CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Leilani POV

Ella walked closer to her and took her hand, in hers her voice pleading.

“I don’t care what those people said, neither does mom,we love you" Ella finally spoke, her tone protective and laced with frustration.

“They don’t know anything about you. They don’t know your story, and they don’t deserve to judge you.”

But did that really matter in the long run, what she felt about herself was not important to other people, they only cared about what they thought, and how they felt.

How juicy the gossip was or how fast it would spread was all that mattered to them.

Leilani exhaled, her throat tight with the effort of holding back tears. She bit her lip, feeling the tears prickling at the corners of her eyes. She hadn’t meant to cry. She didn't want to show Ella how fragile she actually was .

But the truth was, her sister’s words were hitting too close to home.

Maybe Ella was right. Maybe she had been running for far too long that she had actually become a coward

“I don’t know what to do,” Leilani admitted, her voice barely a whisper.

“Seeing him again… it’s stirred up so many things that I thought I could handle it, but I can’t.”

“No, you’re right,” Ella replied, her voice softening slightly.

“Maybe I don’t fully understand. But what I do understand is that you’re scared. And it’s okay to be scared, but you can’t let that fear control your life. You have two children to think about. They need stability, not a mother who runs every time things get hard.”

The last part hit Leilani like a punch to the gut, but she wasn't sure what to do so she just mumbled

“I’m not running from them. I’m trying to protect them.”

“And I ask again from what?” Ella cried her voice filled with frustration.

“From your past–a man who still clearly has a hold on your heart? From people who don’t even know the real you? Leilani, at some point, you have to stop hiding. You have to face what’s in front of you.”

Leilani swallowed hard, her throat tight

" What if I don't know how" she asked collapsing into her chair Ella moved closer, falling to her knees and placing a gentle hand on her arm.

“You don’t have to handle everything alone, you know. I’m here for you, Leilani. You’ve been through so much, and you’re stronger than you think. "

“You can still fight, Lani. It’s not too late. "Ella whispered

" But running away is easier"

"Running away isn’t going to solve anything. Eventually, you’re going to have to deal with this. With him. And with everything that comes with it.”

" He's a Winchester, is there really any country you go to that he can't find you"

" What happened with Gustin, it’s over now. It doesn't matter what he wants because he left you, he chose that woman over you" she mumbled

Leilani wiped at her eyes, looking up to face her sister.

“But it’s not just about me anymore. It’s about the kids. They don’t even know who their father is. And I have no idea how Gustin is going to react. If he takes them away from me"

" Why would he be doing that" her mother's voice echoed through the room and she froze both she and Ella looking to the door.

Her mother was pale, her eyes red rimmed and behind her was our father

" What's this all about taking the twins " her father asked and she shrunk into herself

Ella’s expression softened, as she rose to her feet. “Dad it's nothing "

" Why would Gustin be trying to take the kids away, he should be looking for ways to reconcile with you" her father asked

" Leilani left him, though he would be angry " she replied.

All the rage she had ever felt in her life came rushing back up to the surface.

" Mom" Ella cried and Leilani laughed

" Why are you shouting at her, she's never taken my side before I don't expect it to start now," Leilani rose from the chair, she had expected too much from her mother once so she tried not to expect much from her anymore. Especially when it meant that she would get disappointed over and over again.

Cara Jordan didn't do anything that would not benefit her.

" Can you all leave I want to go to bed" she muttered and her father sighed

" Sweetie, "

" I'm fine dad please"

" Don't beg her, you'll only encourage her, she's spoilt because we let her be" her mother huffed and she scoffed pausing in pulling the covers off

" Spoiled. Me. I married a man I didn't really know well enough just so we could help daddy's business and I'm the spoiled one " she cried and her mother paled

" I found out I was pregnant and all you could worry about was the extra mouths to feed, as if I was an invalid. As if our business was not booming" she cried out in distress

" Lani" Ella said softly grabbing her hand

" As if I weren't the one who brought in the money that you used to promote it. Like I didn't sell myself to the highest bidder –" she cried her voice cracking

" You liked Gustin, " she mumbled and Leilani stormed over to her

" I said I liked him, but you're my mother, you should have noticed how I got sad over the years. You should have asked me why I left at least once in the last four years but I guess the money was too good to pass up" she cried out, a hand fell on her face the sound of skin sounding in the quiet bedroom.

" Mom" Ella cried

" Cara " her father called out pulling her back, while she cupped her palms in one another

" I'm sorry– I"

" Don't bother" she hissed

" Get out" she muttered

" Mom say you're sorry" Ella urged, but her mom was silent and she almost laughed, she grabbed her bag off the table

" If you won't leave I will" she muttered
