Chapter 8 She Touched What She Shouldn't Have Touched

Michael was about to blow a gasket, his jaw clenched so tight it could crack a walnut.

Elizabeth went ghost-white, "I didn't see it right. I opened it and shut it real quick! I swear, I didn't mean to. I was so freaked out. I don't even know how I clicked on it."

"Shut it!" He snapped, her excuses only making him more pissed. "Stay in the room! Until the divorce, you ain't stepping out of that door!"

Elizabeth, staring at Michael, zipped her lips.

No matter what she said, it was pointless.

She kept her mouth shut and headed back to her room.

She didn't say more, in case that he would hate her even more.

Elizabeth shut the door behind her.

Michael glared at the closed door.

Squinting and pressing his lips together, he told Susan, "Don't bring her any food."

Was he planning to lock her up and starve her?

Susan wanted to say something, but seeing Michael's rage, she couldn't get a word out.

In the Thomas Family, Michael was the boss.

Susan could only sigh and walk away.

Two days later.

Mary's blood pressure was back to normal, and she got the all-clear to go home.

The first thing she did was visit Michael.

Seeing Michael up and about, Mary felt a weight lift off her shoulders.

With a relaxed smile, she asked, "Michael, how you holding up? When do you think you'll be back on your feet?"

Michael said, "Doc says I'm healing up good. Mom, there's something I need to talk to you about."

Mary seemed to know what was coming, her smile fading a bit, "Is this about your marriage? I set up that wedding, and Elizabeth is the wife I picked for you. She's a good girl. You should try to get along with her. Speaking of which, where is she? Didn't see her when I came in. Did Elizabeth go out?"

Michael shot a look at Susan.

Susan got the hint and quickly headed to Elizabeth's room.

She was worried about Elizabeth, too.

For the past two days, Michael hadn't let anyone bring her food or water. Who knew what shape she was in now?

Susan opened the door, and Mary peeked inside, her jaw dropping.

Inside, Elizabeth was curled up in a ball, hugging her knees, leaning weakly against the wall.

Her hair was down and a bit of a mess.

Hearing the door open, she turned her head and saw Mary.

Seeing her like this, Mary rushed in.

"Elizabeth! It's only been a few days. What happened to you? How did you end up like this?" Mary looked at Elizabeth, her face pale as a ghost, and Mary's blood pressure spiked. "Tell me, did Michael, did Michael hurt you?"

Mary's voice shook as she spoke.

Elizabeth had lost a ton of weight.

She was never heavy to start with. Even though Susan cooked her all kinds of dishes every day, she stayed thin.

But now, her light-colored nightgown hung off her like a sack.

She was even skinnier than before.

Her face was pale, and her lips were cracked.

Her once bright eyes now looked dead.

She was a total wreck.

Her mouth moved like she wanted to say something, but nothing came out. She'd been locked up and starved for two days, with zilch to eat.

When she got thirsty, she drank tap water.

In this state, she was nearly starved to death.

Her unborn baby was probably already gone from hunger.

In a twisted way, that was a relief. She wouldn't have to stress over whether to keep the baby.

Thinking about it, Elizabeth felt like her heart was being squeezed and torn apart by a pair of giant hands.

It hurt so bad she could barely breathe.

It turned out she did care about her kid.

Susan brought a cup of warm milk and held it to her lips, "Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas, drink some milk first. Don't worry, Mrs. Mary Thomas is here now, you'll get food."

Mary frowned deeply, "Can someone tell me what's going on? What happened to Elizabeth? How did she get so thin? Why did Michael lock her up? What did Elizabeth do to piss him off?"

She quickly walked to the living room and confronted Michael, "Michael, Elizabeth is the wife I picked for you. How could you treat her like this? Have you thought about my feelings?"

"If it weren't for you, do you think I would've kept her this long?" His voice was cold and indifferent.

She had messed with something she shouldn't have, and he hadn't broken her arms, which was already a big mercy.

"Michael, Elizabeth is a good girl. I don't expect you to love her. I just want you two to stay together, even if it's just in name!" Mary got more worked up as she spoke, her chest heaving, and her body starting to sway.

Seeing that Mary didn't look well, Michael quickly signaled to the bodyguard beside him.

The bodyguard rushed forward to support her and helped her to the couch.

"You can't kick Elizabeth out! If you want a divorce, fine, but you should find a woman you like. I can't let you live alone anymore!" Mary was helped to the couch, but her head was getting dizzier.

Thirty seconds later, Mary's head tilted, and she collapsed on the sofa.

Having just been discharged that morning, Mary was rushed back to the hospital.

Michael hadn't expected Mary to care so much about Elizabeth.

It wasn't just Elizabeth he disliked, he resisted all women.

In the room, after gulping a cup of milk, Elizabeth perked up a bit.

She had heard everything that happened outside.

Mary was sent to the hospital again.

Elizabeth, having been starved for two days, was weak all over, but her resolve to get a divorce was stronger than ever.

She stumbled to the living room and faced Michael.

"I want a divorce," she said, her voice a bit hoarse, but her gaze firm.
