6. What is the reason?
However, even though people knew that the two often fought and were difficult to reconcile, they saw what they did, listened to their conversations even from a distance and watched.
“Hopefully it won’t be that bad. You heard Captain Victoria’s angry voice, right? My premonition is getting worse,” said one of the medical team members. She was a girl who knew Victoria well.
“That’s right. Every time Captain Vic gets angry, she will do something that even we can’t stop her,” said another.
They gathered at one of the pillars, hiding together just to watch the fight between Sean and Victoria.
“Come on, I hope it won’t be that bad. We are at war, please don’t add to the chaos,” said one of the men standing between Sean’s team.
“Yeah. This could be a disaster,” said another.
The two teams were the ones who knew Sean and Victoria best, so they were more worried that the feud between Sean and Victoria would continue.
“It won’t be easy anyway.”
“Well, what can I do? The superior who arranges the troop schedule is Commander Kevin. You must know him, even Victoria wouldn't be able to make Commander Kevin change a decision that had been made even if Captain Vic used seduction techniques," explained one of them who nodded his head together and even sighed.
They were still behind the pillars that supported the upper floor, gathered there a little hidden while watching and listening to what the two people who didn't always get along were talking about.
They didn't know, there was someone who was also watching there.
"You must have done it on purpose, right?" accused Victoria who stopped Sean's footsteps and the two of them faced each other there.
"If you know, why?" Sean answered casually.
Victoria sighed in disbelief and looked at Sean with annoyance.
"Why? What's wrong with you that you're obsessed with me? Don't you realize that if we were on different teams it would provide welfare for the soldiers and reduce the existing disaster?" Victoria replied.
"The existing disaster? You think our relationship is a disaster?" Sean answered again with an incredulous look.
Victoria's mouth dropped open and she took a deep breath.
"Hey. That's not what I meant. So -"
"So, just accept it. You'll know why we're together soon enough," Sean interrupted.
The girl looked at him.
"What reason?" Victoria asked.
"You'll find out soon enough. If you're smart, you'll find out soon enough. See you at one," Sean said with a small smile to Victoria before leaving.
The man's words made Victoria angry, and she glared at him hatefully.
Victoria turned and went in the opposite direction to Sean. After all, the girl had to calm down before going to war in a few hours. Victoria's mood had to be stable or it would cause problems. However, the problem for the girl herself was Sean.
At twelve-thirty that afternoon, all the new joint teams had gathered in the field to prepare. The team leaders gathered in front to take a map of the route that would be their territory to comb the surroundings.
Team two led by Sean would patrol the Zor area which had been isolated since yesterday. However, there were still reports that there were several people trapped in the Zor area, they managed to survive but couldn't get out so they asked for help.
Fully armed, the soldiers were ready to go. Sean stood at the front to give instructions.
"Stay alert under any circumstances," Sean said.
Team one started to move and Sean's attention was diverted.
Victoria was in the middle, reluctant to stand at the front because she would face Sean.
"Let's go." Sean gave instructions and began to lead.
Team two finally left the place with the same movement.
No one spoke during the journey. They had passed through the gate. The streets around the base were clean, the bodies on the outskirts had now been removed but traces of blood and battle between humans and aliens were still there.
Victoria still felt the loss of her best friend, especially when passing the area where her best friend's body lay. However, not only Victoria, Sean felt more guilty and responsible for losing six soldiers under his command so quickly.
They began to enter the attacked area. All the buildings in the place were destroyed, and scattered, glass was broken, blood everywhere, and vehicles collided with each other. The situation was not so good.
"I will divide the team into four. Team one to the West, team two to the North, team three to the South, and team four to the East. We will meet here in an hour. Give any signal if there is an emergency. The team that sees the signal must immediately come to help. Do you understand?” Sean directed his gaze forward, towards the alert soldiers.
“Yes!” they shouted in unison.
“Alright. Team four follow me,” Sean said then.
Team two with the code name Sigung moved to divide the team into four. The team led by Sean moved east while raising their weapons, ready.
The area seemed quiet but they had to remain vigilant because the movements of the strange creatures were unpredictable, and who knows where they would attack.
On the other hand, the creatures were moving. Their vision seemed a little blurry, when they saw their prey they would turn red, if not prey then they would turn green. The sounds of the creatures were like small bells ringing. They moved when there was a sound, if there was no movement from humans the creatures walked slowly, jumping a little while looking around. They were also greedy.
A slimy green monster with a round body was standing on the roof of an abandoned house as it watched the red movement that would become its prey. Something like a thin moustache grew on the creature's head like a transmitter. The creature's movement slowly approached the prey that was walking carefully.
The loud gunshots not only surprised those walking in front, but the sound was heard for several kilometres, and the sound attracted the small creature. However, if someone did not shoot, then their friend would die as a victim of the monster.
"They are coming," said one of the soldiers in the line.
"You must be ready, and don't be careless," said the squad leader.
They agreed, and one by one the small green slimy creatures appeared and approached them with a gurgling sound along with the arrival of the monster, the sound of gunfire filled the air. The war between the soldiers and the small aliens broke out again.
Not only was one team attacked, but the other team was also made tense by the creatures, including Victoria and Sean who were busy shooting the approaching monsters brutally. Would they be able to fend off the attack?
