Chapter 9 Punishing the Bad Guys

James was a cocky jerk, and Adeline? She was even more of a badass. But here's the kicker: James thought regular folks were beneath him, while Adeline had zero respect for the so-called big shots.

Adeline snapped, "You say you're Sara's student, but as a doc, you don't even have basic ethics. Life and death are the same for everyone, and a doc shouldn't play favorites. You brag about your fancy degree, but you can't tell heatstroke from a heart attack. And as a human, you don't even have the decency to help a kid in trouble. Someone like you, with no morals or skills, shouldn't be a doctor!"

James was left dumbstruck, and the crowd felt like justice had been served!

Adeline casually picked up a rock, just toying with it.

Out of nowhere, she flicked the rock like a bullet, nailing James right in the knee.

James's knee gave out, and he crashed to the ground!

He let out a yelp of pain. Suddenly, he realized he couldn't move, like he was under some kind of spell.

James glared at Adeline with pure hatred, his eyes bloodshot. If he could move, he'd definitely try to teach her a lesson.

Seeing his rage, Adeline just got more smug and said, "Why'd you fall? Get up."

But no matter how hard he tried, James couldn't stand.

Acting all innocent, she said, "Oh, you don't wanna get up? Then just chill there on the street for a bit, as your apology to everyone."

James, losing control of his body yelled, "What did you do to me? I'm calling the cops; you attacked me!"

Adeline stepped back and said, "Mr. Rodriguez, everyone saw it. You fell on your own; no one pushed you."

"Yeah, you had it coming!" the crowd chimed in.

"She didn't even touch you!"

After all, he was the one who refused to help at first, then talked trash after Adeline saved the kid.

If someone like him became a doctor, how could regular folks trust the system?

Now he wanted to blame Adeline! Did he think everyone was blind?

An older woman shouted, "Look, a med student from Zelphoria Medical School can't even do his job and humiliates regular people!"

James's face turned beet red.

The people of Eldoria were no joke.

James regretted causing a scene here. But with everyone watching, he was scared of being recognized.

He shot a nasty look at Adeline.

They were all med students, so they'd see each other again. James swore next time, he'd make her pay.

Adeline didn't care about his threats, not planning to waste any more time on him. Who knew who'd be the unlucky one next time they met?

James's rep was in shambles, and people around him were eager to get Adeline's contact info. After all, a good healer was hard to find, and they could tell Adeline knew her stuff.

Adeline was used to this, calmly sharing her contact info without a second thought.

The little boy, Ian Livingston, watched quietly, his eyes bright and adorable.

After wrapping things up, Adeline asked Ian, "Still feeling dizzy?"

Ian shook his head, blinking his big eyes at Adeline. "Thanks for saving me. If it weren't for you, I might be dead."

Ian's voice was clear and sweet, and he bowed politely.

Adeline raised an eyebrow and asked, "Kid, where's your family?"

Ian pointed to the Caesar Hotel. "They're all inside."

She really had a connection with the Caesar Hotel today.
