Chapter 4

"What? Mansion? Don't be kidding, Leo. You can't be this rich!" She immediately denied Leo's confession as if she didn't believe that the mansion, which was as big as the Henry family's luxurious house in their home town, belonged to Leo.

"You're really looking down on me, aren't you? I'm not your poor, malnourished and destitute friend Leo. Ruby, now I can give you whatever you want." He said. Ruby was stunned, Leo's eyes which always looked at her warmly made her at a loss for words to say.

She had been truly fascinated by Leo since they met again after the school reunion. Leo's mischievous, mischievous and funny attitude is what she misses most about Leo, her best partner in mischief as a child.

Leo, who used to be the shortest and smallest among the five of them, has now emerged as the tallest and most dashing figure. Her amber eyes and the smile on her sexy lips make him even more charming.

Seeing that Ruby was silent, Leo took her hand and took her into the luxurious mansion that he bought from his own hard work, not inheritance from a rich family like Henry's.

Inside this mansion there are many servants and Leo's friends who are partying or just relaxing in the swimming pool. Seeing Leo coming, they immediately approached him.

"Boss, what happened?" Asked a man who looked very young.

"I want to rest! Let George tell you!"

"But you're injured, I'll call a doctor!"

They glanced at Ruby who came with Leo. A woman wearing only a bikini looked at him sarcastically.

"Who is he? Is that bum you picked up on the street again?" Said the woman. Hearing his insult, Leo immediately reacted coldly.

He let go of Ruby's hand from his grasp and walked over to the woman with a murderous look that he would never want to see in his life.

"Kneel!" Leo said, giving orders like a group leader.

The woman looked scared, she realized that she had just made a mistake and she would definitely regret it.

"L-Leo, I-I didn't mean-"

"Kneel...!" This time Leo's tone sounded louder. The woman immediately knelt down with her body shaking.

"Lower!"

Because she was afraid, the woman could only do what Leo ordered.  Leo grabbed Ruby's hand, asking her to stand right in front of the woman.

"Kiss her feet and beg her forgiveness!"

"Leo, you don't have to-"

"No, Ruby! I don't want anyone to insult or say anything bad about you. It's lucky that you're here, because otherwise, it's certain that he won't see the sun tomorrow with those two eyes!"

The woman started crying, she was scared and immediately kissed Ruby's shoes with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry! I'm really sorry!"

"N-no! Don't do that! I'm fine really." Ruby tried to stop the woman. She felt that there was no need for this woman to degrade herself like this.

"You know the consequences for everything you do, Fiona! I can throw you away and turn you back into a poor, pathetic whore if you dare say anything bad about my woman with that dirty mouth of yours. Do you understand?" He said firmly.

"I understand! I'm so sorry!"

"Come on Ruby, you should rest too!"

"Leo, about tonight's match? Mr. Frederick wants you to be his jockey. He doesn't want any other players!" Said the man named George who was in the car with them.

Leo sighed, he knew that he could still play even though he had just been shot. But right now he wanted to spend the night with Ruby, sleep on her lap and hold her all night.

"Okay, what time is the game?"

"12 o'clock at night on the 13th floor. Master Frederick really hopes that you will bring back a big win for him. He promises to pay a very high price!"

"Okay!" Leo said.

He didn't say anything else and just took Ruby up the stairs to the second floor and into a very spacious room.

"How about you?"

"The doctor will be here soon, maybe you need a little stitching after the bullet is removed!"

"You lost a lot of blood! We should go to the hospital-"

Before Ruby finished her sentence, Leo immediately hugged her. She could hear Leo's heart beating fast.

"I don't need doctors and hospitals, I don't need anything, Ruby. I just need you. As long as I'm with you, I always have a reason to smile."

"Leo?"

Ruby was stunned, she saw the sincerity in Leo's eyes. The same sincerity as when they were little. Leo always said that he needed her, Leo always said that she was the love of his life. In the past, Ruby couldn't really understand the meaning of the love of her life that Leo said.

She thought she was Leo's best friend, but in reality she was more than that. She's more than just a friend. For Leo, she is mother, father, brother, partner, and also a friend. Leo has no one he hopes for apart from Ruby.

After the doctor came to treat the wound on his arm, Leo decided to spend time with Ruby tonight. He gave her a glass of wine and they sat together on the bed.

She felt awkward, she didn't expect that tonight they would end up having sex. She knew that it would most likely happen, but she felt bad because Leo wasn't really in good shape right now.

Leo sat on the floor, laying his head on Ruby's lap who was sitting on the bed. Ruby held Leo's head, stroked his hair gently and let Leo enjoy her warmth.

Leo held one of Ruby's hands and kissed it. He always hoped to be the only man in her life because for 10 years, he was the one who always tried to find Ruby's whereabouts even though there were so many difficulties facing him. He didn't just wait, cursing and vengeful for Ruby's departure. He always assured himself that one day they would meet again.

"You know? For 10 years I waited for the day I could lie on your lap again. You remember when we were eight years old, it was at the beginning of winter, you came to my house bringing matches and some pieces of wood. At that time I was very I was cold and my body was weak. You came and lit the fire in the fireplace. You heated up the canned soup you brought from your house and fed it to me."

"Yes, I remember! At that time you were very hungry because you hadn't eaten all day. You ate the soup with gusto. You were afraid when I lit the fire because we were still eight years old. But at that time there were no adults around us, I forced to be brave." Ruby chuckled remembering that sweet moment.

"That day was just one day before Christmas Eve. My father had just been arrested by the police and I didn't tell my grandmother about it. I cried all night because I was lonely. I'm so grateful you came, Ruby."
