Chapter 18 Wanted to Have Sex with Me Last Night
The next morning, the sun was blasting through the tiny gap in the curtains.
Alice cracked her eyes open and scanned the room, but Henry was nowhere to be seen.
She sat up and noticed a fresh set of workout clothes on the bed, different from yesterday's.
She got up and grabbed the outfit from the foot of the bed, and a set of underwear tumbled out.
She checked the size—perfect fit.
Suddenly, she had a flashback of Henry's hands all over her, the feeling still sending shivers down her spine.
Alice slapped her cheeks to snap out of it. After changing and freshening up, she stepped out of the room.
She froze when she saw Henry standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, staring at the distant buildings.
Hearing her footsteps, he slowly turned around, his eyes icy cold. "Awake?"
Alice felt a knot in her stomach. After their night together, Henry shouldn't be acting like this. Unless...
'Has my trick last night been exposed?'
She bit her lip and walked forward, her hands fidgeting. "Uncle Henry."
Henry narrowed his eyes and walked up to her. He grabbed her chin with his fingers and lifted it. His voice was cold and deep, "Is this fun to you?"
Alice tried to muster some tears, hoping to soften Henry's icy demeanor. A tear slid down her cheek. "Uncle Henry..."
"You thought I'd come looking for you, so you drugged yourself with an aphrodisiac, wanting to sleep with me last night."
At that moment, Alice really wanted to give Henry a big thumbs up. He nailed it!
"Let me guess again, you dressed up so ugly before because you didn't want to get engaged to Oliver. And in the hospital bathroom, you fainted on purpose for me to see." Henry's grip tightened. "So your target has always been me."
Alice winced, "Uncle Henry, it hurts."
"Hurts?" Henry's voice was ice-cold, with a hint of cruelty, "Do you know the consequences of messing with me?"
"Is it wrong that I don't want to get engaged to Oliver? Is it wrong that I like you?" Alice looked at Henry, her gaze stubborn and resolute. "I couldn't think of any other way to reconnect with you. I admit my methods weren't honorable, but I want to be your girlfriend."
Henry looked at her tear-filled eyes. He let go, and her chin bore red marks from his fingers. Her neck was covered with red marks too.
He left those, not just there.
Further down were kiss marks.
Henry averted his gaze and said coldly, "Many women want the same."
Alice wrapped her arms around Henry's waist, her eyes moist, "Uncle Henry, don't be mad, okay?"
Henry remained unmoved and pulled her hands away.
Alice hugged him directly and buried her face in his chest, feeling aggrieved, "Uncle Henry, is it wrong that I like you? Besides, I'm not like those women you mentioned."
Henry sneered, "Right, you're bolder to scheme against me."
Alice looked up at him. "No, it's because you like me more than them."
Henry laughed in anger. "When did I ever like you?"
"Uncle Henry, you must like me. You were willing to risk your life to save me from the fire, beat up Oliver for me, and last night you were willing to..."
"Shut up!" Hearing her words, Henry was furious, realizing he had been led by Alice last night.
He pulled Alice, who was clinging to him like a koala, to the side. He turned away and looked at the brown paper bag on the coffee table. "The house in Bluewater Bay is compensation from the Howard Family for breaking off the engagement, and the villa in Oakridge Heights is compensation for last night."
Alice got the message loud and clear: Henry was trying to put some serious distance between them.
She sighed, thinking she might've jumped the gun last night. She'd messed things up.
But she wasn't about to let it end like this since she had finally gotten close to Henry.
Last night, despite everything, Henry had been so controlled.
If he drew a line now, winning him over later would be a nightmare.
Alice stepped forward and grabbed Henry's long fingers. "Uncle Henry, we had a moment last night. I need to take responsibility for you."
"Last night, nothing really happened between us." Henry pulled his hand back.
Alice reached out again, touching his knuckles. "Then I need to make it happen."
Henry frowned, what kind of nonsense was she spouting?
He shook off Alice's hand, his voice cold, "From now on, contact Ethan if you need anything. I'll be very busy."
With that, he strode away without looking back.
Watching the door close, Alice collapsed onto the sofa.
Henry was really pissed this time, and she needed to find a way to calm him down.
She looked at her phone, which had sixteen missed calls and a few Facebook messages.
Ten of the missed calls were from Henry, three from Lester, two from Calvin last night, and one from Esme this morning.
Henry had called every minute. He must have been really worried last night. No wonder he was so mad when he found out she had schemed against him.
Lester probably just wanted to see if Alice had gone on a blind date with Grant and if it had gone as planned.
Calvin, no doubt, was complaining about his tough situation being hunted.
As for Esme, she called back, and soon Esme's excited voice came through.
Alice had to move the phone away from her ear.
"How did it go, Alice? Did you guys hook up?"
Alice sighed and filled Esme in on what happened last night and this morning.
Esme was surprised. "Henry actually found out you schemed against him? But you're still alive and kicking, so he must still have feelings for you. What's your next move?"
Alice scratched her head, feeling a bit lost. "He told me to contact Ethan if I needed anything. That means he won't reply to my messages or take my calls anymore. It's normal for him to be angry. For now, I can only try to calm him down."
"I can only wish you luck. By the way, did you see my message?"
"Not yet."
"After thinking it over all night, I've decided to marry the guy from the blind date last night!"
Alice coughed violently at her words. "Are you serious?"
"Of course not! His name is Charles Stuart, a cardiology specialist at Loshanda Hospital, and a rising star in Stellaria's medical field, on par with Leopold York."
Alice raised an eyebrow. "The Stuart Family monopolizes Stellaria's medical equipment, very wealthy."
"His family background is good, and so is mine. We're getting married by agreement to avoid more blind dates, and we'll cooperate with each other after marriage."
Alice frowned slightly. "Esme, marriage is not a game. Are you sure about this?"
"I'm sure. Charles is coming to pick me up to go to the City Hall soon. I need to go put on some makeup."
"Alright, contact me if you need anything."
After hanging up, Alice recalled that the doctor Henry called last night was named Charles. Small world, huh?
Looking at the brown paper bag on the table, an idea popped into Alice's mind.
In the back seat of the Maybach, Henry pressed his temples.
His fingers suddenly paused, and he glanced at them while frowning deeply.
'Then I need to make it happen.' Alice's words echoed in his mind. Henry's fingers lightly rubbed together, the smooth touch of her skin still lingering.
