Chapter 24 It seems Rupert has a bit of a thing for her.

Alice turned her head cautiously, a flicker of coldness in her eyes. But when she saw it was Henry, the chill started to melt away.

Henry's black suit was drenched, his hair wet, and his eyes held some unreadable emotion.

Alice remembered his back was still healing from burns, so she pulled him inside. "Uncle Henry, what are you doing here?"

"Your phone was off."

They were both soaked, leaving a puddle on the floor.

"Let's talk at home," Alice said, letting go of his arm and heading to press the elevator button. She glanced back at Henry.

Henry took off his suit jacket, draping it over his arm, and walked into the elevator with his long strides. He pressed the door open button. "Come in."

Alice stepped in and stood next to him, keeping some distance. She lowered her eyes and bit her lip.

Noticing the deliberate distance and the lack of her usual warmth, Henry thought about what Oliver had said, and a mocking smile played on his lips.

He felt like a fool.

When the elevator doors opened, Alice walked out, noticing Henry hadn't followed.

She turned back and saw Henry's mocking smile fade as the elevator doors closed.

Alice found it odd. Why had Henry come, only to leave?

Thinking about Henry's message, she furrowed her brows.

She took out her phone to call Henry, only to remember it was dead.

She pressed the elevator down button, but it kept descending, and the other one was stuck on the 17th floor.

Alice rushed into the stairwell and ran down the stairs. But when she got outside, Henry was nowhere to be seen.

A sour feeling filled her heart, and she felt inexplicably sad.

With red-rimmed eyes, she went home and took a bath.

After drying her hair, she sat on the bed and picked up her fully charged phone, dialing Henry's number. Although it connected, Henry didn't answer.

Just then, Esme called. "Alice, Henry is at Luxe Elegance Nightclub. He seems troubled. Do you want to come?"

Alice bit her lip. "Send me the location."

She changed into a white T-shirt and shorts with white sneakers, grabbed her bag, and left.

Half an hour later, Alice arrived at the VIP Room 409 on the fourth floor of Luxe Elegance Nightclub.

She bit her lip and pressed the door handle.

The moment the door opened, the room fell silent, and everyone's gaze turned to Alice.

Esme ran over and held Alice's hand as she walked in. "Let me introduce my best friend, Alice Savoy!"

Alice smiled brightly, "Hey everyone, I'm Alice Savoy."

After speaking, she glanced around and saw Henry smoking in the corner of the sofa.

He had changed into a black shirt and trousers, with his sleeves rolled up, showing off his muscular arms. His bangs hung down, hiding his eyes and making his emotions hard to read.

His shirt collar was unbuttoned, giving him a carefree and unruly look.

Rupert Astor put down his dice cup. "Alice, that name sounds so familiar. Where have I heard it before?"

Kieran Coleman mused. "Isn't Oliver's fiancée named Alice too? What a coincidence."

Rupert laughed, "Both named Alice, but Oliver's fiancée looks so rough. I bet Oliver would cry even in his dreams."

Damon Boleyn scrutinized Alice's features. "Are you Oliver's fiancée?"

Since hiding it was pointless, Alice nodded, "It's ex-fiancée."

Rupert nearly choked on his drink. "My God! Really?"

Alice nodded again, "Oliver is getting engaged to Clara next month, not to me."

Everyone present was smart enough to piece together the situation without further explanation.

Charles noticed everyone was standing and said, "Let's all sit and chat."

Esme led Alice to a seat not far from Henry.

Alice looked over, but Henry didn't spare her a glance, his demeanor icy.

Rupert enthusiastically sidled up to Alice and handed her a cocktail. "Alice, it's like you've had a makeover! Let me see, where did you get plastic surgery?"

Alice couldn't help but laugh. "Go ahead and look."

Rupert stared at Alice's delicate features and found everything on her face so natural with no signs of artificial enhancement. "There's no sign of plastic surgery!"

Damon scoffed, "She just took off her makeup and changed her hairstyle. Your eyes are really bad."

Rupert clicked his tongue, "Alice, did Clara steal your fiancé? Don't worry, there are plenty of men in the world. No need to waste time on Oliver. I've been learning divination recently, and I'm really good at it. Let me give you a reading, free of charge." As he spoke, he reached for Alice's hand.

"Rupert." At this moment, Henry said coldly, "Play a game with me."

Rupert laughed, "Wait a minute, Henry. I'm giving Alice a reading."

"Now!" Henry glanced at Rupert's hand, his face showing a hint of coldness.

Rupert reluctantly took out his phone to open the game while muttering, "Every time we play, you completely crush me. What's the point?"

Alice quietly watched Henry, who held a cigarette between his lips and looked down at his phone. The screen's light reflected on his face, highlighting his long eyelashes.

His slender fingers moved quickly and deftly, effortlessly defeating Rupert.

"I said I didn't want to play, but you insisted. You must want to embarrass me in front of Alice!" Rupert complained, then turned to Alice. "Let's play dice."

Alice smiled, "Okay."

Henry glanced at Alice. Her white T-shirt and shorts were simple, yet she looked so youthful and vibrant.

But the shorts were a bit too short, revealing her long, sexy legs.

Feeling a bit irritated, he stubbed out his cigarette and tossed it into the ashtray, then picked up a glass of red wine, swirling it gently.

"Oliver probably didn't know Alice was this beautiful before he betrayed her. He must regret it now!" Damon laughed.

'Regret? Oliver and Alice are getting back together!'

Henry watched Rupert say something that made Alice laugh, her eyes crinkling with joy. He lowered his head and downed his glass of wine in one gulp.

"Rupert seems to have a thing for her," Damon said in a low voice.

Henry narrowed his eyes as his long fingers stroked the rim of his glass. "Both are single. It's normal to date."

Damon laughed, "She should call you Uncle Henry. Why didn't Alice greet you when she came in? Is she afraid of you?"
