Chapter 5 The First Step of Revenge

On the way to Spencer villa, Robert got wind that Diana's life was pretty rough. He figured that even with Bianca gone, Diana would still be a big deal. Plus, she married that business mogul Charles, so she had to be living it up, right?

But nope, Nathan's family turned out to be total jerks, messing up Diana's life big time.

Thinking about it, Robert picked up the pace and followed Diana into the house.

Right then, Nathan's family was having a grand old time, all happy and cozy.

None of them expected Diana to show up.

Honestly, it made sense for Diana to come back to the Spencer villa after her divorce, but she had lost her spot in this house ages ago. The old Diana would've just hidden in a corner and cried.

Clara was the first to spot Diana and snapped, "Diana! Who said you could come to my house! Someone, throw her out!"

But the servants didn't budge. They knew this house actually belonged to Diana's mom, Bianca.

It was totally fair for the owner to come back home.

Diana didn't give a damn about Clara's tantrum and plopped down. She looked around, taking in the home she hadn't seen in forever.

Seeing Diana not moving, Clara was about to make a move but got stopped by Robert. "Miss Williams, this is Ms. Spencer's home. You've got no right to tell her she can't come back."

Clara was taken aback by Robert's sudden appearance.

After a moment, she composed herself and remarked, "Diana, you're something else. Just divorced and already got a new man, and an old one at that. Your taste is really... unique."

Robert frowned, not expecting Clara to be such a pain.

"Miss Williams, I'm Ms. Spencer's lawyer. If you keep being disrespectful, I'll take you to court!" Robert shot back.

Nathan, who had been watching, chimed in after hearing Robert's intro, "What a joke, since when do you have a say in my house! Diana, take your lawyer and get out, or I'll sue you for trespassing!"

Diana stayed cool, not giving Nathan the time of day.

She quipped, "That's ridiculous, Nathan. You've been squatting in my house so long you think you own it? Enjoying my stuff, huh?"

With that, Diana suddenly yanked off the necklace Clara was wearing.

Clara had been flaunting a precious blue diamond necklace worth millions, which Diana had left in the house.

Clara felt a sharp pain in her neck and touched it, finding it bleeding from the necklace's scratch.

She lunged at Diana, furious. "Bitch, that's my necklace!"

Diana dodged and kicked Clara in the knee.

Clara dropped to her knees in front of Diana, unable to stand from the pain.

Mia, not expecting Diana to fight back, rushed to help Clara up.

"Diana! We've got no beef. How you gonna just ignore our thing, show up here, smack Clara, and swipe her stuff!" Mia yelled.

Seeing Clara and Mia getting bullied, Nathan raised his hand to hit Diana, but Robert stopped him again.

Diana sat down, her face full of mockery.

She thought, 'They stole my necklace and then accuse me, how ridiculous! But no one's getting away today.'

"Clara, you can't even afford luxury goods. Where'd you get a necklace worth millions? I remember my stuff was still at home. You stole it from my jewelry box, didn't you?" Diana questioned.

Clara's knee hurt like hell, her face twisted in pain.

This Diana actually had such an expensive necklace. She had only taken it because it looked nice, not knowing it was worth millions.

But since it was in the house, it was Clara's now.

Clara angrily said, "What do you mean your necklace! I said it's mine, so it's mine! If you don't give it back, I'll call the cops and say you broke in and robbed me!"

Robert was floored by Clara's nerve and was about to step in for Diana. But Diana beat him to it, striding over to Clara.

"What a pretty blue diamond, huh? Each one's got a serial number. If it's yours, you must know it, right?" Diana challenged.

Clara freaked out; she had no clue about any number. She'd just started flaunting the necklace when Diana snatched it back.

The Diana standing before her wasn't the timid girl she remembered. She was calm, her eyes sweeping over the three of them like a queen.

Clara suddenly felt a wave of fear, recalling the things Diana had said when she slapped her.

Mia, not able to stand Clara getting bullied, piped up, "What serial number! Those numbers are so long, who can remember them? Diana, stop being ridiculous!"

Clara, bolstered by Mia, quickly found her footing again.

"Exactly! Those numbers are impossible to remember! Give me back the necklace and get out of my house!" Clara yelled.

Diana found their excuses laughable and twirled the necklace playfully.

In the refracted light, the gem sparkled brilliantly, highlighting the ugly faces of this family.

Diana remained composed as she asked, "If you don't remember the number, do you have a purchase receipt?"

"I..."

Clara didn't get a chance to speak before Diana cut her off, "Let me guess, you're gonna say you lost it. But it doesn't matter, with such an expensive item, there must be a record of the purchase receipt. Call the cops, let them check who the real owner is."

Clara looked completely guilty, her face twisted in anger.

Seeing no one moving, Diana blinked innocently, "Why not call the cops? Don't you want the necklace anymore?"

Mia didn't expect Diana to become so sharp-tongued after the divorce, but the situation was not in their favor now.

They definitely couldn't let Diana call the cops. Without the receipt, they'd be nailed as thieves.

But Mia wasn't about to give up such a precious necklace.

She sneered inwardly, no matter how cocky Diana was, she had even fought Diana's mom, Bianca, let alone her.

Mia pretended to be in a tough spot and said, "Diana, we're all happy that you're back home. Clara is still young. Don't hold it against her. Let's gather as a family, have a meal, and talk it out."

Diana really admired Mia's nerve. She always played the gentle and considerate card, which was why Nathan was so smitten with her.

Now they were fighting, and Mia could still calmly try to smooth things over.

But Diana wasn't a fool. Mia was a snake, waiting for her to drop her guard and then strike. So she mocked, "Family? My parents are dead. My mom was Bianca, who do you think you are? And is your daughter, a mistress's kid, worthy of being my sister?"

Diana's words were laced with sarcasm, provoking Nathan to the point of losing his temper, his hand raised as if to strike her. "You ungrateful brat! I'm still here! Mia is speaking nicely, and yet you show no respect.!"

Diana quickly grabbed Nathan's hand and shoved it back hard.

Nathan, being old, lost his balance and fell onto the sofa.

Clara and Mia saw this and screamed in unison.

"Dad!"

"Honey!"

Seeing this dramatic scene, Diana couldn't help but clap and said to Clara, "Didn't expect you to pick up your mom's acting skills. You've lived it up in my house for years. Now that I'm back, am I the bad guy?"

Without waiting for them to react, Diana turned to Robert. "Robert, call the cops. When they get here, we'll see who the thief is and who the owner is."

Robert nodded and pulled out his phone to call the police.

Clara, gritting her teeth through the pain in her leg, tried to snatch the phone. "How dare you!" she shouted.
