Chapter 34 Help Me Block the Blind Date
"You guys should hit the sack early," Henry said, not even bothering to look at the album as he headed upstairs.
Paloma, clearly annoyed by Henry's cold shoulder, grumbled, "Every time we bring up marriage, he acts like this." She shot a look at Dash, "Do you think Henry might be into guys?"
"That's ridiculous!" Dash snapped back.
Paloma sighed, "When am I gonna get to hold my grandkids?"
"Oliver and Ophelia, you can hold them!"
Paloma snorted, "I want to hold a baby." She picked up a photo from the table, admiring Alice's bright eyes and white teeth. "Alice is gorgeous. None of the women in this album come close. I still don't get why Alice dressed like that back then. No wonder Oliver wasn't into her. But now, she and Henry do look good together."
Dash snatched the photo away. "Stop talking nonsense! Henry can be with anyone but her! Why does she have to be a Savoy?"
Henry glanced at the photo of Alice and him in the car, noticing they oddly looked like a good match.
But Dash huffed and tossed the photo back on the table.
After getting back to his room, Henry took a shower and stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in his robe, thinking about what he had just said, 'I don't care. We did nothing wrong.'
'Would you kiss your niece and do what you did that night with her?' Alice's words and her sorrowful eyes haunted him.
Annoyed, he lit a cigarette, but put it out after just two puffs.
He picked up his phone and dialed a number. "Mr. Diaz, your daughter crossed the line today. I don't want to see her in Loshanda again."
Owen Diaz quickly replied, "Yes, once her face heals, I'll send her abroad."
"Your have three days!"
"Mr. Howard, what about our cooperation?"
"You can choose to disappear from Loshanda forever!"
After getting home, Alice took a shower and then opened her computer to log into the Dark Web to check out the latest tasks.
She saw that tonight, the same account from last time had hired her to track someone down. The account might be from Ethan.
She glanced at the info and saw the person being investigated was John. Since she wasn't online at the time, the task had ended, probably because Ethan hired someone else.
Henry showed up at the Golden Shadow Bar, meaning he had figured out the mastermind, Julia.
So, was he avenging her?
Alice patted her face, telling herself not to get her hopes up.
Henry was only dealing with Julia because she was scheming behind the scenes.
If something happened to Alice because of Henry, they would inevitably be connected again.
So now, Henry had to stop Julia from continuing her malicious actions.
Understanding the situation, Alice felt a bit down.
Just then, a message notification popped up on her screen. Someone had left her a message.
Shadow: [Thanks for not being online, I earned two million dollars tonight.]
Alice smiled and typed. Lone Wolf: [We can team up in the future. I won't take orders, you take them, and then you raise the price and split it with me.]
Shadow: [Dream on!]
Lone Wolf: [Fine, I'll take orders myself, and you won't get a single dollar.]
Shadow: [You're too cunning!]
Lone Wolf: [Just try to surpass me!]
Shadow: [I want to meet you in real life!]
Lone Wolf: [You'll never see my beautiful face in this lifetime!]
Shadow: [You must be old and ugly!]
Alice logged off, not wanting to argue with him anymore.
On the Dark Web, hackers, bounty hunters, tech moguls, and other industry leaders earned points based on the tasks they completed. The difficulty level of the tasks determined the points, and rankings were updated annually based on the points they acquired.
Shadow was the world's second-ranked hacker, always second, and the top-ranked hacker, Lone Wolf, was Alice.
Alice stretched, moved her neck, then picked up her phone and glanced at it. Henry's profile picture was at the top of her Facebook list.
She took out a necklace from the drawer and stared at it while murmuring, "I seem to have lost my confidence now."
With that, Alice pouted while putting away the necklace, set down her phone, and went to bed.
For three days straight, Alice lived a routine life.
This morning, she made a fried egg and had a glass of milk for breakfast.
After breakfast, Alice packed her bag and headed to school. Just as she was about to enter the gate, she saw a man striding towards her, with a woman trailing behind him.
