Chapter 5

Eleanora’s POV

“You scumbag!” I threw a vase at Alaric in rage while he tried to walk out on me. The vase hit the wall, missing him slightly. “I hate you!” I yelled.

Alaric turned to me. His grey eyes gleamed as he gave a ghastly stare and arched his brow.

I was frightened when I saw how angry I made him. He looked like he was going to kill me for throwing the vase at him. I sat still on the bed.

He gazed at me and scoffed, “Why would you ever think out of all the others, I will stoop so lowly and choose you as my Luna? Get your acts together. Take that card and don’t try anything that will cost you and your family.”

I was so mad but I wasn’t going to piss him more than I already did despite all I had in mind to say to him. “How dare he threaten me with my family?’” I said to myself.

“You know your brother, Ethan, is training to be one of my officials. How do you think he will take it when he finds out that you are the reason why he lost his position?” Alaric said to me. His look was fixed. I could not look him directly in the eye anymore.

I felt so much pain and shame. I wished I had stayed home like Ethan had advised me the night before. “You don’t have to bother then. Since you do not wish to be with me, you will never set eyes on me again. I promise.” I said as my voice trembled.

Alaric walked out. He seemed undisturbed by whatever decision I planned to make.

I heard his vehicle leave and then I screamed. I couldn’t believe all that had just happened to me. My life felt like a nightmare and it was worse that all that was happening at the moment when my life just began.

I stood up and found the horrible dress he had prepared for me. I was mad that I had no other option than to wear what he had gotten for me. It was a nice gown but everything that could remind me of him nauseated me at that moment.

Without any other choice, I put the dress on and packed up my things. I searched the room to be sure I didn’t leave anything behind. Then I saw my pantie lying in the corner, on the floor of the room. With sheer disgust, I walked over to it and picked it up. I was going to sniff it but I just held It closer to my chest and my wolf wailed.

I walked out of the room and headed straight to the car which Alaric had prepped for me. Without saying a word to the driver, I stormed into the back seat of the car. I kept my gaze out, through the window all through the ride.

Several thoughts ran through my mind during the ride. I just felt like tearing myself apart for what had happened to me.

I got home and ran straight into my room. I did not acknowledge my mom or Ethan even though I saw them in the parlor as I stormed in.

“Ele,” My mum walked into my room after me and called out to me softly, “Is anything the matter?”

I pretended as if I had not heard her call out to me or spoke to me. I just lay on my bed and ignored her presence.

“Where were you coming from?” She added.

I did not want to give her a response but I knew that if I didn’t say something to her, she wasn’t going to let me be and I wanted to be left alone. “Mom, can we talk some other time? I want to be by myself for now.”

My mum knew something was wrong with me because I had celebrated my eighteenth birthday happily at home and everyone knew how excited I was to clock eighteen.

“You know you can always confide in me, right? Did you have a fight with Hazel?”

She was trying her best to get me to speak to her but it was making me upset. Then, I yelled, “Mom! Please I want to be alone.” I turned to look at her with my eyes red. It signaled how furious my wolf was.

She stood up immediately, respecting my space, and walked out of my room without saying a word.

After she left, I felt bad for speaking to her in such a rude manner but it was little to how guilty I felt for what had happened between Alaric and me.

I spent the rest of the day sobbing about how everything in my life was not going to go well due to what had happened.

The next morning.

I walked out of my room to see my mum and dad preparing to go out. They both dressed as though they were going for an occasion. I gazed around the house, looking lost because I wasn’t aware of any celebration, we were supposed to have that day.

“Eleanor,” My dad called out to me as I walked towards them in the parlor. “Your mother said you had a long day yesterday, which was why she felt it was best to let you rest.” He wrapped me in his arms and kissed me on my forehead.

My dad always treated me with care and love. I was his only daughter and, in his words, “Always his little princess.”

“Good morning, Dad. What is happening today?” I asked.

Ethan walked in on us and said, “Really, Ele?” He looked at me as though what I had said made him offended.

“You don’t have to get upset by your sister. I’m sure it was her birthday celebration that made her forget.” Dad said, trying to ease Ethan’s anger.

I began to think of what I must have been missing or what it was I forgot. Just as my dad was going to say it, I remembered the date and said, “Oh my! You’re getting your position today?”

I looked at Ethan and instead of rejoicing with him, I was blank. “Could the worst things not leave some space between them for me?” I said inwardly.

I forced a short smile on my face and said to him, “Congratulations. You have worked hard enough for this."
