Chapter 2

(Eleanora's pov)

I was dazzled staring at Alexis with my heart beating wildly in my chest. My long-time crush was holding me this close; my cheeks had a tint of red on them because of how hard I was blushing.

"It's nothing but you should pay more attention to your environment. What was going through your head crossing the road before checking if it was safe?" Alexis pulled away and gave me a questioning look. I felt guilty knowing if I had been hit by a power bike, it was my fault and no one else.

"Sorry, I had something on my mind." He nodded at my apology, then his brow furrowed with a worried look that puzzled me. "Are you alright? Your face is red, and your temperature is a bit high?" His warm palm touched my forehead checking my temperature.

"I am fine," I replied, taking a step back. Was he ignorant, or did he just want to tease me? He knew that I was blushing hard with my face heated up because of how close we were. Staring at his mesmerizing silvery grey eyes got me heated up.

"I guess so," he nodded and gave me a sly smirk. He knew what he was doing. My mind started coming up with crazy ideas thinking my crush was hitting up on me. I stared blankly at his retreating figure daydreaming about him. How I wished we could spend a night together.

Alexis was my senior in college and the number one beau. He was the typical college bad boy, and rumours also had it he was a secret Mafia boss, but that was not what made all the girls trip for him. It was because he was the younger brother of the alpha with a very charismatic sexual appeal.

My daze was broken when a car drove by and splashed water on me, my jaws dropped at how much of a fangirl I was acting like. My clothes were completely ruined, and worst of all, the driver didn't even apologize, but I didn't get mad because nothing could ruin my mood knowing that my crush saved my life. He was my knight in shining armour, my alpha.

After getting on a bus home from the nearest bus station, I kept daydreaming about Alexis and how sweet it would be if he was my mate. Other passengers were giving me the eye like I was a psycho wearing wet clothes and smiling like a fool, but who cares about their thoughts?

.

When I got home, I was welcomed by the cheerful voice of my mother. "Welcome home, Ele. How was school today?" She asked about my day with a bright smile as she welcomed me home with a bear hug.

"It was fun," I replied, returning the hug because today was the best school day ever. My crush finally spoke to me. "That's great, so do you have any plans tonight for the big day tomorrow? Just in between us, I think your dad and brother are planning a surprise for their princess." Mum asked about my plans for my birthday while also making a joke about my dad and brother.

I was the princess of our home. Mum was excited about my coming of age, but the men in our family didn't have the same enthusiasm, knowing immediately I came of age, a random male werewolf could come right in at any moment and snatch me away.

"I plan on celebrating with my friends in the club," I informed Mum, who frowned at the idea, but she knew she could not stop me since it was my special night. "Alright, but be careful out there."

"Sure I will," I replied running up the stairs to my room. I had a quick shower and then ate some food Mum had prepared for me before packing my things to head out for Hazel's house. My bestie, who was more loaded than me, had already made arrangements for the dress and makeup for my big night.

I double-checked my bag to confirm everything was in order before heading out. At the entrance of the house, Mum was speaking to Dad, who just got back home. "Good evening, Dad," I chimed, placing a quick peck on his cheeks, walking past him outside.

"Where are you going, young lady?" Dad's sharp voice stopped me in my tracks, I turned towards him with a silly smile. "A slumber party at Hazel's to celebrate my birthday." A lie easily left my lips knowing fully well he wouldn't let me go if he knew I was going to the club.

I gave Mum a side glance begging her not to spill anything, and she immediately understood. "It's her birthday so she needs to celebrate with her friends." My angelic mother coerces my Dad. Dad, who was skeptical about the idea because he was smart enough to know we were lying, was already bending to our will when an annoying voice chirped in.

"Why can't Hazel come over? After all, it's your birthday and not hers?" My annoying elder brother Ethan just had to poke his nose into my business.

"No one asked for your opinion loser." I snapped at Ethan, who just smirked, enjoying getting on my nerves. At times how overprotective he acted pisses me off, like today.

"Ethan has a point, dear; maybe Hazel can come over." Mum unexpectedly jumped on the same boat with Ethan.

"But I have already made plans with Hazel," I tried to explain but it was not an uneven match of 3 is to 1.

"Darling plans can be changed," Mum added, standing next to Dad, who had his arms wrapped around her waist like a loving couple who supported each other no matter what. "But you can do this to me.." my eyes started to stink with tears knowing they didn't plan on letting me go out.

Mum suddenly changed her mind because she was never in on the idea; her perfect son Ethan just had to speak her mind. "Ele, your mum and brother are right; you are an untrained she-wolf. I don't think it will be a nice idea to go with whatever plans you have with your friends late at night. I know you are not going for a slumber party."

Finally, he delivered his judgement. I gritted my teeth at them holding myself from saying anything instigative. They were trying to look out for me but this was ruining my special day.

"Stop ruining my special day; how do you expect me to cancel plans I made for months?" I barked at them storming away up the stairs back to my room.

Dad ran after me, trying to placate me with his reason, "Elle, don't be mad. We are only trying to look after you."

That was enough already; I slammed my door hard, tired of hearing their reasons. This was all Ethan's fault. I swear to get after that snake.

Dad tried to get me to understand him but I refused to speak to him or anyone else. Even during dinner I didn't go down or touch the food my mum kept at my door.

Later, around 7 pm, when I could hear them watching TV from the sitting room, it was a hint that the coast was clear. I swapped my items into a school bag and then snuck out of the house quietly through my room window. Luckily there was a tree close to the window that made it easy.

I successfully got out of the house and jumped off the tree, glad that my escape was successful until the same annoying voice that was trying to ruin my day suddenly spoke from behind me.

"Seems like someone is out looking for trouble." My head quickly turned to the source of the sound; my eyes spotted Ethan, who was leaning on the tree trunk, taking a smoke with one of his hands in his pocket.