"Where have you been these days, and why did you block me?" Lester's tone was a mix of reproach and concern.
Alice scoffed, "Mr. Savoy, I've been out of the Savoy Villa for days, and you just now thought to look for me?"
Clara stepped forward. "Alice, Dad cares about you a lot. He mentions you every day at home."
"Me? Does he say, 'Alice, that jerk! She embarrassed me again! She disgraced the Savoy Villa again!'"
"Alice, Dad saw the reports online and is very worried about you," Clara frowned. "Mom and Grandma are also very concerned about you."
Alice raised an eyebrow at this.
Lester sighed, "Alice, what I said before was out of anger. When will you come home with me?"
"Is it because of Rupert's tweet?" Alice cut straight to the point, exposing Lester's motive. "Mr. Savoy, you should go back. Rupert and I are not..."
Before she could finish, Rupert's voice interrupted. "Alice!"
Alice turned around and saw Rupert walking over. He took off his sunglasses, his white shirt paired with a light blue vest and trousers, along with his silver-gray short hair, drawing a lot of attention and causing the surrounding girls to scream.
"What are you doing here?" Alice frowned.
"I need your help with something." Lester quickly extended his hand to greet Lester. "Mr. Astor."
Alice pressed Rupert's arm down. "Mr. Savoy, tomorrow is the day we agreed on for the share transfer contract. Mr. Murphy will contact you then."
With that, she strode forward.
Rupert didn't expect Alice's relationship with the Savoy Family to be so strained. He chased after her. "Alice, wait for me!"
Lester's eyes darkened as he watched Alice's back, feeling humiliated in front of Rupert.
Clara asked, "Dad, what about the share transfer?"
Lester gritted his teeth. "Delay it!"
"Alice is acting recklessly because she has Mr. Astor's support. Wesley was removed by the school board, and no university is willing to keep Sarah now."
Lester snorted, "Am I afraid of that jerk Alice?"
Rupert's arrival confirmed the content of the tweet.
Since everyone now knew Alice had Rupert's backing, no one dared to mock her to her face.
Inside the classroom, Rupert propped his elbow on the table, resting his chin on his hand, and smiled foolishly at Alice's stunning profile.
His intense gaze was hard for Alice to ignore. She glanced sideways. "Mr. Astor, just say what you need, but I can't guarantee I can help."
Rupert cleared his throat. "My aunt set me up on a blind date. I need you to help me get out of it."
"Maybe you two are a good match?"
Rupert clicked his tongue, "That girl is very pretentious. Spare me, please."
Alice narrowed her eyes. "You can only ask me for help?"
"You see, I confessed to you on Twitter. It wouldn't be appropriate to ask someone else now!" Rupert clasped his hands together. "Please."
"When?"
"Twelve noon."
"I have a design class. I can only go after it ends."
"No problem, I'll wait for you." Rupert smiled brightly, showing his teeth.
In the design class, Rupert watched in disbelief as Alice quietly sketched, his eyes full of amazement. "Aren't you from the countryside?"
Alice chuckled lightly, "Do you look down on country folks?"
Rupert couldn't find the words to say. "Do you want to join the Astor Family's fashion company as a designer?"
"No need."
"Aren't you about to start an internship?"
"Yes, I've already found a place."
Rupert, still thinking about being close to Alice, said, "No problem. If you ever have any difficulties, just come to me. I'll be there right away."
Alice ignored him and focused on her drawing for the entire class.
Rupert secretly took a side profile photo of Alice and sent it to the group chat.
Rupert: [My goddess, beautiful, right?]
Kieran: [Attending class with her? Rupert, your tactics are impressive now!]
Charles: [Looks like you're serious, even chasing her to school.]
Damon: [You definitely won't succeed.]
At this moment, Henry sat at the head of the conference room table, his expression dark. His cold eyes hid a sharp glint as he exited the group chat and tugged at his tie.
The director, standing in front of the LED screen, explained the plan while wiping the sweat from his forehead.
Henry lifted his eyes, "Continue."
