Chapter 6 Breaking All Pretense

They never expected Emma to be in the bathroom, and she even said such things.

In the hospital hallway, it felt like time just stopped. Emma was staring daggers at Anna, her anger ready to explode. The tension was so thick. After their latest spat, Emma's rage towards Anna was off the charts.

"You bitch!" Emma hissed, her voice like ice. "You played George for your own gain, you shameless snake!"

"You jerk, how dare you talk to Anna like that! You're asking for it!" Olivia, fuming, swung at Emma again.

Anna just smirked, her eyes dancing with mischief, totally unfazed. "You're hilarious. An orphan with no one to care for you, thinking you can insult me? You think being on the 'right side' makes you better?"

"Your shamelessness makes me sick!" Emma shot back, her anger blazing. "You'll do anything to get what you want, you're disgusting!"

Emma had already given up on the family bond she once held dear. The so-called sisterhood was just a big fat lie.

"Disgusting?" Anna's voice dripped with sarcasm. "I'm just fighting for my happiness, and you think you can take something that was never yours?"

"You always justify your selfishness!" Emma was so mad she could barely keep it together. "Our marriage was arranged by Charles, not something you can wreck with your schemes!"

"If you were really that sure, you wouldn't be here." Anna stepped closer, her eyes blazing. "You have to divorce him!"

Looking at Anna and Olivia, Emma just laughed. "Dream on. I'm never divorcing him. I'll be George's wife for life!"

"Emma, don't push it!" Anna was livid. "I won't let you win!"

"I've already won. Everyone in Lakeside Haven knows George's wife is me, not you."

With that, Emma turned and walked away, ignoring Anna's furious curses.

Emma left TeleHealth Hospital and headed to CyberMed Hospital.

She was worried that last night's romp with George and the beating she took might affect the baby.

She looked around at the pregnant women, all with their doting husbands, and felt a stab of pain. Unlike them, she was alone. George was with Anna, not her.

A man nearby smiled at his wife, "I know it's tough being pregnant, and since I can't do it for you, I'm here with you."

Emma felt even more bitter, her envy plain as day.

Suddenly, there was a commotion, and hospital staff rushed over. "Quick! A woman’s in labor, make way!"

Emma's heart skipped a beat. She saw a young pregnant woman, pale and clutching her husband's hand, fear in her eyes. The husband held her hand tight, his voice calm and soothing, "Don't worry, I'm here. Everything will be fine."

Emma was stunned, feeling a pang of envy and jealousy. She watched the couple, longing for someone to be there for her like that. George had married her, but it was a forced marriage, not one of love.

The room was a whirlwind of activity as doctors worked to help the woman in labor. Emma was glued to the scene, silently praying, "I hope she has a smooth delivery."

Before the woman's treatment was done, Emma's test results came back.

Thankfully, the baby was fine.

Emma wandered outside for a while before heading home. She used to love this house, loved waiting for George to come back.

But now, it felt like a prison.

As she walked in, she saw George on the sofa. His sharp features were clouded with anger.

"Did you just go see Anna again?" George's voice was ice cold.
