CHAPTER 2 &CHAPTER 3

Daisy's POV

"I declare you, Alaric Blackwood, as the new Alpha of the Blackwood Pack."

Delilah and I watched from the sidelines as Alaric was crowned Alpha. A wave of excitement consumed me, my heart pounding in anticipation of Alaric's announcement about us.

I couldn't wait to see the look on everyone's faces when he declared me as his mate and Luna. The plain boring Daisy they had all treated with spite would soon become the Luna of the pack.

"I would like to give a speech," Alaric announced as he stepped forward.

"Being crowned the Alpha comes with many great responsibilities. It's not just about leading the pack but standing as a shield and protector..."

"But to achieve this feat, one cannot do it alone; he needs the support of someone he can rely on when his shoulders become heavy. That is why I have decided to use this occasion to present my Luna to you all on such a momentous day," Alaric continued.

My heart raced as Alaric spoke, excitement coursing through my entire body. I turned to look at Delilah, who was standing next to me. Our gazes met, and she gave me a cold stare.

"With you all as my witnesses, I present to you my Luna, Delilah Fairchild."

Wait! What? Delilah, not Daisy? What's going on here? Is this some kind of mistake?

"Maybe it was a mistake. It has to be a mistake," I murmured to no one in particular as I stood frozen, watching my world crumble before my eyes.

Alaric avoided my gaze as I turned to look at him, seeking confirmation if what I heard was indeed true.

He then walked to the end of the stage where Delilah and I stood, reaching out to take Delilah's hands and help her onto the stage.

"I told you not to try too hard, sis. He has always been mine. Do you get it now?" Delilah whispered to me before she ascended the stage.

Something felt off. There was no way Alaric would betray me. He loves me, doesn't he? He wouldn't hurt me, right?

"I present to you all, Delilah Fairchild, the one whom my heart has chosen to be my Luna," Alaric announced, holding onto Delilah's hands. She stood beside him, her face lit with a smile. Not a trace of surprise showed on her face; it was almost as if she had known he would choose her.

"How could you do this to me!" I blurted out, the words escaping before I could stop them.

All eyes suddenly turned to me as I approached the stage, tears streaming down my face.

"How did it come to this? It has always been me, Alaric. What happened to the promises we made, to be together forever?" I continued.

"You must be mistaken, Daisy. I do not know what you are talking about. I never had anything to do with you," Alaric responded, his tone flat and dismissive.

"I am your mate, Alaric! We are destined to be together," I protested, barely noticing the murmurs from the crowd.

"Yes, and I have rejected you countless times. Are you that obsessed with me?" Alaric retorted, his expression cold and convincing.

"But since you are so adamant, I might as well make it public. I hereby reject you as my mate, Daisy Fairchild."

The pain of rejection overwhelmed me, nearly too intense to stand upright.

"Tell me this is all a joke. You promised to make me your Luna..." I whimpered.

The guests gasped as they stared at Alaric and me in shock. Their faces showed a mix of spite and disgust.

"You must be delusional to think something could happen between us. I have just been crowned Alpha, and I need someone strong as my Luna. Why would I settle for someone weak like you?"

"I will let this slide because I cherish and adore your sister, and I would be glad if this incident were not repeated," Alaric replied boldly.

"I apologize for the misunderstanding. My sister tends to be mistaken when overwhelmed. Please, enjoy the rest of the party while we handle this situation privately," Delilah said, addressing the guests with a smile.

"Come with me," Delilah dragged me into the room.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?" she asked with a look of disgust on her face.

"What do you mean... I am not lying... He-"

"He what? Force himself on you?" Delilah cut in as she folded her hand over her chest.

"No, but we had something," I replied looking more confused than ever.

"We had nothing, Daisy," I heard his voice from behind, the person who I had loved more than anything.

"Would you excuse us for a minute darling?" Alaric asked turning to Delilah, she nodded with a smile before making her way out of the room.

"What do you think you are doing, telling everyone that we had something," He began his voice louder than usual.

"Those nights together, the stolen kisses, the promises, does all of it mean nothing to you?" I asked unable to control the tears rolling down my eyes.

"This was the reason why I picked Delilah over you, you are too weak for my liking," he replied immediately as though he was waiting all his life to tell me that.

Weak? Is that why he picked her? I might not be as strong as Delilah but I don't see myself as weak. Or am I truly weak?

"You picked her because I was weak not because you don't love me?" I asked, hoping that would be the case. Just maybe I might be able to convince him to take me back.

"I can be strong for you Alaric," I said as I moved closer to him.

"If that's what you want...I am willing to learn...please don't do this to me."

