Chapter 5 Piano Concerto

Nope, it was Edward's chest.

The impact made me step back a bit, feeling a wave of irritation.

Seeing Edward's familiar, annoying face, I didn't want to deal with him. I was full of grievance and anger. So, I pushed my suitcase, ready to bypass him and leave.

"Wait!" Edward's voice called out behind me, with a hint of command.

I stopped, feeling a surge of displeasure, turned around, and looked at him. "I don't want to talk to you."

Edward didn't budge. He grabbed my wrist, his gaze firm. "Melissa, take Diana's luggage back."

Melissa, who was nearby, stepped forward to take my luggage. Anger surged within me, and I tried to pull my hand back. "I can do it myself. I don't need your help!"

Edward's grip tightened, impatience in his eyes. "You're not in a state to handle this alone right now."

Anger flared up inside me, and I wanted to retort, but his determined gaze intimidated me. Melissa silently took the suitcase, her eyes showing a hint of sympathy.

"I don't need your concern," I said softly. "Let go, I'm not your first love."

I didn't want to fall out with Edward before, but now I've made up my mind to leave. Making such a tough decision, I still admire myself.

Edward actually let go. He suddenly squatted down, and within two seconds of my confusion, my feet left the ground. Edward had picked me up!

Standing on the ground gave me a sense of support and confidence, but once my feet left the ground, it seemed like no amount of strength could help.

I struggled and kicked, only to receive a hard slap on my butt. I was stunned for a moment and bit down on Edward's shoulder. Edward didn't move, but I let go first. The pain in my teeth, accompanied by an indescribable bitterness in my heart, spread instantly, and tears fell uncontrollably. Did Edward not want me to leave because he truly didn't want to lose me, or was he just infatuated with my tolerance, protecting his first love from being exposed?

I tried to use such malicious thoughts to ease my pain, but it was futile.

Edward threw me onto the bed, his body pressing down on mine, kissing my face randomly but only tasting bitter tears.

"Don't touch me!" I couldn't forget what Edward did with the photo of his first love. Edward had already masturbated; wasn't he afraid of exhaustion if we really made love again?

Honestly, I had never made love with Edward twice in a row; the charm of the photo was greater than mine.

Edward looked a bit surprised and said, "Are you crying just because we didn't make love this morning?"

"No!" I retorted. "I don't want to be with you anymore. I want a divorce."

This was the first time I mentioned it. I thought it would hurt a lot, but it didn't. Instead, I felt a sense of relief.

I've had enough of these years of trying to please him, and I'm tired. It seems that subconsciously, I've been waiting for this day.

I finally had a clear day, no longer willing to be Edward's first love's shield.

I didn't want to continue this fake relationship with Edward. If he wanted to play dumb, I would tear off his mask.

I poked Edward's chest hard with my index finger and said coldly, "Edward, do you know why I want a divorce? Because you have no sense of boundaries!"

"No boundaries? Just because I spent more time with Anne after she got hurt?" The gentleness on Edward's face disappeared, replaced by endless coldness. "Anne is my sister. We've always been like this. If you have a problem with it, that's on you. Maybe your mind is too dirty."

"If you think I'm so unbearable, then isn't it perfect for us to split?" I was disheartened too, feeling like this relationship was truly over. People often think of the initial sweetness when a relationship is about to end. I suddenly remembered our wedding and suggested, "Play me the proposal song from our wedding, and I'll leave this house with nothing. How about that?"

Edward agreed readily, and I was a bit surprised.

In the living room, Edward sat at the piano in the central area. He adjusted his posture, sat upright, and then his fingers began to flow over the keys. The romantic nocturne echoed through every corner of the villa.

After four years, hearing this "Token of Love" again, my feelings had completely changed.

At the wedding, when Edward played the piano for me, I felt genuinely happy. But now, Edward's playing was also for happiness, but not for me.

For a moment, I was dazed, not knowing if it was the sunlight on him that was too dazzling or if Edward himself was just that radiant. I was blinded to the point of tears.

I thought, 'I have to leave! I can't continue to be lost in the pleasing music.'

Just as I turned around, I fell into a scorching embrace, so hot that I almost felt like Edward needed me.

I had rejected Edward twice, and perhaps these rejections only fueled his desire to win. As soon as I let my guard down, Edward had me sitting on the piano.

Melissa, as if receiving some signal, immediately ran over and drew the living room curtains.

The living room had an atmosphere that was both exciting like being in a public space and yet private. Edward led me to play on the piano, but the notes were not beautiful.

At the beginning of the piece, I was still immersed in my sadness, unwilling to cooperate with Edward. The tones were light and heavy, short and long.

But Edward was very enthusiastic, kissing me relentlessly. Gradually, I got lost in the concerto of love, forgetting everything, wanting to follow Edward.

In the dim living room, the atmosphere grew increasingly ambiguous, and Edward's gaze was as hot as fire. Suddenly, the phone in the living room rang, breaking the moment's tranquility.

"Wait a minute." Edward frowned slightly, walked to the phone, and picked it up.

"Mom." Edward's voice carried a hint of helplessness, but I felt a surge of vengeful satisfaction from the sudden interruption.

On the other end of the line, Edward's mom's voice was clear and kind. "Come home for dinner tonight. Everyone is waiting for you."

My heart tightened, silently praying that Edward would refuse, but he didn't hesitate at all. "Okay, I got it."

After hanging up, Edward turned around, his eyes shining with anticipation. "Let's go home. Mom made your favorite dishes."

"I don't want to go," I responded, full of resistance. "We're about to separate anyway."

"You're happy to sleep with me but not have dinner with my family?" he retorted.

I glared at Edward. If it weren't for his skills, I wouldn't be sleeping with him.

I stopped trying to please him, and Edward's smile turned cold. "You asked me to play that song to remind me of our wedding, didn't you? I allowed you to play tricks on me, and you still dare to make a fuss?"

Edward saw through my little scheme, and I felt embarrassed, lowering my head. After a long pause, I said, "I thought you played the piano to let me leave with nothing."

"Even if we divorce, if I don't want you to have anything, you won't get a penny." Edward pinched my nose and quickly returned to his usual cold demeanor. "You know how my parents treat you. No matter what grievances you have, don't let them see it!"

"Fine! I promise they won't see it. I'll just tell them we're getting a divorce!" I said directly.

"Don't you dare!" Edward poked my forehead hard, and I yelped in pain. This jerk was too rough.

After all these years of marriage, Edward still didn't understand me. Am I that unreasonable?

Edward's parents treated me very well. No matter how unhappy I was with Edward, I would never trouble them with these matters.
