Chapter 3 You Are My Maid From Now On

Leila's POV

"How long have you been here?" I asked Mia. We were both cleaning the living room together.

She stopped what she was doing and looked at me. "I've been here all my life," she said, smiling.

"My mother was pregnant with me when she was bought by the Anderson family." She paused for a while, and her always cheerful expression changed to a bitter one before she spoke again. "She got sick and died when I was ten. So I was automatically raised to be a maid here."

I was still looking at her with pity and I couldn't utter a word.

"Why are you making that face? You look ridiculous." She teased.

We both burst into laughter.

"What about you? How did you end up with Mr. Anderson?" She asked

"Well, I live alone with my brother in Devon. We lost both our parents some years ago."

"It must have been devastating for you," She said, her tone filled with pity.

"Yeah," I replied, keeping my emotions in check. "I was abducted three weeks ago and brought back to London, and ended up getting sold to Mr. Anderson at an auction house."

"What about your brother? Is there anyone to take care of him?" She asked.

"No, there's no one," I responded.

"He's currently at the hospital, he was diagnosed with leukemia when he was four. His medical bills piled up and kept increasing every month, as I couldn't raise enough money to pay them."

"So what's going to happen to him now?" She asked, her voice laced with concern.

"Hey, Mia." A deep voice called out from behind. We both turned to see a tall, muscular man, smiling and walking towards us.

"Hi, Mr. Luca." Mia waved, smiling, and was so excited to see him.

My eyes remained fixed on him as he continued walking. He had a sunshine smile that brightened up the room, complimenting his well-sculpted face that looked like a perfect work of art, with fair skin, blond hair, and piercing green eyes.

Mia suddenly hit me with her elbow, bringing me out of my daze. I realized that the handsome stranger's hand was stretched towards me for a handshake.

Feeling embarrassed, I stretched my hand out to shake his hand, with my head down.

He chuckled. "I'm Luca."

"I'm Leila," I replied and withdrew my hands from his.

"Leila," he repeated. "What a lovely name."

"Thank you," I said, still avoiding his eyes.

After exchanging pleasantries with us, he left to see Dominic after confirming his location with Mia.

"Who was that?" I asked; immediately he disappeared from our sight.

"That's Mr. Luca Anderson." She replied with dreamy eyes. "He's so handsome, isn't he?"

"Uhm, yeah, I guess," I said with a shrugged shoulders.

We stopped talking and continued cleaning. I saw Mr. Anderson walking down the stairs, with Mr. Luca behind him. They looked so different from each other.

Mr. Anderson had slick black hair that reached his eyelashes, making it impossible to see his eyes; he also had a cold expression with an unfriendly and dominating aura. Mr. Luca, on the other hand, had nicely cut blonde hair, piercing blue eyes, and a gentle, easygoing demeanor with a captivating smile that would make every girl's heart beat fast. He is also a few inches shorter than Dominic.

Mr. Anderson was talking to one of the older maids at the bottom of the stairs when he pointed at me.

"Leila Flynn," Mr. Anderson called out, making me jump and stop what I was doing.

He walked toward me. "You are my maid from now on; you will attend only to my needs and are not to get involved in any other chores. Do you understand?"

"Yes, sir," I replied. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Luca smiling at me the whole time. I tried to stop myself from blushing, knowing it would easily show on my fair skin.

"Go get changed and meet me in the car," Mr. Anderson said. I looked at him, confused. "You have ten minutes," he added, glancing at his wristwatch.

I rushed off quickly, hearing Luca chuckle behind me. I reached my room and changed as fast as I could, not wanting to anger the mafia lord- he's already scary enough as it is.

We drove through the streets of London in silence, with Luca driving off separately in his car.

"Where are we going?" I summoned the courage to ask.

He ignored my question and didn't say a word till he stopped the car in front of a giant hospital.

"Let's go," he said, loosening his seat belt and alighted from the car.

I imitated his action and followed him as he walked into the hospital.

We got into the elevator and headed for the 30th floor.

I had told him the day before that I wanted to see my brother at the hospital, but my brother was in Devon, not in London.

'Who is he going to see, and why did he bring me along? Is that my job as his maid?" I thought silently.

The elevator door opened and I followed behind him as we walked out. He was greeted by all the doctors and nurses we came across.

"Take her to him," he instructed one of the nurses at the counter.

The nurse signaled to me to follow her, and I was confused as I watched Dominic take his seat a few feet from the counter.

I followed the nurse, and she took me to the room which I assumed to be a VIP section because it was spacious and well-furnished.

As I walked further into the room, I saw my brother being fed by a nurse.

His face lit up when he saw me. "Leila!" he exclaimed with excitement.

I ran to him and pulled him into a tight hug. "Michael, what are you doing here?" I asked, a tear rolling down my cheek.

"Mr. Luca brought me here," he said, smiling. "He said we were coming to see you."

I was stunned. How did Luca know about my brother? Did Dominic tell him after our conversation yesterday? I didn't even mention which hospital my brother was in. So, how did he find him? And why did he bring him here? A flurry of questions raced through my mind.

I decided to ask the nurse how my brother ended up here.

"Mr. Anderson requested his transfer to our hospital from Devon," she explained. "He cleared all his outstanding medical bills, and your brother was brought here yesterday. I've been assigned to take care of him throughout his stay."

I stared at her in shock. Why is Dominic doing this? He paid a fortune for me, and now he's taking care of my brother, just so I can be his maid? I wondered.

"He also paid our hospital a large sum of money to find a donor and get him treated quickly," she added.

My jaw dropped. 'That's it. I need to ask him why he's doing all this and what he wants from me. He can't possibly be doing this out of the goodness of his heart. He is Dominic Anderson, the ruthless mafia lord of London. He probably has a motive.' I thought out loud as I made my way out of the room to confront Dominic.

"Why are you doing all this?" I managed to keep my voice low so as not to attract attention.

He stood up with both hands in his pocket. "I believe what you meant to say was a 'Thank you'," He said with his blue eyes staring deep into mine as I lifted my chin to meet his eyes. "And you're welcome." He walked towards the elevator, leaving me with my unanswered questions.
