THREE
Stefen POV
"Mate!" That was the second time that I was hearing those words from these lips...
The last time that it had happened was in the forest when I had turned rogue, the mate bond had brought me back to my senses.
When I came to the pack, I never thought that I was going to find my mate. I was rather on a mission to get someone dead by an organization that was even bigger than my conference and I couldn't say no.
They had a firm grip on my past. And I had thought, where would be the best place to meet a she-wolf that was of mating age? Certainly at the mating ball.
But I also thought about the fact that I had met my mate just a few moments ago. I could not allow her to get wrapped in my issues and for this reason, I had sprayed an anti-mate scent so that she would not be able to sniff me out through the crowd.
However, it was more like the moon goddess was playing tricks with us. I held her hands tightly and stared into the eyes of this little wolf. So beautiful that I wanted her again until I heard a banging sound on the door.
"How long do you think that you will be able to run bitch. You smell like rotten apples and anyone would be able to sniff you out in two seconds!" A strong male voice lashed out from the other end of the door.
The shivering of her body made my body shake a little. At first, I had thought that the she-wolf that had run into the male bathroom was one of those frustrated sluts but it turns out otherwise.
She was rather being chased by a group of people. My face grew even more cold than it was previously and still holding her hands, I made my way towards the door.
"Please.. mate.. please don't open the door. Those people outside are really powerful. We could wait out here until they eventually tire out so that we can leave!" She said, Her voice was dripping over with fear at the moment.
I stared at her with a prickle of emotion that I had not felt in years, gradually stealing into me. A few moments later, my face returned to the cold length that it once was initially and I scoffed.
Disregarding her words, I walked towards the door and parted it open gradually. She was shivering her legs out still.
My eyes met with the fiery gaze of a man that I seemed to recognize but he barely spared me a single glance.
All his anger was directed towards the little she-wolf at the moment and he attempted to strike her with a terrible slap.
Unfortunately for him,my body was overreacting to the bond and I held his hands. From the strength that this person was trying to pull off, I could tell that he was an Alpha. However, I was not just any Alpha.
Seeing that his strength paled in comparison to mine. He paused for the first time when he started his act and stared at me.
It was at that moment that he froze. His face was completely drained out of color as he fell to his knees and shivered.
"Please Alpha Stefen. Please forgive your lowly subordinate!"
"And you are?" I inquired.
"Alpha of the Allied group pack. Please don't mind my niece. She doesn't know who you are!" He continued to shiver.
But I could hardly hear any further words that he was saying. The name came back to my head as I turned around towards the she-wolf.
Her eyes were popping out from her eye socket after hearing my name. And from the bond, I could easily tell that a part of her was happy.
It drew out the color on my face. But I needed to know more about her to make sure that I wasn't making a mistake.
"Is your name by any means Elena Jade?" I inquired with a sense of rising urgency.
From the confused and stunned looks on their faces, I didn't need anyone to tell me the answer to the question that I just asked.
I was boiling over with rage on the outside while at the same time trying to control myself on the outside. Turning over to the Alpha, I glared and slapped him right in the face.
"This is for trying to lay those filthy hands of yours on my mate!" I glared at him.
Even with the slap that was just mouthed out on his face, he still kept on appreciating me as I went further with what I had to say.
"If you don't mind! I will be taking my mate back to the central pack right away. Will there be a problem with that?" I inquired specifically, waiting for his answer.
"No! Alpha. Anything that you wish for!"
As a man of few words, there was no need for me to stand there waiting anymore. "We have to go!' I announced it to her in one sentence.
Those were the only words that I spoke to her when we eventually got into the car to the central pack house.
She was lost in a daze still staring at the window. I knew exactly what was going on in her mind. But the faster that I needed to get over this, the better.
When we got to the pack house, I showed her to her room. It was going to be temporary anyway before I found a solution to all of this.
"This will be your room for now, she wolf!" I decided not to call her by her name.
"Elena! That's my name!" I could see a smile trying to prick through her shy face.
"I already know. But I will reserve the right to calling you a she-wolf and I want you to do the same until I decide otherwise!" I replied to her.
The smile that was trying to pipe up suddenly lost its stance and she returned to her once shy self, nodded her head, and said at the same time.
"Okay, my. Alpha!" She said,
"Better!" I snapped.
"I will get a group of maids to send you clothes. For the time being, you can go in there and wake yourself up" I gestured to the bathroom and once again, she nodded.
Immediately I was out of the place, the next place that I went to was my pocket. I needed to call the head of the Werewolf council which was run by the most powerful werewolf in the city.
After killing my father to become the Alpha and growing into a conference, I had to face them. At some point, I wanted to fight with this group of powerful people but it was impossible. I had to eventually bend to their shadow rule.
And just a week ago, they wanted someone who should have been dead to stay the day.
"Alpha Stefen! The fact that you are calling should mean that the work is done already. That Elena Jade is lurking in her grave?" A voice streamed off from the other end of the line.
I paused for a while before going ahead to give the response that I had not formed in my head before making this phone call.
"Not yet! But I am making good progress!"
"That's great! But remember that you have a deadline! Failure to do that and we will help you do your job! And I know that you aren't going to like that!" The call ended.
I growled furiously smashing the cell phone to the floor. One of the emotions that I could maintain apart from my cold look was my anger.
After a few moments in an attempt to cool down my angry nerves, I was finally able to bring myself to a calm.
"There is only one thing that I can do reject her and send her far beyond their reach while faking her death!" I resolved.
