CHAPTER 5 A Mysterious Name For A Mysterious Man
Daisy's POV
"Who are you?" I flinched in fear as I suddenly came back to my senses.
"Calm down, I have no intentions of hurting you, I only want to tend to your wounds," He assured.
"My wounds?" I said looking a bit confused as I scanned every part of my body with my eyes and came to the realization that I had sustained injuries from my fall.
"How did I end up here?" I asked curiously.
"I happened to be in the woods last night, I saw you lying unconscious," he responded.
With his gaze fixated on mine, he moved closer and, reached for my hand "Don't touch me!" I trembled in fear.
"You have to trust me, I would not harm you, I have to get your wounds treated before they get infected," He replied softly.
"What happened to the beast that attacked me? How did you manage to scare it away or did you kill it?" I questioned.
"You have to relax and get treated first, you need not worry about the beast," He stated plainly.
From the way he answers my questions, I can tell he doesn't like to talk too much.
Still unsure of how I feel about this mysterious man who had saved my life, I knew I should be grateful that he was even in the bush last night but something about him still had me at the top of my toes.
"Get some rest," He said standing up as he set to leave the room.
"Where are you going to? Are you leaving me alone in this room?" I asked looking around the room.
"Don't worry it's not hunted, You need to get some rest..." he paused and looked at me.
"Daisy, my name is Daisy."
"Daisy, I need to attend to some things, press that bell if you need anything and I will be right here," With that, he made his way out of the room.
He didn't even tell me his name!
With my eyes darting around the room, a mix of emotions washed over me, and my mind trailed back to the incident that happened in the Blackwood Pack.
I guess Alaric would be looking for me now, or would he even mind?
I let out a soft cry as I struggled to get up to my feet, the pain from the injuries I sustained heightened with each step I took but I still managed to get myself to the bathroom.
Standing before the mirror, I couldn't bear to look at myself as I never thought a day would come when I would look so pitiful.
I sniffed the air in while holding back the tears which have gathered in my eyes, I could still feel the pain of being betrayed by the two people I loved most in the world.
I finished from the bathroom and stepped out, I placed my hands on the wall using it for support as I made my way back to the bed.
Suddenly the door was flung open and the man who had saved my life walked inside.
"You didn't tell me your name" were the first words that left my mouth.
"Does it matter..."
"Yes, it does!"
"Fine... My name is Draco."
Draco! A mysterious name for a mysterious man.
"How are you feeling now, I hope you feel much better?" He asked.
"Yes, thank you for saving me," I thanked him genuinely. I don't trust him but I can't deny the fact that he saved my life.
"Dinner is ready and I was thinking you would like to join me," He inquired.
"That's nice of you," I replied with the most pretentious smile I could muster, only a fool would trust a stranger.
I stood up from the bed and followed him, limping on one of my legs.
His steps came to a pause and he turned back to check if I was all right. "Don't you speak?" I asked looking at him with frustration.
"Can't you hear or are you pretending not to understand?" I scoffed.
Silence! Silence is all I get in return, who does he think he is, ignoring me like this?
"What is this place, and why are there so many rooms."
"So many questions from someone who is walking on one foot, curiosity sure kills the cat."
I would be lying if I said those words didn't send a chill down my spine.
"You just survived being eaten by a beast please save your strength," He smiled but it wasn't convincing enough.
"Oh he smiles, at least there is something he knows how to do, that's a relief," I continued.
The air around the house was eerie as we walked to the dining area, the walls of the house were old with cracks in between, giving me goosebumps as though I was in a haunted house.
We got to the dining and my eyes fell on the large table and chairs placed at the center of the room, with big chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.
"Where is everyone?" I looked at him curiously because the room was empty.
"Everyone? Did you bring your family along?" he replied sarcastically.
"I live here alone," He responded when he noticed I wasn't having it.
I limped forward, holding the chair for support as I took my seat at the table. "Don't you have a family, a wife, children or siblings, or just anyone, it's ridiculous how you would live here alone," I shook my head in disbelief.
"I live alone, that is all there is to know. Now let's eat, if you don't mind," Draco replied before proceeding with his dinner.
"What's the point of saving me and bringing me here if you were going to ignore me, it would have been better if you had left me there," I muffled under my breath.
"Now that we are talking about it, I think you are right, one night here and you are already a pain in the ass," Draco replied angrily as he stood up and left.
My mouth parted in shock as I watched him leave, what just happened? Did I say anything wrong?
