Chapter 3: The Little Mute Cute Kid

On the way from the airport, Chloe felt on edge, constantly turning back to check if the man was following them. Fortunately, they didn't see his figure until they walked out of the airport gate. She finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The two little ones, holding onto Chloe, found it strange that she turned around every few steps. However, seeing her nervous demeanor, they knew it wasn't the right time to ask questions and obediently followed her.

"Chloe! Daniel, Leo!" From a distance, a female voice rang out.

The three raised their heads and saw a well-dressed woman on the opposite side of the road, waving and walking towards them with a smile.

Seeing the newcomer, Chloe's tense heartstrings slowly relaxed, and a smile appeared on her face. "Elene Beaumont, long time no see!"

Elene was her best friend from college, and now she was also a doctor working at her own hospital.

Elene quickly walked up to the mother and two children, hugged her tightly, and spoke with an affectionate smile, "Finally, you've been back. I really missed you!"

Chloe responded with a soft smile, "Me too."

Over the years, they had kept in touch, but most of the time, it was online communication, with few opportunities to meet in person.

Elene gave her a tight hug and then crouched down, using one hand to embrace each of the two little ones. "Sweethearts, did you miss me?"

Daniel and Leo smiled sweetly and cutely, responding in unison, "Of course! We've been dreaming of seeing you! You are still so beautiful!"

"Thank you! You are so sweet!" Elene was praised by the two cute kids and couldn't help but smile.

Chloe, still feeling a bit uneasy, glanced at the airport entrance and casually urged, "Let's not stay here. We can talk later."

Elene planted firm kisses on the little ones' cheeks, stood up contentedly, helped Chloe arrange the luggage, and then swiftly drove away with the three of them.

At the same time, Quintus's tall figure appeared at the airport entrance.

"Cancel all the matters abroad," he ordered his assistant, Hudson, in a cold tone.

Hudson nodded, "Sir, we've already dispatched people to widen the search for Grace. She's so young; she shouldn't have gone far. Don't worry too much."

The little girl at home had always been the darling of the family. Compared to finding her, the work abroad wasn't significant.

Quintus's eyes were dark, and without saying a word, he walked briskly toward the Maybach parked by the roadside. Soon, the car sped away.

...

An hour later, Elene's car arrived at a mansion in the city named "Imperial Court Manor," which was the place Chloe had asked her to find just the day before.

The four got out of the car, and under Elene's guidance, they entered their new home carrying their luggage.

"It's so nice; I like it." Chloe was quite satisfied and turned to her best friend, saying, "I didn't expect you to be so efficient."

Elene raised her eyebrows noncommittally, "My house is right next door. The entire family of the homeowners moved to Kyoto, and they're renting out this house. I happened to find it, so in the future, we can visit each other every day."

Chloe nodded with a smile.

After quickly tidying up their belongings, it was just about mealtime. Elene took the three of them out for a meal again.

On the way to the restaurant's parking lot, just as the car hadn't come to a complete stop, a little girl suddenly ran out from a dark corner.

Seeing that a collision was imminent, Elene quickly slammed on the brakes and anxiously watched the little girl who had already fallen to the ground outside.

Chloe also felt a wave of fear. She turned her head to check on the two little ones in the back seat, saw that they were fine, and immediately opened the door to get out.

Just a step away from the front of the car, a little girl about four or five years old sat on the ground with a dazed expression, obviously scared out of her wits.

Chloe's heart softened. She cautiously squatted down beside the little girl and gently asked, "Little one, are you hurt?"

The little girl had fair skin, watery eyes, a cute little nose, and a delicate appearance. She was dressed in a pink princess dress, with two small braids, and she held a valuable-looking doll in her arms. She seemed to be a little princess from somewhere.

Hearing Chloe's voice, the little girl slowly came back to her senses. She timidly shook her head, still showing some wariness in her eyes.

Seeing her reaction, Chloe's heart softened even more. After carefully looking around and confirming that the little girl was indeed unharmed, she breathed a sigh of relief and reached out to help her up. As she reached out, she noticed that the little girl seemed frightened and shrank back slightly. Her big eyes were full of fear.

Chloe paused in her movement, her outstretched hand hanging in the air. She smiled reassuringly at the little girl and said, "Don't be afraid, I just want to help you up."

After saying that, she looked around again and asked in confusion, "Where are your mom and dad? Why are you alone?"

The little girl clung tightly to the doll in her arms, remaining silent and just shaking her head. Chloe furrowed her brows, unsure of how to communicate with her.

Elene and the two little ones also got out of the car. Seeing the little girl not speaking for a while, Daniel and Leo exchanged puzzled glances, both showing confusion in their eyes.

This little girl was so cute, but not saying a word for such a long time... could she be mute?
