Chapter 2

Macy's face took on a look of trepidation, but I was unable to suppress my giggles and let them out in full voice.

"Those that are of a similar feather flock together." I said.

"Hey, stop it Velan!" she yelled while punching my arm.

I pressed my Index finger with my thumb and passed it over my mouth as a sign that my lips were sealed while listening to her wondrous love story as each of us engaged in our activity in the background.

I was cleaning up the mess that we had made, and she was watching over the soup.

"My ex-boyfriend is involved with someone who is a member of my circle of friends. I obstructed her when she was conversing with two other girls outside the college building, and she made fun of the way I was dressed. I revealed all of her flaws without exception because, as you should know by now, civility will not halt my tongue once it starts moving. She was going to slap me when Professor Ralph suddenly materialized in front of us and grabbed her hand."

I felt envious to the point that I put my hand on my chest.

It seemed like a scene straight out of a romantic comedy or drama.

She fetched fresh plates and arranged the food on them. The smaller plates held the accompaniments and the larger plates held the steaks.

Although some believe that love is more powerful than hatred, what happens if the two can coexist? There is nothing that can stop them!

I was more extroverted than Macy, but I didn't have any romantic experiences to talk about. On the other hand, she had two boyfriends while she was in her teens.

I never felt that spark with anyone else before- the spark of attraction that grew into a fire of wanting someone more than anything else.

We entered the living room to set the table once we were done conversing for a time.

The hall was traditional in style but had a contemporary air to it. The color beige predominated on the walls, oil paintings were hanging here and there, and a long table with a shiny chandelier on top of it.

Her father appeared in my line of sight as she was lowering the things she was carrying, like a bright full moon, which never failed to catch people's attention.

I forced myself to stand tall and respectfully make eye contact with him despite my anxiety.

"Hello, Mr. Sterling." I greeted in an almost audible voice.

"It's been a long time, Velan." He spoke to me in a raspy voice that made me feel something stir within me.

It seemed to me that his eyes were able to see right through me and uncover my deepest, darkest secrets.

His eyes are like the deep blue sea, and dark shadows envelop them like the reflection of a hidden forest.

His long dark eyelashes, his raven hair that was neatly styled to the back, his pointy nose that almost looked like that of a female, his seductive lips, and his sharp jawline all contributed to his overall attractiveness.

He was so stunningly attractive that it made my private parts feel as if they were going to burst into flames.

I could almost taste the sweetness of my name on his tongue. I wished I could take a drink from him.

He then made his way to the staircase, which was located in an area that overlooked the living room, and anxiously turned to Macy after reaching the top of the stairs.

His eyebrows furrowed as he looked suspiciously at us.

"Did I offend your father in some way?" I whispered to Macy and let out a stiff chuckle.

"Do not be upset if he treats you coldly, as he learned some time ago that his friend's daughter is dating her childhood friend. I believe it caused him a trauma from which he will not recover soon." Macy said with a shrug.

I was on the verge of losing control and laughing out loud. "Even if he has reason to suspect me, he should follow your inclinations. Daddy doesn't know about your romantic adventures, does he?" I hissed menacingly.

"Do not you dare!" She warned.

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes.

We went back into the kitchen to get the remaining utensils, and as soon as we returned to the living room, Macy noticed that her brother was about to grab one of the Raps and ruin our arrangement.

"You crafty fox, put that right where it is!" The large hallway was filled with my screams, and he froze.

I gave chase to him and leaped to put my arm around his shoulder as we came face to face.

He inherited his father's height and was a handsome young man with dark brown hair and eyes.

Luke was the only male friend I had because of Macy. He is enrolled in the same program as her at my university so that he and his sister can one day take over their father's firm.

He has a history of bullying others but never failed to offer me his protection.

"Why don't you act like a young man who comes from a distinguished family when you're home?"

"Velan! I was completely unaware you were going to show up today!" Luke frowned. "Why on earth didn't anyone tell me?"

My stature was so much smaller in comparison to his.

"A pleasant surprise, isn't it?" Macy, who was two years younger than him, had been standing by the doorway the entire time. She moved closer to us while grinning devilishly at him.

"Your account with me is hard to settle." The boy's ears turned red and he growled furiously.

His gaze returned to me and his brows suddenly furrowed in what looked like shock. "What happened to your face?"

Oh shit, I forgot about that. He saw my bruised face since we were standing so close.

How am I going to get out of this now?
