Chapter 6

Grace felt awkward and couldn't just walk away, so she forced a few fake laughs like Emily. "Just got back."

The sun was blazing, and Charles's gaze was exceptionally cold, staring intently at Grace.

Grace didn't care, not even glancing at Charles.

Emily tightened her grip on Charles's arm, casually looking at Grace's colleagues, and politely said, "Are you going for lunch? Charles and I were just about to eat. Why don't we go together? It's at the nearby Golden Dining Room."

"Golden Dining Room?" Her colleagues' eyes lit up. The Golden Dining Room was one of the top-ranked restaurants in Silverlight City. As ordinary employees, they probably wouldn't have the chance to eat there in their lifetime.

Grace's expression shifted slightly, and she nodded without hesitation. "Sure." Since Emily was offering a meal, why not take it?

Emily was momentarily stunned, her fake smile instantly disappearing.

Grace's red lips curved slightly. She knew Emily invited them to lunch just to show off that she could dine at high-end places, not to genuinely treat them.

This time, Grace wanted to disgust Emily. She enjoyed seeing Emily's face twisted in anger.

Grace paused, looked at Charles, who was staring coldly at her, and asked with a smile, "Is that okay? Mr. Montague, you're very generous and wouldn't mind, right?"

Charles curled his cold lips. "I don't mind."

His quick agreement made Grace slightly stunned. Considering how much Charles dislikes her, shouldn't he have refused her outright at this moment? Why did he agree so easily?

Grace had asked on purpose, expecting Charles to refuse. His refusal would not only fulfill Grace's intention but also embarrass Emily, killing two birds with one stone.

Grace had calculated everything but hadn't expected Charles to agree. Could it be that he wanted to take revenge for last night's threat, or did he have another scheme?

Grace couldn't figure out what Charles was up to. Taking a deep breath, Grace had no choice but to respond. "Thank you, Mr. Montague."

Ten minutes later, in a private room upstairs at the Golden Dining Room, Grace and her colleagues sat together, with Emily and Charles sitting opposite them.

Perhaps Charles's aura was too overwhelming, her colleagues kept their heads down, too nervous to speak, constantly rubbing their fingers.

Since entering the private room, Charles had been staring coldly at Grace. After a while, Grace felt annoyed by his gaze.

Grace shrugged her shoulders and sarcastically said, "Mr. Montague, your fiancée is right here. It's not appropriate for you to keep looking at me like that, is it?"

Charles crossed his legs, his face cold. He said coldly, "It's been three years, and you've become even more shameless!"

Grace laughed, looked up, and fearlessly replied, "I have to thank you for the fifty slaps and making me kneel to apologize three years ago."

Hearing this, Charles's cold eyes tightened, and an extreme chill surrounded him.

Perhaps because of the mention of past events, Emily gritted her teeth and said, "Grace, you finally came back. Let's not bring up the past and upset Charles."

Then, Emily turned to Charles and gently said, "Charles, let it go. I've already forgotten that Grace caused my miscarriage."

As soon as Emily finished talking, Charles's face got even darker.

Grace couldn't help but laugh, calling out her hypocrisy. "Emily, if you hadn't said that, Mr. Montague probably wouldn't be so pissed."

Emily was caught off guard, not expecting Grace to call her out like that.

Before Emily could react, Grace kept going, "See? The second you finished talking, Mr. Montague's face turned super ugly."

Emily was speechless, not knowing what to say.

Charles's face got even darker, and a chilling vibe surrounded him.

The room felt like it dropped to freezing.

Grace knew it was wise to keep her mouth shut. Even though she was different from three years ago, she still needed to be careful. With Charles's temper, he wouldn't let her off easy.

Grace looked up, forcing a smile. "Mr. Montague, are you feeling okay? Why do you look so upset? Or did I say something to tick you off?"

Charles watched Grace's act silently, his expression cold.

Grace felt a chill down her spine under his gaze and smiled helplessly. "Mr. Montague, if I said something wrong, please don't blame me. I'm sorry."

As she spoke, Grace winked at Charles, showing no real sign of apology.

Charles's eyes were sharp and cold, and he sneered, teetering on the brink of anger.

Grace's two colleagues kept their heads down, shrinking their necks, too scared to move or even breathe.

Even Emily, sitting to the side, didn't dare to speak, afraid the anger would turn on her.

Grace forced a smile, knowing she had pushed it far enough and couldn't provoke Charles any more, or she wouldn't make it out alive today.

She suddenly clutched her stomach, pretending to be in pain. She lied smoothly, "My stomach hurts. Excuse me, I need to go to the restroom."

Under Charles's cold gaze, Grace stood up abruptly and, out of his sight, winked at her two colleagues, signaling them to follow her.

As soon as Grace left her seat, Charles's cold voice reached her ears, "Stop!"

Grace instinctively stopped, clutching her stomach. She hurriedly said, "Sorry, Mr. Montague, my stomach really hurts. Excuse me."

Without giving Charles a chance to speak, Grace turned and ran.

Anger surged through Charles as he quickly stood up, attempting to grab Grace. However, she had already dashed away, disappearing from sight.

Charles, furious, slammed the table, looking terrifying. "Damn it!" he cursed. She got away again!

Charles's sudden outburst left the two colleagues who wanted to leave frozen, unsure whether to stay or go.

Meanwhile, Grace ran back to the design studio and quickly submitted her resignation. It was too dangerous for her to let Charles know her whereabouts; she had to leave immediately.

After leaving the design studio, feeling guilty, Grace called one of her colleagues.

The phone rang for a long time before it was answered. Grace lowered her voice and asked, "Did you get out?"
