Chapter 51 Disguise is Blown
"Hey gorgeous, you're looking fine. Wanna hang with us?"
"You coming along nicely, or do we need to rough you up first?"
"If you play nice, you'll just get a little hurt. If not, well, your face won't be so pretty anymore." Five guys, looking like total creeps, closed in on Alice.
Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed.
Alice turned and saw the girl who had been eating across from her.
Alice frowned, her voice icy and firm, "Get out of here!"
The girl froze, staring at the five menacing guys. She was so scared she couldn't move.
She swallowed hard. "Leave her alone!"
The guy with a scar on his face barked, "Get lost, this ain't your business!"
Alice shot her a cold look. "Go now!"
But the girl, mustering all her courage, stood by Alice. "If my uncle finds out, you guys are dead meat!"
Hearing "uncle," Alice couldn't help but think of Henry and smirked.
One of the guys sneered, "Look at her, still smiling. What a joke."
Scarface said, "Enough! Take her!"
Alice took off her shoulder bag and handed it to the girl. "Stay back."
The girl nodded and ran to the side with the bag, dialing 911 on her phone.
Two guys with clubs rushed forward. Alice grabbed one by the arm and smashed his elbow with her other hand.
The guy's arm snapped instantly.
Then she grabbed his collar and slammed him into the other guy, sending both crashing to the ground.
Two more guys with knives charged at her.
With a few swift moves, Alice dodged the blades. She twisted one guy's wrist, making him drop the knife.
With a flick of her shoe, she caught the knife by the handle and stabbed it into the guy's other arm. Blood splattered on her white T-shirt, making her frown.
She then kicked the guy in the chest, sending him flying.
She looked mockingly at the other guy with a knife, twirling the knife in her hand.
The guy gritted his teeth and charged. Alice stepped on the chest of the fallen guy and leaped up, kicking the guy in the face, knocking out two of his teeth.
Seeing things go south, Scarface tried to run.
Alice threw the knife, hitting him in the thigh.
Scarface fell, looking back in terror as Alice approached, like a demon from hell, each step echoing in his heart.
Alice squatted in front of him, gripping his jaw with a silver needle aimed at his eye. "Who sent you? Spill it!"
Seeing the sharp needle, Scarface shut his eyes tight. "We have rules..."
Alice slowly pushed the needle into his temple. "Two more inches and you're either brain-dead or a veggie."
"No, I'll talk! Someone hired us. I have her number on my phone. It's a woman."
Just as Alice was about to check the phone, several cops showed up.
They pointed at Alice. "Freeze! Police!"
The girl quickly ran over. "I called 911. These guys tried to kidnap this lady with heavy weapons. Officers, arrest them!"
The cops fell silent.
Seeing the injured guys on the ground, were they really the bad guys?
And heavy weapons?
Where?
In the end, Alice and the girl were taken to the police station.
Meanwhile, at the Royal Orchid Restaurant.
Just as Henry entered the private room with Dash, he immediately got what was going on.
The so-called important dinner about the Howard Group's major interests was actually a setup for a date.
Celeste Garcia and her parents stood up, smiling warmly.
Nathan Garcia stepped up, all smiles and super attentive. "Mr. Dash Howard, Mr. Henry Howard, please, have a seat."
Once everyone was settled, Nathan gave Celeste a nod. "Celeste, pour some wine for Mr. Dash Howard and Mr. Henry Howard."
Celeste had this smooth, delicate skin. Her features weren't exactly striking, but she had this undeniable grace and elegance that screamed "rich girl." She wore a knee-length, sleeveless black dress by Morrisa, showing off her slender, sun-kissed limbs that practically glowed.
She made her way around the table, pouring wine for Dash first, then for Henry.
"Mr. Dash Howard," Celeste said with a slight curtsy, lightly clinking her glass against Dash's.
Dash nodded, taking a sip, clearly impressed with Celeste.
Celeste refilled her own glass and turned to Henry, "Mr. Henry Howard, please."
Henry raised his glass, clinking it lightly with hers, and took a small sip.
Instead of going back to her seat, Celeste naturally sat next to Dash, serving him food with care.
During their chat, Dash couldn't stop praising Celeste. "Celeste is amazing! A master's grad from a top university, full scholarships every year. I heard she was also the cheerleading captain. Quite the athlete!"
Celeste smiled, sneaking glances at Henry, but he didn't react. "Mr. Dash Howard, you're too kind."
Dash glanced at Henry, who seemed indifferent. "Henry, you should exchange numbers with Celeste. You can't always be all about work. Take some time to watch movies and chat, don't you think?"
Henry didn't respond, just kept checking his watch.
Nathan awkwardly smiled, "Celeste, serve Mr. Dash Howard some food..."
Before he could finish, Henry's phone rang. He frowned slightly. "Alright, I'll be right there."
Henry looked at Nathan. "Mr. Garcia, sorry, but I have an urgent matter to attend to."
Dash, clearly annoyed, whispered, "What urgent matter? Didn't I tell you to clear your schedule today?"
Knowing Dash wouldn't let it go, Henry said, "Ophelia is at the police station. I'll have the butler come to pick you up."
Dash paused. "Then go quickly."
Henry nodded to everyone and left.
Dash then turned to Celeste. "You should go with him."
Celeste, knowing she had Dash's approval, quickly grabbed her bag and followed. But she was a step too late, only catching a glimpse of Henry's car driving away.
She called her driver, and soon her car arrived. She got in and told the driver to head to the police station.
Henry arrived quickly, and as soon as he entered the station, the chief, Dylan Davis, greeted him.
"Mr. Howard, you're here." Dylan walked beside him. "This case doesn't directly involve your niece, but she reported it and insists on bailing out the girl involved. She refuses to leave."
Henry was a bit surprised, not expecting Ophelia to end up at the police station on her first day of school, and to be so protective of her new friend.
Dylan continued, "Originally, those five guys tried to kidnap that girl, but they didn't expect her to fight back."
Henry found this interesting. One against five? That girl was something else.
But when he saw Alice sitting next to Ophelia, he paused.
Wasn't that impressive girl his delicate and pitiful girlfriend, Alice?
Henry smiled, but there was a cold edge to it.
Seeing Henry, Ophelia lit up. "Uncle Henry, you're finally here! This is my new friend, Alice!"
Alice didn't expect Ophelia's uncle to be Henry, and her fingers curled up involuntarily.
It was over!
Her delicate and pitiful act was shattered!
Alice weakly called out, "Uncle Henry."
