Chapter 7

Layla showed an arrogant look in front of Lucien who had been waiting for her for 15 minutes. It seemed like she did it on purpose so that her master would feel annoyed with her. Lucien looked at her calmly while glancing at the watch on his hand.

"You're 15 minutes late, what's taking you so long?" Lucien asked. Judging from his expression, he wasn't as angry as Layla thought. He actually looked quite calm as if waiting 15 minutes was no big deal to him.

But what Layla didn't realize was that the three maids who were tasked with helping her were standing at the bottom of the stairs, bowing their heads in fear. Lucien turned to the three maids, his expression immediately changed. From what was originally calm, it has now turned violent.

His dark eyes suddenly turned sharp and scary. Layla was confused, what made this man immediately change when he saw the maids.

"I'm sure you already know, I really hate waiting."

"F-forgive us, Master!"

"So, can you tell me what is the most reasonable reason for you to give me?"

"M-Miss Layla didn't like the dress we gave and asked for another dress. If not, Miss Layla refused to wear the dress."

"Red dress, huh? You know I really hate the color red, right?" Lucien said while glancing at the red dress Layla was wearing. She was stunned, she didn't know that Lucien hated the color red. Even though she chose this dress because she really liked the color.

"So he hates red?" She thought. For some reason this made her feel a little happy. Choosing something that this man hates is a pleasure in itself for her. She didn't want this man to think that he was free to do whatever he wanted just because he had hired her to do it.

Layla held back her smile, this was an opportunity for her to show that she couldn't just be subdued.

"I didn't know you hated red dresses, it's no wonder it's so hard to find one in a wardrobe that big. It's the only red dress you can find and it takes a lot of time to find it." Layla said while showing her arrogance. She wasn't sensitive enough to see the fear on the faces of the three maids standing nearby.

Lucien stared at her for a moment and then turned his head as he walked away. But before he actually left the room, he stopped and said what he needed to say.

"You three, go back to your places. Don't come out before getting any orders from me!"

"Y-yes, Master!" They said as they grew older, their heads bowed in fear.

Realizing that Lucien would leave without saying anything to her, Layla immediately walked over to him and subconsciously grabbed his hand.

"Wait a minute, what about me?"

"You?"

"I've dressed up like this, now what?"

"Go back to your room and reflect on your mistakes!"

"What?"

"Listen to me! Don't even think about being disobedient if you don't want to suffer the punishment!"

"W-what did you say?"

Lucien continued his footsteps. He left without asking Layla to come along. Layla, who didn't know what really happened, just sat there with a strange feeling.

She realized that she was left alone in this room, there was no one around and that made her start to think that this situation might be in her favor. She could try to escape and surely no one would notice.

"That's right, I have to get out of this place. He's clearly a strange man, I can't stay here any longer. However, I have to leave immediately!" She thought. She peeked out the window, making sure that Lucien Stephenson had left in his car with the driver and his bodyguard.

Layla checked her surroundings, hoping that no one would see or watch her. But the problem was, the dress she was wearing was too long and would be very annoying if she wanted to run.

"What can I do, even though this is a very nice dress." She muttered softly while trying to tear off the bottom of the red dress.

It takes quite a lot of effort to do it, once it succeeds. She immediately opened the window carefully and climbed in like a thief.

"I did it!" She smiled happily when she made it through the window and was now outside the mansion.

Of course, continuing this escape mission was not as easy as she thought, the grounds of this mansion were very, very large and it took quite a long time to walk to the gate. Apart from that, the challenge is definitely the guards who could catch her trying to escape.

"Oh my God, how is this? I forgot that the courtyard of this mansion is even wider than a football field." Layla is annoyed, she is in quite a difficult situation now. Even though she wasn't sure she could return to Jonathan while she was still under contract with a strange and mysterious man named Lucien Stephenson, she might be able to go and stay temporarily at a friend's house.

"The most important thing now is that I must be able to escape from this place first!" She started walking around stealthily, acting like an amateur thief.

From one tree to another that she passed, she tried to hide while observing her surroundings, hoping that no one would see her.

Cold sweat began to pour down her body, she had never felt this scared in her life after the terrible incident that happened to her as a teenager.

"Safe, still safe. I just need to walk straight to the gate. Damn it, but why is it still so far?" She started to scream in her heart, this was much more difficult than she thought.

Bang...

A gunshot rang out and shot quickly right next to her. The birds perched on the tree where she was hiding flew around.

"W-what was that? Gunshots?" She thought. Layla froze, she was sure someone was trying to shoot her because the shot almost hit her shoulder.

"Tch, missed, huh?"

A man appeared at the end of the street holding a rifle. Layla's eyes widened, she didn't know how long the man had been there because she didn't see anyone else around.

Layla was still silent as she moved, her body shaking with fear. The man with light brown hair and blue eyes stepped casually towards her, still with the rifle in his hand. He looked at Layla with a mischievous look and grinned like a wild wolf.

"W-who are you? W-what did you just do?"

"It turns out you're the slut my brother brought, huh? You looks ugly, I didn't know his type was so lowly like this, what a shame."
