Chapter Four Betrayal

Elena's POV.

As he stood up and walked towards me, his expression was completely devoid of emotion. But my mind was racing with yesterday's daylight betrayal. The image of him kissing her, his moans still echoing in my ears. It was a stark contrast to his words, "I'm not the kissing type," which he had once said to me.

Yet, he had kissed her with such passion, even moaning with pleasure. The memory fueled my anger, and I clenched my fists together, feeling a surge of resentment and betrayal.

He stood in front of me, his chest heaving with agitation, and I avoided eye contact, letting my hair fall over my face like a shield.

"Where were you last night?" he demanded, but I remained silent, fidgeting with the tip of my hair.

He let out a frustrated hiss. "Elena, I'm talking to you!" he said, his grip on my arms tightening as he forced me to meet his gaze. But I still refused to answer, my eyes locked on his with a defiant stare.

How could Adam cheat on me and still have the audacity to act like he owns me? The thought seethed in my mind like an open wound. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of a response, not after what he'd done.

Our eyes locked in a silent standoff. I could feel his anger and frustration, but I wouldn't back down. I was hurt, betrayed, and furious, and I wouldn't let him bully me into submission.

"Elena, where were you last night? Why didn't you pick my calls or respond to my messages?" Adam asked, his grip on my arms tightening.

I yanked my arms free, my eyes blazing with anger. "You have no right to ask me questions," I snapped, folding my arms across my chest.

Adam's eyes widened, his face reddening. "Can you listen to yourself, Elena? I have every fucking right to ask about your whereabouts because you're my girlfriend!"

My anger surged, and I took a step closer to him. "How dare you stand there and tell me you're my boyfriend? Do you know what that means? You don't, because if you did, you'd put some respect to that title!"

Adam frowned, confusion etched on his face. "What do you mean?" he asked, but I remained silent, my lips pressed together in a tight line.

I didn't want to reveal the truth - that our seemingly perfect relationship was a sham, filled with infidelity and betrayal.

How could I tell the world that the couple they all envied was a lie? The pain and humiliation were too much to bear, and I refused to give Adam the satisfaction of knowing he'd broken me.

I tried to walk away, but Adam yelled, "Elena, answer me, or else!" I spun back around, my anger boiling over.

"Or else what? You will go and kiss Anna like you did yesterday at the basketball court?" I shouted, my voice echoing through the hallway.

The students around us gasped, and I clenched my fists, feeling my face burn with embarrassment. I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath, and tried to calm down. "Ugh, I let Adam get to me," I muttered under my breath.

But then I heard the whisper behind me: "Oh lord, oh my, Adam and Anna are a thing!"

My eyes snapped open, and I saw that all eyes were on us, staring at the drama unfolding before them.

I let out a weary sigh, feeling like I was living a nightmare. The humiliation and betrayal were suffocating me, and I just wanted to escape.

"No, Elena, don't you dare lie about me!" Anna exclaimed, pushing Adam aside and facing me. I glared at her, my laughter bitter and mocking.

"Lie? What would I gain from lying? You're the one who's been sneaking around with my boyfriend!"

Anna's eyes narrowed. "Everything, Elena. You will gain every damn thing. You are falsely accusing us because you don't want to admit your own infidelity." Her words stung, but I stood my ground.

"I did not cheat!" I shouted, my eyes blazing with anger. "You and Adam betrayed me! You knew we were dating, but still, you decided to throw yourself at him. You pursued him, despite knowing he was taken!"

"Elena, you know I would never do such a thing," Anna said, tears streaming down her face. I rolled my eyes, unimpressed.

"How dare you turn black and white upside down? You were there when I slapped Adam at the basketball court, I’m surprised how you still have the audacity to lie to my face!" I yelled, my voice tinged with disgust.

"Slap who?" She asked, raising her eyebrows. "Elena, how could you lie so easily, we both know you did not slap Adam," she said her voice quivering as a lone tears escapes her eyes and she quickly wiped it.

"Actress of the year has begun," I scoffed. She ignored me and continued her facade.

"Elena, you know me. You, Mercy and I were close sisters. How could you accuse me falsely like this?" Anna's voice cracked as she spoke. "It's fine if you don't want me to be your friend, but accusing me of something like this..." She broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.

I was about to respond when Mercy interrupted, her voice firm and authoritative.

"Oh, spare me this drama. We both know she's telling the truth. You kissed Adam yesterday at the basketball court, Anna."

Mercy's words were like a punch to the gut, and Anna's tears suddenly seemed more like crocodile tears than genuine distress.

Anna's eyes flashed with anger as she looked up at us, her gaze shifting between Mercy and me. And she landed her gaze at Mercy.

"You? I knew you were jealous of my closeness with Elena. That's why you decided to lie. It's not my fault you aren't the daughter of an Alpha," Anna sneered.

Mercy's eyes widened in outrage. "What?!" she exclaimed, her voice echoing through the hallway.

"Oh you aren't deaf, you heard me right!" Anna said, her voice tinged with disgust.

Anna was the daughter of the Alpha of the Wildheart pack, while I was the daughter of the Shadowfang pack. Mercy, on the other hand, was the daughter of our pack's Beta.

Before I could defend Mercy, she took matters into her own hands. Her next action left all of us gasping in shock.

"Mercy!" I yelled, my voice echoing through the hallway.
