Chapter 9
At the hotel entrance, the rep from the investors was already there.
The main dude, tall and lean with sharp features, was none other than Nathan. His stare was icy, lips tight, giving off some serious boss vibes.
"Nathan, it's Nathan!"
"Whoa, he's super hot, like the most perfect guy in Aurora City!"
People started buzzing, but Nathan just strolled into the hotel, bodyguards in tow, not even glancing around.
Director William Smith rushed over, "Mr. Kennedy, you're here."
Nathan gave a barely-there "Hmm."
"Sweetie, you're here!" Roxanne came up to him.
In private, she wouldn't dare cling to Nathan, but in public, she could act all close. He wouldn't react, but he wouldn't embarrass her either.
Nathan shot her a look, and Roxanne quickly pulled back her hand that was about to link with his.
"Let's get started. Mr. Kennedy's on a tight schedule," Nathan's assistant, Jack Johnson, piped up.
Meanwhile, Sarah noticed Caroline was missing. She was freaking out because she couldn't find her, and there was no answer on the phone.
At the audition spot, William kicked things off and saw Demi was a no-show. Feeling embarrassed in front of Nathan, he looked pissed. He had another actress auditioning for the second female lead step in.
Seeing Sarah's hard-earned chance slipping away, she got even more frantic. She searched the whole hotel but couldn't find Caroline, so she called home.
Sophie answered, "Hi, this is Sophie at Sarah's home."
Sarah asked, "Sophie, has Caroline come back?"
"No, isn't Mommy at the audition?"
"Yeah, but I can't find her now. If she hasn't come home, just stay put. I'll hang up now."
The call ended with a beep.
Sophie ran into the room and jumped into Ryan's arms, who was gaming on the computer. "Ryan, something's wrong. Mommy's missing!"
Ryan frowned. "Mommy went to the audition. How could she be missing?"
"Sarah said so. She said Mommy disappeared at the audition site."
Ryan immediately shut off his game. He remembered Sarah mentioning yesterday that Caroline's audition was at the Celestial Waters Hotel.
With his chubby little fingers flying over the keyboard, it took him less than a minute to hack into the Celestial Waters Hotel's surveillance system.
Ryan was super smart and really into computers. While abroad, he even won a big-deal programming competition. So, he handled this stuff like a pro.
But as soon as he pulled up the surveillance, he saw some areas of the Celestial Waters Hotel had their cameras manually shut down half an hour ago.
Ryan's brows knitted together, and he quickly called Sarah. "Sarah, something's up with Mom. Go ask the front desk if anyone suspicious left with big luggage around that time."
