Chapter 6 Unexpected Incident

Adeline totally blew off the Martinez Family folks. After dropping her piece, she hopped on a shared bike and went hunting for a parking spot.

Today was nuts—tons of people showed up 'cause of the family's big name. The entrance of Caesar Hotel was jam-packed with fancy cars. The security guys were on edge, making sure they didn't tick off anyone important, so they were busy sorting out parking for all those luxury rides.

In the middle of all these swanky cars, a blue shared bike stood out like a sore thumb.

Adeline hopped off the bike with style and made her way to the hotel's fancy doors. Out of nowhere, a security guard stepped in her way. All formal, he said, "Sorry, the hotel's got special plans today. No guests allowed. Come back another time."

Adeline's eyes were calm but intense as she looked past the guard. Her voice was chill but had this undeniable authority. "I'm not here for a party; I'm here to save a life."

The guard chuckled like he'd just heard the funniest joke ever. "Save a life? You rode a shared bike and you dared say you here to save a life? You kidding?"

Adeline just smiled, all cool and collected, and pulled out her phone. The screen lit up, showing a clear appointment message. "Tell them the miracle doctor they invited is here."

"The miracle doctor?" The guard sneered, ready to keep mocking her, but then a luxury car rolled in. His attitude flipped instantly, and he got all impatient with Adeline. "Alright, move along; don't block the way for the important guests!"

As the car door opened, the guard rushed over with a big, fake smile, "Welcome, Ms. Cooper, Ms. Martinez. I'll get you a parking spot right away." The people in the car just gave him a look, not saying a word, but the guard acted like he'd just been blessed by royalty.

In the back seat of the luxury car, Stella's eyes caught a glimpse of Adeline about to leave. Curiosity flashed in her eyes, but she quickly played it cool.

"Stella, what are you looking at?" Sara, sitting next to her, followed her gaze.

"Oh, Adeline. Looks like she's too embarrassed and is about to bail. Henry and Angela's idea to help their country cousin is sweet, but judging by Adeline's actions, she's not worth it. Don't stress over her," Sara said with a sneer.

Meanwhile, Adeline, facing the guard's boot, thought to herself that while it's a doctor's job to save lives, sometimes it's just not meant to be. No point forcing it.

So, she didn't stick around and turned to leave, looking totally carefree.

She pulled out her phone, fingers ready to send a message canceling the appointment, when a scream cut through the air. A little boy suddenly collapsed on the street. The crowd freaked out, and people started buzzing.

Adeline looked over and saw a boy, maybe three or four years old. Without a second thought, she parked the bike and walked over. She squatted down, checking the boy's neck and arm.

Just then, an elderly woman grabbed James Rodriguez nearby. "You must be one of the famous doctors here for the consultation, right? Please, help this little boy."

James was annoyed. He was in a rush to attend the consultation for the Livingston family's heir, not to deal with some random kid. Plus, the boy's family wasn't around, so how could he decide to treat him?

Adeline ignored the chaos around her, focusing on the boy. She said coldly, all professional, "Everyone, back up. Let the air circulate; the kid needs ventilation and cooling."

James looked at the calm and collected Adeline and then remembered the rumored miracle doctor supposed to show up today. Could she be the one?
