♥ Chapter 13 ♥

Yara Blake.

Sunday.

19:30 '' The Darkmore brothers' mansion'' Eldoria.

She then takes me to the library. It's a grand space, with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves full of old and rare books. The dark wood of the shelves contrasts with the leather of the furniture, creating a sophisticated and peaceful atmosphere.

'' The library is one of the most important places in the mansion. The Darkmores use it often, so keep everything in order, but always very carefully. Don't touch the books unless absolutely necessary.

We continue the tour and pass the office. The space is serious, with a large mahogany desk in the center, meticulously organized papers, and a leather chair that looks like it was custom-made for someone of great power.

'' The office is where it messes. Darkmore takes care of their business. You will be responsible for cleaning this space every day, but never touch the documents. Only organize what's in sight, and don't open any drawers or cupboards.

Then she takes me to the garden. It's simply stunning, with flowers of every color, fountains that emit a soft, relaxing sound, and stone paths that wind between well-tended trees and shrubs. There is also a swimming pool, surrounded by sun loungers, and an outdoor seating area that looks like something out of a dream.

'' The garden and pool are maintained by other staff, so you won't have to worry about that part. Your focus will be on keeping the indoor areas in perfect condition.

After the garden, we return to the interior of the mansion.

Finally, Mrs. Thompson stops and looks at me seriously.

''Your job will be as a cleaner. You'll be responsible for cleaning Mr. Darkmore's rooms and offices, as well as washing his clothes. I know it may seem like a lot, but over time, you'll get used to it.

'' I see, ma'am. '' I reply, trying to take in all the information.

''Don't worry, dear.'' She says this, returning to her gentler tone. ''I'm here to help you with anything you need.

I take a deep breath.

''Mrs. Thompson, is there anything else I should know?'' I ask, stuttering a little. I'm very nervous, everything is new to me. '' A-Are there any other rules or anything I shouldn't do?

She pauses for a moment and looks at me carefully, as if pondering the best way to answer.

'' There are some important rules, yes, Yara. '' She begins, with a more serious tone. ''First, never enter Mr. Darkmore's rooms without permission. You should only go in to clean when you're sure they're not there. Otherwise, wait until they leave. This is very significant.

I nod, absorbing the information. The last thing I want is to cause trouble right away. I don't want to get fired, I'm sure Ronan will hurt me.

'' Another thing. '' continues Mrs. Thompson. '' Always maintain a respectful and discreet demeanor. They value privacy, so avoid asking questions or making unnecessary comments. Your job is to clean and organize, nothing more.

'' I understand, ma'am. '' I reply, trying not to show the nervousness growing inside me.

She gives me a small smile, noticing my tension.

''There's no need to worry, dear. If you follow these rules and do your job properly, everything will be fine. And, of course, if you have any questions or need help, I'm here to guide you.

''Thank you. '' I say, feeling a little more relieved.

''Another thing, Yara. '' she adds, ''avoid going around the mansion at night unless necessary. The Darkmores have irregular schedules, and it's best not to run into them at inopportune moments.

'' Of course, I'll be careful. '' I reply, determined to do everything right.

''In any case, do your job diligently, and everything will be fine,'' concluded Mrs. Thompson, with an encouraging smile.

''You bet, I'll follow all the instructions. '' I promise, hoping I can live up to expectations.

'' Now, you can go back to your room and rest, Yara. '' says Mrs. Thompson with a gentle smile. ''Tomorrow, you should get up early to start your work. I want to see you ready by eight o'clock. I recommend that you wake up at half past six, take a shower, and enjoy breakfast between seven and seven-thirty, so that you're ready for work at eight.

Furthermore, I nodded, absorbing the instructions.

'' I understand, Mrs. Thompson. '' I reply, trying to keep my composure, I'm very anxious.

She gives me an encouraging look.

''I know it's a new beginning for you, and it might be a bit scary at first, but everything will be fine. Now, get some rest. Tomorrow is an important day.

'' Yes, ma'am. Thank you, ma'am. '' I thank you sincerely.

As I walk back to my room, lost in thought about the next day, I turn a corner and accidentally bump into someone. I feel my body unbalanced, almost falling to the ground, but strong arms hold me firmly before I hit the ground. The shock makes me hold my breath, and when I look up, I see Mr. Magnus.

Our faces are so close that I can feel his hot breath. My heart starts racing, and a shiver runs through my body as he pulls me a little closer to him.

''Are you all right, Yara?'' His voice is calm, but there's something in it that makes me feel weak.

I've never been this close to another man. The closeness is disconcerting, and then I remember Ronan's threatening words: If I give morale to another man, I'll regret it.

I quickly pull myself together and walk away.

''S-s-sorry, sir… I didn't see you. '' My voice comes out shaky, reflecting the nervousness taking hold of me.

He smiles gently, but his eyes seem to analyze my every move.

''It's okay, you don't have to worry. I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself.

I look away from his face, trying to calm my racing heart. It's then that I notice he's wearing a tank top, and my eyes are involuntarily drawn to his muscular arms and defined chest. Before I can look away, he speaks again, with a soft tone that makes me freeze.

'' Do you like anything?

I feel my heart almost stop from how nervous I am, and my face blushes instantly.

'' N-N-No, sir... Excuse me. '' I reply quickly, my voice barely coming out, as I rush past him towards my room.

I close the door behind me tightly, leaning against it as I try to catch my breath. My heart is still racing, and what has just happened only increases my fear. Being here is going to be much more complicated than I imagined.
