I was curled up in my room, the place that was supposed to be a refuge, but felt more like a prison. After what had happened with Daniel, I could barely move. The pain of the betrayal still burned in my chest, as if every breath was an effort not to fall apart completely.

I could still hear the muffled shouts of Tomás downstairs, arguing on the phone as he did every night, always nervous and impatient. I was used to these outbursts, but that day, something seemed different. The voices were louder and his tone was more urgent than usual.

Curious, I approached the slightly open door of my room to try to hear better.

“Yes, everything is ready! Tomorrow she'll be yours. Yes, I know about the contract. No, she doesn't know anything yet. Just send the money and she's yours.”

My heart froze. I was paralyzed, unable to process what I had just heard. Tomás' voice was so full of malice and certainty that it was impossible not to notice. He was talking about me.

He'd sold me out.

I felt a lump in my throat as the brutal truth revealed itself. I wasn't just dead weight to him; I was merchandise, something to be traded for the right price. I took a deep breath, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to fall, but despair overtook me. Tomás was willing to get rid of me at any price. And now he had found a buyer.

I couldn't hear the rest of the conversation. Everything around me began to blur, as if the world was closing in on me. I went back to my room and closed the door carefully, trying not to attract attention.

I sat on the edge of the bed, hugging my knees and trying to figure out what it all meant. Who would buy a person? What kind of monster would do something like that? He wasn't a normal person. He was someone with enough money to buy a woman, someone who saw people as objects.

The hours passed, but I couldn't sleep. Fear kept me awake, like a constant shadow hanging over me. Every noise in the house sounded threatening, as if someone would come and take me away at any moment. I knew I had to do something, but I had nowhere to run, no one to ask for help. I was alone, caught in a trap from which I couldn't escape.

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of banging on the door. Tomás entered without asking permission, his expression colder than ever. He had a satisfied smile on his lips, as if he had finally got rid of a burden.

“Get dressed. Someone's coming for you,” he ordered, throwing an old suitcase at my feet.

“What are you doing? I asked, my voice shaky but determined. I knew the answer, but a part of me still hoped it was all just a misunderstanding.

“It's none of your business,” he replied dismissively. “You should be grateful. You'll leave this house and never come back. He paid a fortune for you.”

I couldn't believe my ears. “Who? Who would buy someone like that?”

Tomás shrugged as if it didn't matter at all. “A man with money, influence and motives that are none of your business. Do what he says.”

I wanted to scream, hit him, cry. But I knew it wouldn't do any good. Tomás didn't care how I felt and there was no one to save me. With no other choice, I put on the clothes he'd given me and went downstairs.

Downstairs, Vanessa was leaning against the door with a smug smile on her face. Her eyes sparkled with cruel pleasure as she watched me walk down the stairs.

“So today's the day, is it?” she mocked, her voice full of false sympathy. “I'm finally getting rid of you, you bastard. Who knew someone would pay so much for a freak? There really is a taste for everything out there.”

I tried to ignore her and concentrate on what I needed to do to keep my sanity. But her words were sharp blades, cutting into my skin that was already so scarred by humiliation. Vanessa loved to see me suffer; for her, my pain was an entertaining spectacle.

“I just hope your new husband doesn't send you back in a few days,” she continued, laughing, ”or you'll end up back here, and nobody wants that, do they?”

I felt a lump in my throat, but held my head high. I wouldn't give her the satisfaction of seeing me break down. “You'll never see me again,” I muttered, pushing the suitcase towards her. But deep down, her words echoed a fear that I couldn't shake off.

Outside, a black luxury car was parked. The dark windows didn't allow me to see who was inside. When the car door opened, a man stepped out. Tall, wearing a suit, with an expression that exuded authority. His presence was oppressive, and everything about him screamed danger. He had visible scars on his hands and neck and cold, calculating eyes.

He approached with firm, controlled steps. Every movement exuded a kind of raw power, something that made me even more alert. I had never seen him before, but I knew that this man was not ordinary.

“Let's go,” he said, without bothering to give any more details. His voice was low and controlled, filled with a dangerous confidence. “We don't have all day.”

I stood paralyzed, trying to process what was happening. Was this the man Tomas had sold me to? He looked like a predator, not someone who would be interested in marrying me.

Tomas, impatient, pushed me towards the man with force. “Be a good girl and get in the car,” he said with an air of mockery.

The man held out his hand to guide me into the car, but there was nothing gentle about the gesture. It was a controlled movement, a silent order that I had to obey.

With my heart racing, I got into the car. The interior was dark, luxurious, but there was nothing comfortable about it. He didn't say anything, he just watched me with those cold eyes, analyzing my every move as if he were deciding what to do with me.

It was a long drive until the luxury car pulled up in front of a gigantic mansion that exuded power. Before I could open the door, a maid pulled me out as if she had been expecting me. As she led me inside by the arm, the man lit a cigar.

“Get her ready for me, I'll be waiting in the master bedroom,” he said, as I was dragged inside.
