and saw Penelope standing outside.
"Granny Penelope" Jacqueline called and the elderly lady entered the room before shutting tte door behind her.
"I saw you fuming angrily as you walked past the halls, I came to check up on you" Penelope said.
When Jacqueline removed her hands from her nose, Penelope's eyes widened on seeing the blood on her nose and she quickly rushed out of the room to get first aid. She came back a minute later and she set the first aid box on the small table.
She sat next to Jacqueline and she began disinfecting the wound and cleaning the blood from her nose.
Jacqueline's heart hitched at the woman's kind gesture, people rarely showed her kindness. Receiving kindness from the woman she had met few days ago, struck a chord in Jacqueline's heart.
"You don't have to do it, I'm fine and I can help myself with it" Jacqueline said and Penelope smiled at her.
"I know you're an independent woman but there's nothing wrong with accepting help sometimes, you don't have to do things on your own all the time" Penelope said as she smiled at her kindly.
"It's just that…I'm used to doing things on my own, I'm used to not receiving help from anyone" Jacqueline said and for the first time since her mother passed away, she revealed her true emotions in front of someone aside Ariel
Penelope smiled at her words and she remained silent till she finished with the wounds.
"Thank you" Jacqueline said and Penelope smiled at her. She carried the first aid box and she left the room.
Jacqueline sighed as she stared at the bandaged wound in the mirror. The kind of work she did had made her become extremely careful enough to not injure or cause any damage to her skin. It had been months since she last saw even a scratch on her skin but thanks to that psychopath, she had a injured nose.
Her phone dinged and she saw a text from Chain.
'I want you to provide information about him on a daily basis now, remember what's at stake' Chain texted.
Jacqueline gulped as she read the text as fear got a good grip of her. This was the reason she had hid behind the mask for years, she didn't want Chain to find out about her family. Now that he knew about them, he could easily use them to threaten her.
'Boss, a day is asking way too much from me, getting information from him is pretty hard. If I try too had, he will suspect me and find out about the plan. Boss, 3 days is what I need'
Jacqueline texted back and she held her breath as she awaited his reply.
Her phone dinged and she quickly picked it up to read his text.
'Fine, 3 days it is Cruz. Don't disappoint me' his text read and Jacqueline sighed in relief.
She left her room and went to the kitchen to get an ice pack for her nose. She opened the fridge and she took the ice pack. Jacqueline winced when the ice made contact with her nose and she internally prayed for some giant space rock to fall from the sky and crush Alexander Vladimir.
The pain reduced a bit and she left the kitchen, her eyes widened when she saw Alexander standing right in front of her. Had her thinking summoned him? She was just kidding!
"Do you need anything Mr Vladimir?" Jacqueline asked politely as she stared directly into his gray orbs. She had heard the maids and servants were never supposed to make direct eye contact with the high ranked mafias but she didn't care. The fact she was poor didn't make her less human and the fact that they were rich didn't make them higher than the human species, they were all the same to her and nothing would change her mentality.
He took a step closer and Jacqueline gulped nervously as she felt nervous because of his dominating presence. There was something very dark, cold and mysterious about him.
Jacqueline held her hands in front of her as his tall and larger frame hovered over her. The hair at the back of her neck stood as he leaned closer.
"I want you" he whispered at the shell of her ear and Jacqueline's eyes widened crazily.
