Chapter 5 Mia's decision
It is no news that the Alpha no longer wants me, I have been rejected. After the way he treated me in the hospital, I have decided to accept Noah's rejection but I won't do it without seeing my fated mate one last time.
It was at the wedding and I decided to look my best that day. I wore a pretty blood red dress, the very one I have kept these past three years for the day Noah would return and I wore the earrings my mother had given me for my fifteenth birthday and the necklace Noah gifted me too.
He was handsome in his armor with the mark of the Moonstone Pack engraved on the chest. It was exactly how I had imagined he would look on our wedding day but I wasn't the bride.
The ceremony was in full swing when I walked in. Men turned twice to look at me while the women frowned at me. The mage was performing the last part of the joining ceremony. Our mage lifted up the freshly lit candle for the last ritual.
"With this candle's light, a symbol of the brightness the Goddess blesses us with when her light shines, I shall pronounce these two as mates."
The couple went down on their knees before him. The moon was shining brightly now, and everyone was silent. They knew the question to follow, we all did.
"But before then, does anyone have a reason why these two shouldn't be mated to each other? The mage asked. The silence grew even deeper; most even held their breaths. When two werewolves choose to be mated, it is believed that it is the Goddess's will.
The mage began making a circle with the candle in his hands around the couple. When the circle was completed, they would become mates, and all that would be needed was the blood mating that would take place when they mated tonight.
The circle was almost complete when I stood up, ever so calmly, the coolest I have been in years. I began to walk towards the stage where the mage and the couple were. I felt hundreds of eyes staring daggers at me, so I put more effort into swaying my hips.
I climbed onto the stage with poise and took the microphone from the mage. When I saw Noah's angry eyes, I almost dropped the mic and ran out but when I looked at Laila, I knew I had to do this.
" Uhm… I have something to say."
What was I even doing? I was making a fool of myself, but I couldn't help it.
"I was bred as an Omega in this part and loved a man here, one day my fated mate left and was gone for three long years of waiting. He returned and rejected me and is now marrying the one who made me an orphan at sixteen. That man is none other than Alpha Noah Turner."
I turned around to face Noah; he was angry, as I could tell by how dark his eyes had become.
"Noah Turner, Alpha of the Moonstone Pack. I, Mia Wilson, hereby accept your rejection as mate."
Everywhere was as silent as a graveyard while I stood there, not sure what to do next.
"Okay, the show is over. Someone, seize this loser and charge her with treason against the pack for attempting to ruin a divine ceremony." Laila said, jumping to her feet. Her clear skin had become pale because she was very angry.
At her behest, two soldiers sprang into action and started towards me.
"Not so fast, Laila. You have no more power over me as you're no longer my Luna." I said.
"I also chose to abandon the pack. I am no longer a member of the Moonstone Pack."
The soldiers froze their movement. The crowd was silent for a split second then as if on cue, they all began to whisper at the same time. My heart was breaking all over again from accepting the rejection but I was strong enough to walk out of the ceremony and away from the Moonstone pack, away from Alpha Noah Turner.
"No, Mia wait!"
