Chapter 8 She Was Pregnant

Just as their argument was about to blow up again, Anna's eyes flashed with a fierce glint, like she was ready to throw down with Emma.

"Quit acting all high and mighty! I'll show you what I can do!" Anna's lips twisted into a cold smile as she stepped closer.

"What do you want?" Emma was fuming, a mix of fear and helplessness bubbling inside her.

The tension skyrocketed. Anna raised her hand, swinging it hard towards Emma.

Without thinking, Emma dodged and slapped Anna right across the face! The smack echoed, and Anna stumbled back, hitting the ground with her cheek red and swollen.

"You..." Anna was stunned, not expecting Emma to fight back. Angersurged inside her.

But as she crumpled at the hospital room doorway, Anna's expression flipped. Her eyes turned all weak and innocent, tears welling up as she whimpered, "Why did you hit me?"

Just then, the hospital room door swung open, and George walked in. He was there to visit Emma but froze seeing Anna on the ground. His heart clenched, and he rushed forward.

"Anna! What happened?" George's eyes were full of concern and pain as he bent down to help Anna up, immediately sensing the gravity of the situation.

"George, don't be mad. Emma didn't mean to hit me, she was just too angry." Anna, with tearful eyes, pointed at Emma, barely hiding her inner malice.

The accusation hit George like a ton of bricks, and his anger flared up, his feelings towards Emma like a stormy sea.

"How dare you hit Anna?" he demanded, then slapped Emma across the face, his voice dripping with anger, "How could you do that? She's your sister!"

Emma's cheek burned with pain, her eyes wide with disbelief and despair. She couldn't understand why her love had led to such misunderstanding and hurt.

"How can you trust her so easily?" Emma's tears streamed down, full of confusion, "She was provoking me on purpose, that's why I fought back!"

"Enough! I don't want to hear your excuses!" George's eyes were blazing with anger and disappointment.

Emma's heart was heavy with a sense of injustice and despair, her vision blurred as tears fell. She tried to hold back her sadness, but the broken trust felt like a knife cutting through her heart.

In this sudden mess, the hospital room's atmosphere grew more and more tense, while Anna secretly enjoyed her victory, knowing she had successfully driven a wedge between George and Emma.

"Emma!" George's voice grew colder, like he had lost all patience.

Emma's heart felt like it was being crushed, making it hard to breathe. Tears flowed uncontrollably, and she couldn't find the words to explain. She kept crying out inside, but it seemed pointless.

"I just wanted to protect myself." She weakly defended herself, but her response only made her feel more isolated and helpless, "Listen to me, she's lying to you."

"Emma, don't be like this. It's my fault. Don't be mad. Blame me all you want, but don't take it out on the baby inside me. This is George's child."

Anna covered her cheek, crying pitifully.

"George, don't blame Emma. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have fallen in love with you, but I hope you can talk to Emma and stop her from hurting our baby."

Baby?

Anna was also carrying George's child?

No! Emma remembered that three months ago, Anna had set a trap but ended up in the wrong room and slept with a jerk. Even though she was pregnant, the child's paternity was still up for debate.
