Chapter 2 Became A Sugar Baby

At the Dining Table

Leopold asked, "Where's that porridge I always have?"

"You mean the stomach-soothing porridge?"

"Stomach-soothing porridge?"

"Yeah, the one Ms. Learmond makes with all those ingredients? I didn't have time to prep it. You gotta start the day before and cook it early in the morning. And you gotta watch it like a hawk. I don't have her patience. Even if I made it, it wouldn't taste the same, and also..."

Leopold said, "Just get me some peanut butter."

"On it, Mr. Wipere."

"Why does it taste different?" Leopold eyed the jar, "The packaging's different, too."

"The other jar's empty. This is all we got."

"Hit the supermarket later and grab a couple more jars."

"You can't buy it." Mira smiled awkwardly. "Ms. Learmond made it herself. I don't know how."

Leopold put down his utensils.

"Hey? Mr. Wipere, you're done eating?"

"Yeah."

Mira watched Leopold head upstairs, looking puzzled.

Why'd he get so mad all of a sudden?

"Wake Up!"

Camilla turned over, eyes still closed, "Leave me alone, let me sleep a bit more."

Juniper, already dressed and picking a bag, said, "It's almost eight. Don't you need to go back and make breakfast for Leopold?"

Camilla sometimes stayed over but would rush back before dawn to make stomach-soothing porridge for Leopold, who had a bad stomach.

Juniper found it ridiculous and thought, 'Is Leopold disabled or something? Can't he just order takeout?

Why make such a fuss?

Honestly, it's just a bad habit!'

Camilla, still half-asleep, waved her hand. "Not going back. We broke up."

"Oh, how many days this time?"

Camilla was silent.

"Alright, sleep as long as you want. Breakfast is on the table. I'm off to work. I have a date tonight, so don't worry about my dinner. Actually, you'll probably go back soon anyway. When you leave, close the balcony window for me."

Camilla woke up hungry.

Eating the sandwich Juniper made, looking at the bright sunshine outside, Camilla couldn't remember the last time she woke up naturally.

After finishing breakfast as lunch, she changed clothes and headed straight to the bank.

First, she cashed the fifty-million-dollar check.

It was always reassuring to have the money in hand.

Then she went to another bank next door. "I need to see your private banking manager. I want to deposit ten million dollars."

Finally, the bank manager came out and offered a decent annual interest rate. Camilla asked for an additional two points, and they happily agreed.

Using the same method, Camilla went to two more banks, depositing ten million in each.

The interest rates got better with each bank.

Walking out of the last bank, Camilla now held black cards from three banks, with thirty million dollars in deposits and a twenty-million-dollar liquid fund.

"Not bad, this split."

She had become rich overnight.

Passing by a bustling hair salon, Camilla walked in.

She got a membership card on the spot, gaining priority service.

Sitting in front of the mirror, looking at her brown wavy hair, Camilla showed disdain for the first time.

"Miss, your hair is so well-maintained, like a doll's."

She kept her hair long and wavy because Leopold liked it that way.

After every intimate moment, Leopold's hands would linger in her hair.

But having beautiful wavy hair meant spending more time maintaining it.

Camilla smiled slightly and told the hairdresser, "Chop it off, straighten it, and dye it black."

She thought, 'No matter how pretty a doll is, it's still just a toy. Whoever wants to be one can go ahead; I'm done.'

Leaving the salon, Camilla felt light. There was a clothing store having a sale next door, so she went in and picked out a white T-shirt and a pair of jeans, wearing them out of the store.

They matched her sneakers perfectly.

Walking along, she found herself outside Harmony College, watching students riding bikes in and out under the sunset. Camilla was lost in thought.

"Lucas! Over here!"

A Moore boy passed by Camilla, "Why is everyone here?"

"We all want to visit Professor Garcia, so we came together."

Lucas Jones said, "With so many people, the hospital won't allow us all in. How about two reps from the bioinformatics department come with me?"

Bioinformatics, Professor Garcia.

Camilla's eyes narrowed, and she quickly stepped forward, "Who did you say is sick?"

Lucas stammered, looking at the clean and pretty Camilla, "Professor Garcia."

"Aurora Garcia?"

"Yes."

"Which hospital?"

"Tranquil Hospital."

"Thanks."

"Which department are you from? Are you also Professor Garcia's student?"

Lucas's question was left behind as Camilla walked away quickly.

Back at the apartment, Camilla couldn't calm down.

Aurora, who would jump up and knock on people's heads when angry, was sick?

How serious was it?

She opened her contacts, found the number saved as "Aurora Garcia," hesitated several times, but ultimately didn't have the courage to call.

Back then, to be with Leopold, for so-called love, she had given up the chance to pursue a successive postgraduate and doctoral program of study without hesitation.

She hadn't worked a day since graduating college, turning herself into a housewife revolving around a man.

Aurora must be extremely disappointed.

"Hey? Camilla, you didn't go back?" Juniper asked in surprise while changing shoes.

Camilla's mouth twitched. "You want to kick me out?"

"Unbelievable, you're holding out longer this time. I remember last time you broke up with Leopold, and within half an hour, he called, and you went back."

"There's porridge in the pot, help yourself."

Juniper's eyes lit up, and she immediately ran to the kitchen to get a bowl. While eating, she sighed, "Leopold is so lucky to have this every day..."

Camilla said, "Remember to wash the dishes and clean up after you're done. I'm going to sleep."

"Hey, are you really not going back?"

The response Juniper got was the bedroom door closing.

Juniper clicked her tongue. "This time, she's got some backbone."

Under the same night sky, at Leopold's villa.

"Mr. Wipere, the bank has confirmed that Camilla herself cashed the fifty-million-dollar check at 12:05 PM today..."

Leopold hung up, coldly looking at the night view outside the window.

"Camilla, what new trick are you playing now?"

If she thought this would win him back, she was mistaken.

Once he made a decision, there was no turning back.

"Oliver, want to grab a drink?"

Half an hour later, Leopold pushed open the private room door, and Oliver was the first to greet him with a smile, "Leopold, everyone's here, just waiting for you. What are we drinking tonight?"

Leopold walked in.

Oliver didn't move, looking behind him.

"What are you standing there for?"

"Where's Camilla? Is she parking?"

Leopold's face darkened slightly.
