CHAPTER 3: Family of Jinxes
If she could name the person she despises the most in the world, or the ones to whom God should declare "their end time has come," would she name her stepmother? But, sadly for her, it was her entire family. Wilsons are a family. She had never hated her father's family's name before, she always favored her mother's family name 'Gemflord' and not 'Wilson'.
Her father had abandoned her mother from the beginning, becoming an unfaithful man and a cheating husband.
Her mother was unaware of this until fifteen years into their marriage, when she discovered that her husband was cheating on her, seeing another woman, and having children with the lady. What a guy slacker! He couldn't even feel sorry for his small child.
Cheyenne was ten at the time. Her mother realized her husband had been cheating on her even before they married.
Her mother could not divorce her father because she considered it a sin. What a nonsense. A sin, her foot! But she couldn't blame her mother, a devoted Christian who always stood up for what was right, not wrong. Cheyenne's mother died of a stroke when she was fifteen, leaving Cheyenne all alone with her father.
Her father began to show his true colors by taking the other lady into his house, transforming her into his wife and her two daughters 'Janet and Ivy' as his other daughters, sending his first child into exile.
What a harsh father he is.
She despised her family, particularly her father. More so, she chose to bear her mother's name rather than his.
She ignored the call, and a beep was heard again. She yelled angrily when she saw her father's SMS message.
'There will be a meeting today, 11 a.m; please do not be late this time,' she read aloud.
With an eye roll, she tossed her phone onto her couch.
What he meant by 'this time' was that whenever her father called for something like this, she never took it seriously and was either late or never came. It reminded her of something she enjoys doing, especially when she understood it offends the wretched man.
......
She looked at the time; it was just 10:32 a.m. She rolled her eyes again, then returned her gaze to the document. "I should probably look into this guy instead of doing other useless things,"
She used her phone to Google the rumor. She then realized she had forgotten his name.
'The CEO is reported to be gay,' she texted, but instead of seeing a better and more eye-catching rumor, she saw other things.
"That was disheartening. Maybe the internet closed the case to keep the town quiet. "Rich people," she sighed, dropping her phone and sighing again.
"Perhaps I will be a little early after all," she mumbled, smirking.
'11:10'
Wilson's Manor
The entire family was gathered around the gorgeous dining room, which was lavishly decorated. A young man and an unidentified senior obese man sat with the Wilsons' family. They were cheerfully speaking while the unidentified elderly man sang accolades to Grace's (Cheyenne stepmother) children, particularly the eldest (Janet), who was blushing profusely.
Cheyenne strolled in gently, her gaze fixed on the family who sat round the dining table. She noticed two unknown people who sat next to the Wilsons. Before greeting her father, she sighed quietly.
"Good day, father," she said, sighing in the middle of her greetings.
"Ah yes,"
The young man sat there smiled at the lovely lady who had just entered the room like a fairy goddess. He finds her very attractive. At least, she is more attractive than the other two.
Cheyenne took a seat on an open seat. She hoped the empty space wasn't next to the young man staring at her as if he was about to consume her. But what could she possibly do? She sat down alongside him, putting a smile on his face.
Cheyenne looked him over carefully before sighing. He appears to be a drunk and a man with a lot of girlfriends. Cheyenne felt his hungry gaze and saw his visible eye bags.
She had been studying humans from infancy, so she knew what men do in their daily lives, by just looking at them.
His smile bespeaks lust, and his eyes bespeak lust, with so much eye bag for a young man like him. 'What a drunkard' she reflected.
"This is my first child, Cheyenne, but I'm disappointed..."
"She is beautiful," he interrupted the man. Cheyenne, who was frowning, was mentioned by the young man.
"My lady," he said as he took her hand and kissed her back.
What he did enraged Janet and Ivy. He never did that to them. Why does he have to prefer Cheyenne over one of them? To them, they are more gorgeous, renowned, and wealthier than Cheyenne, who is struggling to feed herself adequately.
Grace's and her husband's expressions were both glum. They regretted they hadn't invited Cheyenne in the first place, but Mr Francis demanded to see the entire Wilson daughter.
These were the high rated family in the state, and forming an alliance with the Wilson's would be beneficial to the company as well as profitable.
But the profits were supposed to be spent on Janet and Ivy, not Cheyenne.
Mr Wilson wished Mr Francis didn't find liking in his daughter Cheyenne, but what could he do? This is business they are talking about and business shouldn't be taken as a child's play.
"Uhhh...what's happening here?" Cheyenne questioned feeling so confused and lost, unable to get what was going around this table. What's up with the drunk?
"Mr Francis son, Sam Francis likes you. He is a nice young man," her father made her realize what was going on.
"And I will like to seek your hand in marriage, my dear." Sam completed smiling widely at the girl who suddenly scoffed loudly and angrily of course.
Cheyenne couldn't help but laugh. She laughed her heart out. A laughter of mockery and frustration. She then stopped laughing to look at the stupid guy with her teeth gritted.
What the heck does this people think she is? A dumbbass, a dummie, or a woman who needed a man to marry? It was like this people were mocking her. What is this? 19th century?
"What a jinx," she insulted looking at the guy angrily. "Infact, you all are jinx," she said with a chuckle, then stood up on her feet.
"Cheyenne, sit!!" Mr Wilson commanded.
"Why should I?! It's not like I am your favorite DAUGHTER." she snorted loudly purposely stressing the word 'Daughter' "and yes, why couldn't he ask your two fair children for a hand in marriage, do you think I am just a show off person? You all are jinxes," she blurted at them all in fury.
