Chapter 4 Induction

NINA'S POV

I scanned through the documents, making sure I didn't miss even the slightest information. Every information in this document was a weapon to me; one I would use to bring Leo down!

As I reached the end of the document, I went back to the first page and began reading through it carefully again.

"Alexander's real estate company…."I muttered the name of Leo's viral company, the corners of my lips curving into a satisfied smirk.

I knew it was a bit impossible to remember every single detail by heart so I immediately brought out my phone and took some pictures of the parts of the documents I felt were the most important.

After I was done, I carefully put the document back into the file and kept it where I had found it earlier to avoid Leo suspecting that I had gone through the document.

I then slid my phone back into my pocket and continued packing my belongings and after about an hour, I was finally done with everything.

With a heavy heart, I rolled my boxes behind me and walked slowly out of the mansion. With each step I took, my heart shattered into a million pieces. I was leaving Leo's house for good. Not in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that to happen or prepare myself emotionally and mentally for such a nasty experience.

A part of me could hardly believe this was happening while a part believed. As I approached the door, I stopped in my tracks and took a deep breath.

My eyes became wet with tears which threatened to drop down my cheeks. Stepping out of this house meant one thing; I was going for good, never to come back again.

I pursed my lips tightly and closed my eyes, trying to fight back the tears that were threatening to fall. I pulled in some air into my lungs as I bit down on my lower lips, I could feel my lips and body begin to quaver. I knew I could not fight back the tears and without realizing it, endless streams of tears fell down my cheeks.

"Leo why?!"I cried as I clutched onto the handle of my boxes tightly and looked up, trying to stop the tears from Falling down my eyes but it was impossible. "Why…why!"I cried again, this time loudly "why is my life so messed up I just a matter of hours?!"a part of me didn't want to go while a part wanted to. My emotions were so messed up at this point.

I cried to my heart's content and after some minutes, I finally stopped and dried my face with the back of my palm. I took in a deep breath, strengthening my resolve to leave Leo's place but I still couldn't bring myself to step out of the door.

I clutched the handle of my boxes tightly and gritted my teeth. Taking a deep breath, I raised my legs and finally stepped out of the door.

I kept walking without looking back as endless streams of tears fell down my cheeks. As I got outside the gate, I paused and got a grip of myself.

This was it, I had finally walked out of Leo's life for good.

I turned and stared at Leo's mansion and muttered inaudibly. "Good bye, Leo…see you never"

I then shifted my attention back to the busy road, I had no idea where I was heading to. I could not go back to my father's house knowing that May and my step mother were still there, and I had nowhere else. As much as Nora was my best friend, I still could not bother her with my own problems knowing fully well she has hers to take care of.

This meant that I was all alone.

Right there, I made some calls and was able to secure myself an apartment. I then boarded a taxi which drove me straight to my new apartment.

My new life without Leo had begun. This time around, I was going to make him pay for toying with my life and emotions in that manner!

As I settled in my apartment, I came across my certificate. I had graduated from a renowned art university and it was no doubt my portfolio was beautiful. Without giving it a second thought, I called a prestigious jewelry design company, one touch company.

After some hours of processing my job application, I finally got a notification email almost immediately saying that I had been given a job due to my impressive portfolio. I was to begin work immediately tomorrow.

I was over the moon seeing that my job application had been accepted in just a matter of hours!

I could hardly wait for tomorrow and got literally little to no sleep due to excitement.

Once I heard the ferocious blaring of my alarm the next morning, I immediately got out of bed and prepared myself for the day in a flash.

After I was done with everything, I stared at my reflection in the mirror. There was no doubt I looked so breathtaking and cooperative.

With a high spirit, I grabbed my bag and walked out of the apartment, taking the nearest taxi to One touch company.

After some minutes, we arrived at the company and almost immediately, I got down from the taxi, settled him and began walking towards the company.

Just as I stepped inside the company, a feminine voice rang behind me.

"Nina!"I heard someone call behind me and spun my heels to see a beautiful lady walking towards me.

"Hello"the woman smiled as she approached me, extending her hand for a hand shake. "I'm Olive, your recruiter, I've been anticipating your arrival"she flashed me a warm smile.

I returned her gesture and shook her head. "Nina Crabtre"

"I saw your portfolio and trust me, I was very pleased to know you would be working in this prestigious company. Our company seeks individuals like you, Nina.."the woman, Olive, said. From my observation, I could tell she was jovial. "Your portfolio was outstanding, if not the best that I have ever seen!"

"Thank you"I smiled.

"If you don't mind, I would show you around the company while discussing your roles in the company"Olive offered.

"I don't, please do"I replied.

"Alright then!"Olive giggled as she clutched the file she was holding to her chest, spun her heels and began walking into the company. "Follow me!"

I smiled and walked beside her while she showed me some parts of the company.

We then entered the elevator and got to the upper part of the company. Just as we passed an office, something caught my eyes. The door was open so I could what's inside.

"Hold on.."I said to olive as she too stopped in her tracks. "Whose office is this?"

"Oh this…"she pointed. "This is the chief designer's office"

"chief designer…"I muttered as I stepped into the office. The image on the wall was oddly familiar. And true to my words, I recognized who that was, May!

"Is she the chief designer?"I asked as I pointed at May's picture with disbelief. How could she be the chief designer?! What the hell does she know about jewelry designing?!

"Yes she is,"Olive replied in her usual cheerful tone. "We don't have all the time in our hands, could we please continue?"

"Of course…"I replied as I walked out of the office, I still couldn't process the information of May being the chief designer of this company! I was definitely more advanced than her in the jewelry business, how then did she get to such a high position with her plot skills?! I knew for a fact that she must have done something to get to such a position.

After about an hour and thirty minutes, it was finally lunchtime. After I grabbed my food, Olive invited me over to sit with them.

"Did you hear?"A brunette lady spoke up. "Our company is about to land a huge collaboration deal!"

"Yeah…I did,"another lady replied.

For some reason, they all sounded excited.

"If it is a success, that means we would work hand in hand with Alexander's company!"Another chipped in.

"Alexander's company?"I repeated, furrowing my brows. Wasn't that the same company in the document?! That was Leo's rival company!

In the country, there were three jewelry designing companies that were above others, first, Alexander's real estate company, Leo's company and then Onetouch company.

If Onetouch company was to collaborate with Alexander's company, it was going to be to my favor. But, coming to think of it, I couldn't do this alone.

I needed to work with someone with an upper hand in order to get my revenge on Leo and May!

By working with someone, I meant someone as high as Alexander himself. Although I didn't know him personally, I was going to investigate him thoroughly and use it to my advantage!
