Desire for Revenge

Kael Graham

After months of planning, I would finally put into action my desire for revenge against Rachel Mitchell, the one responsible for my mother's suffering. I hated her, a selfish girl who always had her father, Patrick, fulfilling all her whims, regardless of the impact it had on other people, making her shallow and petty. Now it was time for her to learn a deserved lesson. Nothing could dissuade me from my desire for revenge, fueled by the time Patrick abandoned my mother. He paid for giving in to the whims of his selfish daughter. It was time for Rachel to learn that sometimes it's necessary to sacrifice our desires for the happiness of others.

"How long are you going to keep her waiting?" my assistant asked, undeterred by my fury.

"As long as I see fit," I replied rudely.

"Why don't you just do what you want and get it over with?" Ryan insisted.

"I'm not asking for your advice, and I certainly don't intend to listen to what you have to say," I retorted. "I'll do it my way."

Ryan went to the bar and poured himself another glass of brandy, the third one. I knew he was uncomfortable with the situation I had created to teach Rachel, the spoiled girl, a lesson. Despite disagreeing with it completely, I valued our friendship. Even though he was reluctant, I insisted that he accompany me on the yacht ride.

"I don't pay you to drink my best liquor."

"I'm also not paid to be an accomplice to a crime, yet here I am," Ryan replied.

Ryan wasn't intimidated by me and always spoke his mind. That's why I promoted him from an intern to my persistence in my telecommunications company, Anglo-X. It was a position of utmost trust but demanded a lot from the person who held it.

"I don't know where you got this idea of a crime from. Everything is being done with the girl's consent," I said dismissively. "She's here because she wanted to be."

“She's here because she felt desperate enough to accept selling her virginity for money.”

“That just shows how self-interested she is. Another quality of my dear Rachel…” I said mockingly.

We are now on the main deck of my yacht, the Mary-Mary, after I instructed a maid to take Rachel to the lower deck, where there was a romantically set table. It was a trap to deceive that shallow girl, creating false hopes, but there was no planned romance for that night.

I wasn't in a hurry to execute my plan. While I conversed with my rebellious assistant, comfortably seated on a luxurious couch, enjoying the background music and savoring a good whiskey, Rachel was out there, probably thinking and fearing what was to come.

Upon further thought, she was indeed self-interested and perhaps only concerned about the money she would receive. However, she had nothing else to offer, and I made sure of that as well.

“She doesn't know she fell into a trap created by you, from losing everything she had to the invention of this fake auction app you had created, all intending to have her at your complete disposal, to humiliate her.”

“I don't understand how I can be blamed for Patrick being addicted to gambling and, even worse, a born loser who didn't know when to stop.” Despite justifying myself, I was smiling, relying on luck at every step of my revenge.

“You took advantage of the trust he placed in you, Kael. You let him drown in debts and then bought his company, promising things you had no intention of fulfilling. Or rather, you didn't fulfill them.”

Ryan was speaking the truth, but I felt no remorse or guilt, as he expected. Everything was aligning for me to avenge my mother, and I was willing to go all the way for it. I would have no compassion for Rachel. She would have to humiliate herself before me, just as my mother had done to prevent Patrick from leaving her, simply because their daughter couldn't accept him having another woman besides her deceased mother.

Rachel didn't know that Patrick and my mother hadn't been a couple for a long time and were only keeping up appearances for the sake of their daughters. Patrick had been having an affair with my mother for years, since my teenage years.

When Patrick's wife passed away, my mother hoped they could finally be together publicly and be happy. However, Rachel discovered the relationship and threatened to take her own life, blackmailing Patrick. He asked my mother to wait, promising to acknowledge their relationship when the time was right.

After a year, my mother, tired of being the mistress, gave an ultimatum. Patrick chose to follow Rachel's wishes and left my mother, even after all the time they had spent together in secret.

But Mary was deeply saddened by the separation and sank into depression, needing to be hospitalized. I visited her regularly, but her health deteriorated further with Patrick's death. Rachel was to blame for all of this! She would suffer just as much as my mother had since losing her true love.

“You promised to take care of Rachel and Sarah as if they were your sisters!” Ryan continued to insist.

He had been giving me the same speech for days, but I was only returning evil with evil. It's simple.

“ I will ensure that Sarah has a decent job.”

As much as the two sisters were physically similar, their personalities were opposite, and I had done extensive research on both of them, even hiring a private investigation agency to ensure all the facts. The truth was that Sarah was truly very different from her twin sister.

“That's not enough.”

“ Sarah also made some mistakes by allowing herself to be influenced by Rachel. - I said, taking a long sip of my whiskey.” She didn't think about the future, only focusing on following her sister on trips and outings.

“Don't you think you're being too harsh?”

“I am.” I placed the empty glass on the side table and walked towards the staircase leading to a hallway, which would take me to the lower deck. “And I feel no remorse for it.”

I didn't bother to listen to what Ryan intended to say and continued at a brisk pace, anticipating the pleasure I would feel at being face to face with Rachel and how extraordinary it would be to do that, being in a position of superiority and making her feel in the worst possible way. Nothing could make me go back on my decision.
