Chapter Seven

Dagen's POV

I head towards my office, then I meet Felix, the head warrior of my pack, in the hallway.

“They are all inside,” he notified me while pointing to the courtroom.

I went inside with Edvin and Felix strutting behind me.

“And to what do I owe your visit, elders?” I said cutting straight to the chase while reaching out to a chair to sit down. I am in no mood to exchange pleasantries; they are here for a reason, and deep down, I think this has to do with the news of me finding my mate.

The Council elder wolves are high-ranking members of the Council courts and are highly respected amongst the werewolf kinds, due to their long existence.

“From the coldness laced in your tone, we are getting the feeling that we are not welcomed in your territory, Alpha Dagen.”

My gaze fixed on Elder Davis, who spoke, as he leaned back more comfortably in his chair. I'm not surprised by his words at all. We don't see eye to eye because I killed his close friend, who is also a member of the Elder Council, for questioning my authority.

I don't need to mask my feelings in their presence. Their presence here simply smelt trouble, one that I'm not ready to entertain. Nevertheless, I tried putting up a little smile for them.

“I apologize greatly. But I'm in a hurry, so I'd appreciate it if we could just go straight to the point and get over this.”

Elder Lucas shuffled in his chair, his hand folded under his chin. “Very well then.”

“It is to our knowledge that you have found your mate, Alpha Dagen,” Elder Thaddeus began.

At the mention of the word "mate,” a wave of anger surged through me. “I see you are too interested in my pack business.” I kept an expressionless face and my demeanor neutral while I scanned the faces of the elders one after the other before I continued.

“May I remind you that whatever happens in my pack is none of your business, as long as we don't break the rules of the Council?” I try to remind them in case they have forgotten their place. They might be old wolves and well respected in the whole realm, but they have no right to meddle in the affairs of my pack.

“You are correct, Alpha Dagen, and trust us, we don't want to be here, how much more to meddle in the affairs of your pack, but this is important to us.” Elder Walker spoke up, his voice echoing off the corner walls. “And as the old wolves, we have an obligation to perform.”

“And what is that?” I asked, feeling confused.

“The Luna coronation,” elder Jude, who had been quiet, spoke up.

I felt Edvin and Felix twitch beside me but didn't say a word.

“In every pack, it has been our duty to coronate the Lunas, and in this case, you have found your mate,” Elder Walker added.

“That's fine by me, but you will only be crowning Nydia Foxe as my Luna, just like I said in the past.” I watched as their demeanor turned cold after my statement.

Even though I already had a plan to make Gina my Luna to the public eyes while Nydia performed the Luna duties in the shadows, I wanted to see if I could frustrate the elder Council into agreeing to crown Nydia as my Luna instead of making that rogue b***h, Gina, my Luna.

Nydia has always been the one and only woman in my life; she's the love of my life, and I believe she's destined for me. She and she alone deserve to be my Queen and Luna without faking it. Not a rogue who the moon goddess had carelessly tossed in my path.

I met Nydia after so many years of searching for my mate; her brother, Edvin, has been my beta for years. She left her old pack a few years ago after her mate rejected her and came to our pack to live with her brother. From the first day I saw her at my office, I knew I wanted to make her my mate, and Luna. Fated mate or not, I wanted her for myself.

I informed the Elders Council of my plans to make Nydia my Luna back then, but they declined, saying she was not my destined mate. And now they are here, trying to make a rogue my Luna.

“She is not your destined mate, Alpha Dagen.” Elder Davis said.

“She is the one I have chosen as my Luna,” I replied.

“And what about your destined mate? If you've already made your choice on Nydia, why then haven't you rejected your mate yet? Don't delude yourself, Alpha Dagen, even you can't be immune to the mate bond.” Elder Walker replied, staring at me.

“Your destined mate will be crowned Luna on the night of the full moon, which is two nights away,” Elder Thaddeus added.

“As the supreme Elder wolves of the Council courts, we've made our decision.” Elder Davis said, and all the Elders were up on their feet.

Gina's POV

I sat alone inside the room, and all I could think about was the fact that my mate refused to be my mate but wanted to use me as a slave. I hated this fate. My wolf, Raven, cried in pain. Never did I think I would be destined for this kind of fate. I never wanted this fate for me.

I always felt I would be with Harlin because there's a common belief that, before a male wolf recognizes his true mate, he is instinctively attracted to and protective of her, even though he isn’t yet aware that she is his destined mate, but instead he chooses Anayah, my own sister, as his mate.

The door creaks open and I sit up immediately, wondering what the maid wants. Much to my surprise, it is Alpha Dagen. His presence makes me scared and angry. What does he want now?

Dagen's eyes narrowed on me. He took a fierce step toward me.

“In two days, on the full moon, the Council will be holding the Luna's ceremony for you,” he suddenly said. “Don't make any stupid mistakes,” he warned, turning his back to me before walking out.
