Chapter 6: Evander and the crew

Narrator's POV

"Give me the girl mate..." The first orders and Evander scoffs.

"I'd keep her with me" he muses walking into the ship. He found six more men, dressed in rags and wearing helmets.

They had an indifferent look at him. One of them raised his arm at Evander and an icy ring appeared on it.

It was as though he intended to shoot him. However, the first man gestures to him to keep it down.

Hastily, he took the girl in his arms and placed in Hindenburg which is contained within the hull of the airship.

He tied her mildly as his eyes gazed at her. He couldn't tell why he felt concerned and intrigued to learn about why they needed her.

He was tensed, curious but then, his part was played. Delivering her safely and they'd never meet again.

Evander was given 48 hours to deliver her and 24 hours were gone. He was given her location, stalking her down to the bar, he'd find it as an easy task.

Not until he set his eyes on her, for the first time, he felt mousey under her affectionate gaze.

It was trust which he had broken with three hours.

His eyes settled on her lips, when he had taste them. He inserted her hair beside her eyes, her head lowered when she suddenly spur those eyes open.

The way she flinches at the sight of him, her heart race. He sensed it, fear. At first he reaction reads bewilderment.

Her eyes scrolled around until she met the bonds on her arms which she tried to wretch out of.

"Who...are...you...? What am I doing here..." She manages to squeeze out of her lips while struggling hard to loosen the hold.

He didn't want her to hurt herself but why should he care? Of course, she was petrified

"Fuck! Someone! Help me!! Argh!!!" She screeches on the top of her lungs.

"Shush!" He muses pissed off by her pathetic wails. It wasn't as though anyone would come rescue her.

From the looks of it, she was stucked with him.

Evander covered her mouth as they looked intensively at each other as though she was trying to recall something.

Then he threw his gaze away from her as she had a way of making his heart flutter.

He'd prefer not to be distracted from the real deal. Her body tried to move as tears were suddenly streaming from her eyes.

She muffles in his palm and he felt her tongue on that salty palm of his.

"Please...let...me...go, if it's money you want...I can make an arrangement"

He ignored her plead trying to fish out something to knock her out.

Quickly, his hand reach for a bag beside her leg as she uses all her strength to judder the chair.

He took out an injection and she farrows her brows at him, jumpy and awe-striken.

He'd be doing it again, to make her go unconscious.

Her being awake would distract the crew and they barely know what she was capable of.

"Just consider this a trip" he snapped as she widens her gaze at him and not wanting her to scream, he quickly gave her the shot of anesthesia.

Her eyes were drowsy as her breath was slowly. He could tell she fight so hard to say a word because the slumber came to consume her.

Her head fell lazily on his chest and she was warm. He heaved a sigh and placed her head to lay on the chair.

His eyes took a glimpse of her as he stood up. He just hopes she wasn't a pain in the neck.

Brushing off that feeling, he intended to leave when the first crew hasten to where he was.

He covered this girl and faced the crew. He knew how nasty they could be, wanting to tease this human because she's the first they have come in contact with.

"She's a fine one huh" he teased attempting to touch her but Evander snaps his hands away while obstructing his view from even sighting her.

"I wonder how humans feel" the second crew teased jumping from behind Evander.

He began to fondle her hair and sniff her face.

Evander returns a glare at him. He ceased almost immediately, stepping back a little.

"Her lips are plump and not our kind" the third added as they burst into laughter.

"Back off!" He ordered and they trembles at his order while returning to their duty.

They'd prefer not to mess with him. Although they wouldn't blame why he was protective of her.

Whosoever sent them clearly gave the order that not a scratch on her skin.

One of the men arranged a cigar-shaped balloon, which was filled with a lighter-than-air gas.

Everyone fasten their gondola that is slung beneath the balloon which would hold the crew.

Evander moves closer to engines that drive propellers while placing his hands on the horizontal and vertical rudders to steer the craft.

Another crew member filled ship with the usual gases used for lifting airship; hydrogen and helium.

Once everything was set, they moved to sail off. The pilot unfastened his belt to let Evander take control of the engines while moving to the other side of the ship.

"What took you so long?" He asked throwing a jacket on his face.

Evander gave no reply as he took his seat, ready to ride the airship.

"I just can't wait for this be over Evander, these men, they're spooky and don't trust us"

"Ray, who'd trust criminals?" He finally spoke and the young lad blinks at him while scoffing.

Ray drew closer to him with dreamy eyes which got Evander jinxed. The least person he wanted on this ship was this lad.

"Tell me about the human world..."

"Fuck off Ray!" He barks irritated that this young man was clingy. Ray swallows hard and immediately focused on navigating the route they'd use.

Evander's ears detected whispers behind him.

"I don't trust him" the second whispers to the first who shrugged his shoulders.

"He was given a term he dares not refuse" the first reckons darkening his gaze at this man.

"Once this plane lands, we'd kill him" one of the men on board whispers.

"I can hear you" Evander yells and the men growls.

That's right, he was just different, he could hear even the tiniest sound.

He watch the stars, dust, gas, and dark matter, which were bound together by the gravitational attraction.

It was quite amazing but that wasn't his interest. His thoughts were eluded as all he could see was the girl he captured.

Her depressing look, the moments she opened up and her frightened gaze at him.

Certainly, she wouldn't recognize him because their last encounter was under the influence of alcohol.

That was preferable as they wouldn't meet ever again.

"Humans" he muses increasing the gear.

"Did she do something?" Ray questioned and was about to take his seat when one of the men quickly ran towards Evander.

"Shit! She awake!" He announces.

Ray woos and he jumps from his seat. He'd only be excited to see her eyes.

Evander growls as he rolled his eyes only to find her staggering towards him.

"You..." Her voice screeches as he realizes she was with a gun. Everything was happening fast that it got him bemused.

He was puzzled to how she got to him and where the other crew members were. What have she done within two minutes of her awakening?

How did she get a gun?