I mean how hard can it be, it took Delilah a few weeks of training to master the act of sword fight. I know I sound desperate right now but I can't help it, I am madly in love with this man.

"You can stay," were the words that left his mouth, but I didn't understand what he meant by that.

"You can remain in the Blackwood Pack not as my wife, but as my mistress. I am sure your sister won't mind."

Chapter 3

Daisy's POV

It wasn't just what Alaric said that made my blood boil but how he said it, it was clear that he sees us as nothing less than some object he could play with and toss around when he gets tired.

I can't believe I trusted this man, after everything he promised me, what on earth even made me think he would marry me and make me his Luna?

"You are sick, you are a sick man, and I regret ever giving you my body!" I said, anger boiling in my voice so intensely that the love I felt for him seemed to vanish in that instant.

"You don't deserve me or my sister-"

"Stop acting all righteous, Daisy. We both know you don't give a damn about your sister!" Alaric cut in sarcastically.

"That's not true-"

"Stop lying to yourself. You wouldn't mind throwing her under the bus just to have me."

The painful truth was that he wasn't wrong. I loved this man so much that I would choose him over my sister. I guess this is my karma.

I can't take this... There's nothing left for me here. My dream of becoming Alaric's Luna has just crashed, and there's no point in staying.

"Maybe you're right, but that was before I knew the real you. In time, my sister will see that too," I replied as I attempted to walk past him, but he grabbed my hand from behind.

"Where do you think you're going?" Alaric whispered under his breath.

"Anywhere but here."

"And what makes you think I would let you leave?" he replied seriously.

I turned to face him, looking confused. He didn't want me as his Luna, yet he didn't want me to leave.

"You don't have any right over me, Alaric. You can't stop me from leaving."

"That's where you're wrong, Daisy. I am the Alpha of this pack, and everyone will do as I say, including you," he replied, his smile dubious.

His grip on my hand tightened.

"Let me go," I said, struggling to break free.

"Please let me go," I begged after failing to free myself.

"Stop trying so hard, Daisy," Alaric said as he signaled to the guards at the door.

"Take her to the guest room and keep her locked in until I return."

"What do you think you are doing? Let me go!" I cried out loudly as I was dragged from the room. "What do you want from me?"

"I have a party to attend, Daisy. We'll talk about this later when you're calm," he replied.

I was still trying to break free when one of the guards hoisted me over his shoulder. At that moment, I felt utterly powerless and couldn't do anything to save myself. Perhaps Alaric was right when he called me weak; Delilah would have fought back and broken free.

A few minutes later, the guard stopped in front of a room. He opened the door, tossed me onto the bed, and left before I could regain my bearings. I heard the lock click and his footsteps fade away. I jolted from the bed to the door, pleading for it to be opened, but there was no response.

"What have I done to deserve this? How could Alaric treat me this way?" I cried out, running my hands through my hair.

I sat by the door, crying and cursing myself for being so weak.

The sound of a knock jolted me from my slumber. I hadn't realized I had fallen asleep. I stood up immediately as the door swung open and a lady walked in.

"Good day my lady, My name is Amaya and I am your handmaiden," She said with a smile on her face as she bowed down In courtesy.

This must be a joke, assigning me a handmaiden after locking me up in this room against my will.

I raised my head to look at her without saying a word.

I turned my head to the other side of the room and I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I couldn't recognize who I saw, I had cried my eyes out which resulted in my mascara smearing all over my face.

"Can I help you with anything my lady?" Amaya asked waiting for me to respond.

But I ignored her, after standing there for what felt like an eternity she proceeded to fold some clothes which were placed in the basket beside the wardrobe.

The door sprung open again which made Amaya halt everything she was doing and leave the room in a hurry.

I turned my head out of curiosity to see who it was, and of course, it was the devil himself,

"How dare you lock me up here after rejecting and humiliating me," I yelled as I stood up with rage.

"You betrayed me and proclaimed my sister as Luna and still have me locked up after all the promises you have made to me" I continued.

"Watch your mouth Daisy and don't you ever speak to me in such a manner ever again, have I made myself clear," Alaric said cupping my face into his hands in a way that hurt.

"Get your hands off me," I shot back at him, breaking free from his grip

"Why are you keeping me here, when you don't want anything to do with me? you have made your decision by having Delilah as your Luna, why not let me go" I said as tears welled up in my eyes.

"Just because I picked Delilah doesn't mean I am letting you go, why have one when I can have you both," Alaric said with a smirk on his face before making his way out of the room.

"Please let me go!" I pleaded as I fell to the floor crying, how did everything turn around in the blink of an eye?

Did he ever love me? Or has he been playing with me all along? Am I nothing more than a toy to him?
