Chapter 6 Calling the Police

"Why wouldn't I dare? Clara, you chicken?" Diana shot her a smirk.

Sensing the heat, Mia yanked Clara aside, putting on her best mom face.

Turing to Diana, she said, "Diana, it's on Clara. She didn't know any better and took your necklace. We're family; let's handle this in-house. No need to get the cops involved."

Clara, held back by Mia, just glared daggers at Diana, teeth grinding.

Diana, not in the mood for games, plopped down on the couch.

She'd already thrown down some serious shade, but Mia was acting like she didn't hear a thing.

Since Mia loved to play pretend, Diana wondered how long she could keep it up.

Time was ticking, and if they didn't patch things up soon, it'd be a mess when the cops showed. Mia bit her lip, shocked at how chill Diana was.

A few days back, Clara had said Diana was like a whole new person after her divorce. Mia hadn't bought it then, but seeing her now, Diana was definitely different! Before Mia could think of a plan, Clara lost it and grabbed a vase, chucking it at Diana.

"Diana! Go to hell!" Clara screamed.

The vase was heavy, and if it hit, it could do some real damage.

Mia was taken aback, thinking, "Nah, Clara's too fiery. If Diana ends up hurt, it's gonna be more than just a missing necklace when the cops roll in."Robert, freaked out by the chaos, went pale but remembered the main thing was to get evidence before the cops arrived. He stepped back and whipped out his phone.

Diana watched the vase coming at her, a sly smile creeping on her lips.

Everything slowed down for Diana. At the last second, she pulled off a perfect spinning kick, sending the vase flying back.

The former Diana wasn't super fit, but was flexible enough to nail the move. Still, her foot throbbed afterward, and she winced in pain.

Clara wasn't so lucky. She saw the vase coming back at her and instinctively covered her face. She lost her balance and toppled backward.

It all happened in a flash.

Mia, relieved Diana wasn't hurt, turned to see Clara crashing into a shelf.

The wooden shelf was wobbly and couldn't hold Clara's weight. As the vase hit the floor, the shelf came down. Stuff broke everywhere, and the room was a mess.

Clara sat among the wreckage, clutching her face and wailing.

As Nathan and Mia rushed to help Clara and barked at the servants to assist, the living room turned into a madhouse.

Diana, cool as a cucumber, sat back on the couch and looked up at Robert, who was still filming.

"Did you get it all on video?" Diana asked.

Robert nodded. "Yeah, I got it."

Diana was pleased and rubbed her sore foot.

Clara, hurt by the falling junk, was crying in pain. But the worst was yet to come.

Isabella rushed in to report. "Mr. Williams, Mrs. Williams, the cops are here."

Hearing this, Clara, despite her pain, grabbed Mia's arm in a panic. "Mom, what do we do? The cops are here!"

Mia's face went all serious. She hadn't thought Diana would actually call the cops. She patted Clara's hand, signaling her to chill. After all the drama, even if the cops were here, they had a story to tell.

Two uniformed cops walked in and asked, "Who made the call to the police?"

Robert stepped up. "That'd be me, officer."

"What happened here? This place looks like a tornado hit it. Were you all fighting?"

Clara, clutching her swollen arm, jumped in first, "Officer! This crazy chick broke into my house and attacked me. Lock her up!"

The two cops exchanged looks, surprised that it was two ladies causing all this ruckus.

With Clara looking all banged up, the cops naturally leaned her way.

But Mia didn't want things to blow up. She stepped forward, speaking softly, "Officer, the kids had a little spat and accidentally knocked over the shelf. We apologize for the trouble. It's nothing serious; you can head back now."

Mia's gentle act and graceful manner made her seem like the perfect mom. She signaled Isabella to show the cops out.

Seeing this, Robert quickly stepped in. He had called the cops and had evidence; he couldn't let them just leave.

"Officer..." Mia, knowing Robert was a lawyer, didn't want him to speak, so she cut him off, "Officer, this is a private family matter. I don't know what his deal is, but calling the cops over a spat between two girls is a waste of public resources."

Mia's words were firm, like she was really a responsible mom.

"Just a sibling quarrel?" The cops were skeptical. They couldn't believe two girls could cause such a mess. They didn't get these rich folks.

Mia had forgotten Diana was still there. Just as she was about to smooth things over, Diana, who had rested enough, cut in, "Who said we're sisters?"

Mia's smile froze, not expecting Diana to be so uncooperative.

"Diana, you always act out when you're mad. How could you call the cops over a family thing?" Mia said.

Diana shot back, "What right do you have to lecture me? Officer, I asked my lawyer to call the cops. These three trespassed and tried to harm me. Please handle this by the book."

Nathan, who had been quiet, suddenly spoke up, "That's it."

He stepped forward and blocked the cops.

"Officer, I'm the head of this household. Unfortunately, we have a disobedient child who caused this mess. I'm sorry for the trouble. Diana, come and apologize!" Nathan said.

Diana found Nathan's words hilarious. He never gave a damn about her.

He even cheated with Mia and, after Bianca's death, eagerly took over the Spencer Group's assets, moving Mia and Clara into Bianca's house.

Diana used to obey Nathan, only to be repeatedly ignored by him. Now, she was no longer the same Diana and wouldn't listen to him.

"Who do you think you are to order me around? I said you three trespassed and tried to harm me. None of you are getting away!" Nathan said.

Clara, terrified by Diana's venomous tone, shivered and remembered the slaps Diana had given her a few days ago.

It was over. Diana was really here for revenge.
