2. The Girl with Blue eyes

The Girl with Blue eyes

Samuel easily reached the location, a three-star hotel on the outskirts of the city, the perfect place for wealthy individuals to engage in shady activities. Today, he had driven a black sedan to maintain a low profile. Parking his car in the underground lot, Samuel made his way towards the hotel lobby. Before he could reach the elevator, someone stopped him.

"Here's the ticket Victor mentioned, and also cover your face with this mask," the person said. Samuel recognized the individual, though he couldn't recall the name, as Victor always dealt with them. "Alright," Samuel replied, taking the paper and mask without so much as a thank you.

Standing before the gate, which resembled any normal party with strict security, Samuel entered. Inside, people were talking and drinking, obviously attempting to conceal the criminal activities taking place deeper within the hall. After navigating through a few turns, he finally reached the darkest area.

Inside, people sat on chairs, their faces covered by masks similar to Samuel's. Although he struggled with remembering names, Samuel's eyes could recall faces and figures at a single glance. Scanning the room, he noticed the dim lighting, but still recognized many familiar figures sitting and bidding, as if attending some grand, charitable auction.

With a small laugh, Samuel said, “Ah, and people say, I am the bad person”

Samuel runs a small chain of restaurants and hotels, as well as an illegal loan company that has been legally operating for several years. However, he has never done anything as cruel as what he is about to witness.

At the current business event, Samuel sees males, females, and even small children standing on stage in seductive clothing, each with a number tag on their right chest. They are likely being referred to by these numbers.

After the count reaches twenty, Samuel notices a weak and pale girl standing there, sobbing in fear and unable to cry loudly.

“Like mother like daughter” he mattered. With a sigh, Samuel signals for the bidding and successfully purchases her.

As Samuel remains seated, he observes that the majority of the individuals on stage are small children, as they are easier to abduct and harder for poor parents to find.

Samuel's gaze then falls on a girl with the tag number twenty-six. Unlike the other children, she is not weak or malnourished, suggesting she may come from a decent family. What catches Samuel's attention is that she is not crying or shivering, but rather silently observing the people around her with a mature, almost predatory gaze.

Perhaps sensing Samuel's intense stare, the girl turns her face towards him, and their eyes meet. Samuel is shocked by the flame of rage in her blue, shining eyes, which seem to reflect his own past self when he witnessed his father's death.

The middle-aged man who had purchased the young girl was now squatting on the floor, covering his bloody right eye, with two men holding the girl and injecting something into her hand. "I don't want this impudent girl," the man said through pained groans. "Sorry sir, once you bring the goods, it's nonrefundable," one of the men replied.

As the middle-aged man tried to argue further, Samuel stepped in and said, "I'll buy her." Samuel's interest in the girl was evident, and he was determined to acquire her before someone else did. However, his plans were thwarted when she was quickly sold to another buyer, showcasing her distinctive facial features that would likely make her a beautiful woman as she grew older.

With the commotion unfolding, Samuel seized the opportunity to intervene and secure the girl for himself. By offering to purchase her, Samuel demonstrated his willingness to go to great lengths to obtain the child, even if it meant engaging in questionable or unethical practices.

Samuel sitting in the driving seat of his car, through the rare view saw that little girl sleeping in the back seat, they probably injected seductive to her. He didn’t know what he was thinking when he brought this child, Samuel never thought of settling down or having a family and he detests children the most, they are loud, unpredictable, and hard to handle.

Samuel is jolted back to his senses by the ringing of his phone. It's Victor calling on his personal number. "When will you start calling on my work phone?" Samuel asks angrily, but Victor doesn't answer the question. Instead, he says, "You brought the wrong girl. I asked for the girl with tag number twenty-six."

Victor is obviously upset. He has a habit of doing everything perfectly, and Samuel has made a grave mistake. The auction is already over. "Twenty-six? Oh..." Samuel pauses, then continues, "I have that girl with me, and do whatever you think is best for her," he says, his mind in a mess.

"Why did you bring another girl?" Victor is well aware of Samuel's mindset, so he knows this is something impossible. "Ah, yes, call Leonard to my house," Samuel ends the call, not paying attention to what Victor is asking, his eyes still fixed on the little girl in the backseat.

On the way back home, many thoughts race through Samuel's mind. As soon as he arrives, he sees Victor with a bandage on his cheek, sitting in the living room along with a sleepy Leonard. "Hey, dumbass, examine her," Samuel says, kicking Leonard to wake him up suddenly, as he places the little girl in front of him.

"Take her to the bed," Leonard says, standing up with his medical box while approaching the only bedroom in Samuel's house. After examining her thoroughly, Leonard prescribes some medicine and instructs Samuel, "Clean her and change her into something comfortable. The sedative given to her isn't fatal, but considering her age, she might have a fever later."

After a few more suggestions, Leonard leaves, not curious about the identity of this girl, as his sleep is most important at the moment, as he has an important surgery to perform tomorrow. Victor brings some clothes for her to change into and wants to clean her, but Samuel stops him. "You can go back," he says. Victor strangely looks at Samuel, noticing his unusual behavior.

"Bring me the details about her as soon as possible, especially anything about her father," Samuel instructs, looking at Victor's questioning eyes. Victor, knowing he won't get a direct answer from someone as rude as Samuel, leaves with a heart full of curiosity.

Samuel sits beside her, observing every single detail of her features. Her hair is darker compared to his, and her chubby face makes it hard to define any resemblance to Eirene. "Why does her daughter look like my past self?" he wonders.
