Chapter Six

Once again I was dreaming, but something felt off. This place was different I had never seen it before. I heard voices up ahead of me, I made my way behind some bushes and listened to see who was talking.

" Do you think it will work?" I heard a raspy voice speak. " It has to we have no choice, but to kill the girl or we are done for Everett." I heard a different male voice say as someone else approached them.

" Boss we don't even know what her gift is." I heard the third male say at that moment I knew they were talking about me. I panicked and took off running as fast as I could.

I knew they were behind me and coming quick, all of a sudden they had me surrounded with red eyes and sharp teeth.

"Darling, rise and shine! Are you alright?" Charles's voice pierced through my slumber. I leaped to my feet, scanning the room—safely back in our bedroom.

"They're on my tail, they won't stop!" I cried out. "Who's after you, Mary?" Charles's eyes were wide with concern. "A guy named Everett and his gang,"

I wept, seeking refuge in his embrace. Suddenly, my parents charged in, "What's the matter, Princess?" Dad's voice had that 'checking-under-the-bed-for-monsters' tone.

I spilled every bizarre detail of my dream, and Mom nodded, convinced my superpowers decided to RSVP early.

Dad and Charles huddled up for a pow-wow with the King, strategizing against the baddies plotting my abduction. Meanwhile, I was drowning in a sea of emotions.

As my mother tenderly stroked my hair, with my head nestled in her lap, I quizzed her, "Mom, how did you and Dad know to come in here?" She gazed down,

"Well, everyone's talents are unique, my dear. Charles, for instance, can read minds and ping people telepathically," she revealed.

"Cool, and your superpower, Mom?" I inquired with a spark of curiosity. "Dream chatting and a bit of wind-making," she grinned a hint of mischief in her eyes.

"Oh, like that 'tornado' during your spat with Dad when I was little?" I recalled. She nodded, her cheeks tinged with pink. "Impressive! And Dad's trick?"

I prodded. "Your father's a maestro of the elements, hence his top spot in the King's army," she beamed with pride. "He's like a superhero," I marveled.

Our conversation meandered on, and I discovered my sister's knack for mind-bending. Turns out, vampires might luck out with one or two abilities, but we hit the jackpot with a duo of powers and a flair for spellcasting.

After my nerves settled, I showered and dressed up for the day, complete with makeup. I was eager to make a good impression on my future in-laws.

Feeling Lisa's absence, I popped into her room to check on her. "Hey sleepy head," I greeted, finding her cozily perched on Randall's lap.

"Oops, didn't mean to barge in," I apologized. "No worries, I've got things to do. Catch you later, Lisa," Randall said, leaving a kiss on Lisa's blushing face.

"Yay!" she chirped, and I chuckled at her bubbly reaction. "Spill the beans," I urged, lobbing a pillow at her. As she gushed about Randall, I shared my dream and engagement news. We reveled in each other's joy, truly happy for one another.

After our discussion, we headed to the library to commence our training with my mother. She expertly instructed us in combat fighting techniques and shared essential spells to use in case of an attack.

We trained diligently until lunchtime, after which my mother expressed her satisfaction with our progress and concluded our training for the day.

I walked from the library to the dining hall and sat beside Charles for lunch. "Mary, I want you to meet my parents, Vivian and Arthur," he said.

"How do you do?" I smiled. "Hello, my dear," Vivian beamed. "Charles, she's stunning. You will give me gorgeous grandchildren," she hugged me and took her seat.

I was telling King Arthur about my dream, and he assured me he would do all he could to protect me.

The corridor echoed with a piercing scream, and my mother rushed in, her eyes filled with urgency. "It's time, Becky is going into labor," she exclaimed before hurrying back out, with my father trailing behind her.

Charles took my hand, and together we made our way to the hospital wing of the Castle. Anxious moments passed as we waited in the small, dimly lit waiting area.

Finally, my mother reappeared and gestured for us to follow her. As we entered the room, I caught sight of my sister cradling her newborn son in her arms – a tiny, fragile bundle, wrapped in soft blue blankets.

"Would you like to hold him, Mary?" my sister asked, passing him to our mom, who then gently placed him in my arms. Noah's tender presence filled me with overwhelming love and affection.

"Hi little Noah, you are so precious. I am your auntie, and I love you," I whispered to him as he nestled in my arms. Reluctantly, I handed him back to his mother.

"Becky, he seems hungry," Charles kindly alerted her, and she gratefully acknowledged his help. We quietly stepped out to give them privacy while she tended to Noah's needs.

After leaving the hospital wing, my stomach made its hunger known. Charles remarked, "Dinner should be ready," as we made our way to the dining room.

It was just the two of us there, and we settled in for our meal. When we were done, Charles swept me off my feet and carried me back to our room.

I found my footing and fetched some nightwear from the closet. Changed and teeth brushed, I snuggled next to Charles in bed. "I love you, Mary," he whispered, and those sweet words escorted me into sleep.
