CHAPTER TWO

Leilani placed her hand on the doorknob and opened the door to see Gustin's mother. Immediately she moved away from the door, opening it widely.

"Good afternoon, mother," Leilani greeted. His mother just nodded curtly at her with a scowl on her face.

Leilani watched as Mary entered the house, Leilani slowly shut the door behind, wondering what brought her over in the afternoon.

"Get me a glass of water" Leila nodded, as she hurriedly went to the kitchen to get a temperature room water. She placed the glass cup of water on a tray before heading back to the living room.

Leilani knelt to serve her, and as soon Mary took the water from her and gulped a little, she threw the water on Leilani's face.

"Too warm, what can you do, Leilani?. Are you so dense that you couldn't ask me if I want cold water or a temperature room water. Did you not receive home training? Your only usefulness in this house is to spend my son's money lavishly, a child, you failed to bear him one so what's your usefulness in this house, your importance!"

Leilani shut her eyes tightly, grasping her skirt as she hurled insults on her. Anytime Mary mentioned her parents, Leila would tighten her fist.

She just wishes she could let her know that she's just in a contract marriage with her son, no intimacy and no love but she doesn't want to cause unnecessary drama and even if she wants to cause drama, it wouldn't be with her.

"Tell my son I was here," Mary stood up. Leilani shifted away from her. She felt a sting from her harsh words. She knew his mother never liked her in fact his family never liked her from the beginning apart from his little sister, and father.

Mary believed her son deserves someone better than Leilani, someone on the same level with him in terms of family background.

As Mary turned to leave, Leilani hastily stood up, following her to the door. As she left, Leilani slowly shut the door.

She glanced at her wet shirt, and removed the wet string of hair on her face, sighing loudly.

Leilani doesn't know why his mother hates her and she doesn't care to know anymore since she will be leaving her son next year. She doesn't need any drama in her.

She went upstairs to her room and changed her dress to a long denim skirt, with a long sleeve fitted black top,off shoulder.

She dried her wet hair with a dryer and packed the hair in a messy bun. She picked a scarf and tied it around her neck before going downstairs back.

As she headed to the kitchen, she couldn't shake off the feeling of Mary's visit. Why was she here? She didn't say anything important other than hurl insults at her or was she bored? Why did she always look at her with such contempt?

Leilani pushed those thoughts aside, and zipped his lunch box. She would not let her visit ruin her mood today but as she cleaned the kitchen, she couldn't help but think it over.

She grabs the lunch box and leaves the house, flagging down a taxi to take her to his company. As she stepped her foot inside the companies, the security guards welcomed her warmly, and the employees at the lobby welcomed her warmly. They all know that she's Gustin's wife, so there's that respect they all give her. She smiled at their greetings, nodding friendly at them.

As she entered the elevator, she suddenly felt uncomfortable, a change in the atmosphere. She glanced through the glassy elevator to see three women at her back, whispering to themselves. Leila heard their hushed conversation and her heart skipped a beat at the words she heard, her blood running cold.

"Did you hear the news, there's a woman in Mr Gustin office, and Dita said she's very sure that the woman is not Mr Gustin wife"

The elevator dinged, the elevator door. Immediately Leilani hid her face facing the other side of the elevator, pretending to be on a phone call as the women exited the elevator.

Who's the woman that's in Gustin's office that's making his employees talk about in a whisper tone.

The elevator door opened, and Leilani stepped out. Her heartbeat increased as she approached Gustin's office.

Unsure and scared of what she's going to see in his office. She sighs effortlessly, calming her nerves down.

She approached the secretary desk to see Dita who sprang immediately when their eyes met.

"Good day Ma," Leilani smiled at her. She could see the nervousness in Dita's face.

She was about to enter Gustin office when Dita stopped her, "Wa-Wai-Wait ma"

"Anything Dita?" Leila asked, hiding the fear in her voice.

"Mr Gustin, he's-he is-" Leilani did not wait for her to finish her statement before she barged into his office.

She saw him in a compromising state with a woman she knew so well, his ex, Bellamy.

The lunchbox in Leilani hands dropped, attracting their attention. Her heart felt as if she had been punched in the face, frozen and finding it hard to process the situation.

She could see the love in Gustin's eyes and realized the woman he had loved all this while was his ex Bellamy, and now that she's back, she should leave.

She was just a void to fill the absence of his lover. Bellamy wore a smile flashing it at Leilani but Leila's eyes were on Gustin, tears at the brink of falling.

He seems very much in love with his ex seeing the way he did not push her away from his thigh.

"I'm sorry for barging in without knocking. My apologies," Leila said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Lei-Leilani," He called out. Leila cleaned her eyes, stopping the tears from dropping as she turned around and rushed out of his office. As soon as she was out, she let those tears out.

"Now his lover is back, I should leave before he brings it up," She said, to herself.
