Chapter 5

"I think you're more mafia than mafia itself," Gerry complimented to me.

I just smiled, actually my brain was still trying to digest what had just happened at Mr Jerry's house. I was still unfocused and trying to dig up information in my memory that had been buried in my mind for so long. I'm actually a typical person who wants to forget things that I think are painful to me so that I can concentrate on new things that I think are more important.

I was sure that what Samuel said was not just nonsense, but something that had really happened, but I deliberately forgot about it to minimise the excessive worry and fear that was always stored in my mind.

"You seem strange, as if something has been bothering you ever since you came back from my parents' house until now. Are you so afraid of my father that you've gone into a daze? We haven't even done one percent of what we set out to do. Are we going to retreat so quickly just because of threats from my father and that troublesome woman?"

The constant questions coming out of Gerry's mouth made me feel tired and irritated. I just needed time to think and didn't need to answer all the questions Gerry threw at me within a split second of the question being asked.

I chuckled and looked irritated at Gerry. "Can you stop babbling when I'm thinking? Do I have to answer your question now? My silence doesn't mean I'm scared, it just means I'm thinking. Just so you know, I'm a person who's always thinking about what I'm going to do next. So you can see me as a doubter, you're just another way for me to be more careful in every decision I make in life".

Gerry looked at me seriously, but not sharply. "Does that mean you're afraid of the old man? Doesn't that mean you're reluctant to go on this mission with me?"

I let out a long sigh. "I'm not like you, who is very speculative, even though what you did was successful. Besides, as you know, I'm the new person in your life, which means that I have to read the situation and also think about how I'm going to act so that I don't look ridiculous on this mission. But if you really want me to do this mission casually, I won't mind.

Gerry cleared his throat quietly. "Tsk, I could have just asked someone else to do the job you're doing now. You talk a lot, you're so talkative."

When I heard that, I was offended. "Then find someone else who can do what I do."

I opened the car door and walked away. To be honest, although I love money, anything that involves protesting my performance offends me greatly. It's like throwing dirt at me when I'm trying to clean it up, I think I've done what I think is right, even though this matter is very trivial, but Gerry doesn't want to understand and is acting very childish.

To hell with his good looks, because I don't need good looks if he doesn't understand. Besides, this mission seems dangerous to me, even though the rewards are great, and as you know, I'm a rather hesitant person. And when I do something dangerous, I have to think carefully and even decide after thinking repeatedly. This is the first time I'm willing to take a risk for something so dangerous.

"Hey! Come back! What's wrong with your head? You changed so much after meeting that damn guy! Were you just seduced by the hug and the sweet words from his damn mouth?"

Can you guys hear what this dirty man said? There was no apology from his mouth and he even called me names with words that really hurt my feelings. I want to see how far he will go with his stupid and selfish behaviour, I won't stop until he apologises. I'm not even afraid of losing the deal with him. I'm not at a disadvantage because I haven't given her anything so far.

I kept walking, my eyes blurred for some reason, I just noticed that my eyes had glazed over and I kept holding back the tears. It's so stupid that I'm crying so quickly just because of that annoying guy.

"Wait for me, you fool!"

I heard the footsteps of that big body and long legs, the friction between the fabric of his expensive suit sounding so clear in the wind that was blowing hard that night. I kept walking away, so disgusted by his behaviour.

"Hey! Are you deaf? Stop and listen to me!"

It turned out that my footsteps were being overtaken by the footsteps of this big man, yes, it turned out that not only was he big, but he was moving very fast with his heavy body. Gerry grabbed my hand and immediately stopped me from leaving him. There was no way I'd be able to get out of his grip, being so skinny and smaller than him.

When I turned my head towards him, I saw a flat face with a lazy stare, but I'm sure that lazy stare wasn't just a lazy stare, there was something implied.

"What else? Didn't you say you could find someone new to help you with your plan? Then just do it. I don't mind losing this deal and throwing away the chance to make money from you. Let's just say we never met and our relationship is over," I said, choking back tears.

"Don't be stubborn, crybaby boy, besides being stubborn you are also arrogant. Don't think I'm holding out for this deal because I can't find anyone else and only want to do this mission with you. But it will look ridiculous if I introduce you as my lover and suddenly choose someone else to continue the lie. Just so you know, I won't be able to persuade you if you insist on it again.

I felt something cold pressed against my neck and, after glancing around, I realised I had a knife pressed against the side of my neck.

"I think you will only refuse if your life is in danger. Since you're a stupid person and don't understand the importance of money, I think this is the right way to teach your stupid brain," Gerry said in a flat and piercing tone.
