"It's been one year now! According to Piper's and Piper's contracts, it's time for her to fulfill her responsibilities!" I gulped down the last of my Gimlet.

Luther's face became heavy; from the start, he didn't agree with my decision to enter into a contract marriage with Piper.

This embarrassing incident happened a year ago, but until now, the atmosphere in my pack has not been peaceful.

"So you plan to have a son from her? I thought this was just a contract marriage between you guys!" he protested.

"Yes, she pressed a contract with me for this marriage, but that's not the point!"

"So what?"

"Family tradition, and my grandfather didn't let me control the family inheritance until now because I don't have any descendants yet!"

Luther showed a grin. As a beta, Luther inherited this position from generation to generation from his family. I know how much he loves the Coralmoon Pack, including protecting me.

"Humans are not allowed to give children to shifters; they are not allowed to be Luna in the pack!" he protested. "You should forgive Harper because she is your mate, and she is the one who is worthy of giving you a Son."

"I think after all these years have passed, you've changed your perspective on this issue, Luther! Harper has hurt my pride as an Alpha, and I won't allow anyone to put me down! She's betrayed!"

Luther shook his head, not accepting it. "Piper, that girl doesn't have good memories here. She has been through many hardships since you brought her to Monroe Mannor."

Luther tried to control his wolf. "And all that time, you just watched her being enslaved, bullied by the pack. Piper performs all tasks beyond her control. Why do you now want offspring from her? Don't you realize Piper hates you now!"

"There is a fine line between hatred and responsibility from Piper for me." for a moment, I smiled faintly. "She needs money; she is a naive woman willing to do that to protect her brother, who I locked up."

"She's in her third year of college, and she barely has any friends on campus, so what qualities do you see in a woman like her? She is not fit to provide offspring for the pack!"

"ENOUGH LUTHER!" My tone rose. My intimidating aura activated, and Luther's shoulders dropped afterward.

My hand patted his shoulder. "I know you are angry with my decision, but my relationship with Piper is limited to a marriage contract. Once I gain full control of the inheritance, I will kill her and her brother because no human must know about our kind."

Luther stared in response to the flash of my wolf's irises; he sighed in his chest. "Okay!" he answered.

After that, I met Piper in her room. I heard the girl has been busy with her college assignments lately and often comes home late. Even though I've warned her about this, she's getting more stubborn about tricking me occasionally.

"You're home late again today!" I entered her room.

Piper pulled up her cardigan to cover her chest, which was exposed because she wore her satin pajamas. Since we married, she has tried to act like a wife, even though it doesn't work.

"I'm sorry, sir, I have college assignments to complete!"

"Wasn't it kind enough for me to let you stay at college, then why disobey me?"

"Sir, I didn't mean that. Once again, forgive my mistake."

"You haven't forgotten who you have to protect, right ?"

Piper raised her head; her amber irises always frightened every time I threatened her like this. A sculpted face with narrow cheekbones, a high nose, and wavy black hair. The way he looked at me was always with a look of despair.

"Please don't hurt my brother again, Sir; I did everything you said. I work in this place day and night; I let them insult me for being your wife, me too..."

Her mouth stopped babbling. I know the pressure she's under because the she-wolf is more supportive of Harper than Piper. I still let Harper stay in the parking area, and she has worked as a division head at my company, Monroe Funiture Company. Inc.

"Why did you stop talking?"

"I'm sorry, Sir, I shouldn't have said that," she said, lowering her head again. "I know this is just a contract marriage, and I don't deserve to complain to you about anything!" she continued.

I crossed my arms across my chest. For a year, I restrained myself. I'm Piper; Winter is now a hot girl to fuck.

"Tomorrow night, come to my office! I have something to discuss with you!"

"Tomorrow night?" she repeated my words

"Why? Do you have more important matters than this?"

Piper clutched the mane of her cardigan. Her words were muffled, but the look on her face showed something she was hiding.

"I-I have to meet someone tomorrow, but I'll try to get home quickly!"

"Who is the person you want to meet?"

"My friend!"

"Male or female friends?"

Piper fell silent again. That makes my heart uneasy. No one can disturb my toys, and Piper must be a virgin. Urging her would only make her lie more, so I decided to keep an eye on her Tomorrow.

"Okay, if you don't want to answer, just ensure you come to my room on time tomorrow!"

"Yes, Sir"

I turned around; my steps stopped because Piper's voice called me again, "Sir, let me ask you one thing."

"What?"

"After this marriage contract ends and I fulfill my responsibility for it, then you will free me and Johan, right?" she asked.

"Of course!" I answered calmly and walked away without looking back at her.

My mind link was active, asking Hugo, one of my bodyguards, to meet me. "Tomorrow you watch Piper, take photos of all her activities, and report them to me! I wonder what kind of friend she wants to meet!"

"Yes, Sir!"
