♥ Chapter 3♥

Yara Blake.

Magnus looks directly at me and, after a short silence, begins the interview.

'' What's your name and how old are you?

I feel my heart racing, but I try to remain calm.

''M-My name is Yara Blake. '' I say, stuttering slightly. '' And I'm twenty-two.

Magnus writes something down in a notebook in front of him, while his brothers continue to watch me intently. The room falls silent for a moment, which only increases my discomfort. I run my hand down my leg several times, a habit I have when I'm nervous. Finally, Magnus asks:

''Why are you interested in this position? You know this position is to be our cook or cleaner.

My throat feels dry, but I try to concentrate. I know this is an important opportunity, and I need to give a convincing answer.

''Well, I… '' I begin, hesitating a little, but soon find my voice. ''I've always liked cooking and keeping things in order. Ever since I was little, I've learned to value these tasks, and I've always been very dedicated at home. When I saw this vacancy, I felt it was an opportunity to apply these skills in a different, more challenging environment.

I notice that the three of them continue to watch me, and my discomfort grows. Their gazes are so intense that they seem to be trying to see something in me that I can't see myself. Damien crosses his arms, still analyzing me, while Kael keeps his gaze fixed, as if waiting for something more.

I put my hand on my leg again, trying to calm myself down, but the gesture doesn't help much. I know I need to appear confident, even if inside I'm a mess of nerves. This is an opportunity I can't let slip away, and I need to remind myself of that every second.

Kael, who had been silent until then, uncrosses his arms and looks me straight in the eye.

''Are you single?'' His tone is firm and direct.

The question takes me by surprise, and for a moment, I feel my stomach flip. I bite my lip, hesitating before answering.

''No. '' I say, my voice coming out lower than I'd like. I'm married.

The three brothers exchange glances, and something changes in the air. A different gleam passes through Magnus and Kael's eyes, while Damien, who looks at me and flashes a slight smile, makes him look even more handsome. For a moment, my thoughts are lost in admiration of that smile, but then I mentally reprimand myself. This is no time for distractions.

Magnus takes the floor again, with a tone that leaves no room for doubt:

''You know that if you're accepted, you'll have to live in the mansion. You can go home on Friday night and return on Sunday night.

I swallow as I hear this condition. The idea of living away, even just for the week, seems impossible, considering how controlling Ronan is. I know he would never allow it without a good fight. Even so, I take a deep breath and agree with a slight nod.

''I see.'' I reply, trying to remain calm.

Damien, who until now had remained more distant, leans forward a little, still with that enigmatic smile on his lips.

''Your husband won't mind your absence?

The question is asked with an almost disinterested tone, but I feel the weight of it. My hands start to sweat, and I run my hand down my leg again, trying to hide my nervousness.

''He's going to…'' I start, but quickly correct myself. ''He'll care, of course. But I'm going to talk to him. If it's a good opportunity, I'm sure he'll understand.

Even as I say these words, I know they sound more like a vague hope than a certainty. Inside, I feel a mixture of fear and determination, knowing that this decision could change everything in my life, for better or worse.

Kael, still staring at me, asks the next question, which makes me even more uncomfortable:

''Do you have children?

I instantly feel my face heat up. The mere idea of having children would be surreal to me, considering I've never been touched. The question hits me in a strange way, almost as if I'm invading unknown and intimate territory. I take a deep breath, trying to keep my composure before answering.

''No, I don't have any children.

As soon as the words come out, I notice how the gaze of the three men intensifies. Magnus, Kael and Damien are watching me in a way I've never experienced before. It's as if they're analyzing every detail and every expression, and that makes my discomfort grow even more.

This is the first time I've had men look at me so intensely, and it's an overwhelming sensation. The whole situation makes me deeply embarrassed, and I can barely maintain eye contact. My heart is racing, and my hands are sweating. I try not to show how nervous I am, but the intensity of those looks is something I never imagined I'd face.

Magnus straightens up in his chair.

''Amelia, come here.'' He calls to her in a firm, authoritative voice.

Amelia enters the office and approaches, maintaining a professional posture. She greets him.

'' Yes, sir?

Magnus looks at me and gives me a small smile. His gaze is intense and enigmatic.

''We already have our maid. '' he says, with a tone that shows decisiveness. ''Dismiss the others, the interview is over.

Amelia replies promptly.

''Yes, my lord.

Magnus continues to watch me and says:

''Go with Amelia. She'll explain things to you and give you the address of our house. We want you to come on Sunday evening.

'' Yes, sir. '' I agree quickly, trying to keep my composure.

As I say “sir”, I notice that the intense gleam in the eyes of the three men seems to have changed in a subtle way, which makes me a little uneasy. It's a reaction I can't fully understand, but it makes me feel a mixture of nervousness and curiosity. Following the directions, I go with Amelia, eager to find out more about what awaits me.

As I'm about to leave the room, I look back. The three of them are still watching me with that strange, yet different look that moves me. It's a look that mixes intensity and something else, a mystery that intrigues me and makes me even more nervous.
