CHAPTER TWO: Call the school nurse!
Spring water high school- the senior year 2019
On Monday Afternoon,
3pm
"Remember, sharp kicks and smiles, smiles, tight formations, smiles!" She said.
Alexia, their captain stood, her ponytail bouncing with each nod.
"Alright, girls!. Let's get this perfect! We barely have two weeks to the anniversary celebration.
"The prettcats," she said as they began to practice again,
"Hey, hey, ho, how! Prettycats are the way to go!" They chanted, their voices echoed the basement.
Their movements were coordinated, they tumbled, spun and leaped across the floor, their pom-pom moved in perfect harmony.
"Prettycats, Prettycats, we're on fire! We're gonna win, we never surrender!" they cheered beautifully.
The teams rehearsed perfectly, few students watched them.
Then, Alexia waved her head, trying to shake off the awkward dizziness, she had to focus on the practice. She begin into the next flip, then her vision becomes blurry as she landed on the ground and everything went black.
Sonita, her best friend stopped the music, while her teammates gathered to her side
"Give her some space," one of them said, fanning her with a local handfan,
"Alexia! Oh my gosh, Alexia!!" Sonita cried
Laura, a science student quickly checked her pulse, "She is still breathing, but we need to get her to the clinic, now!".
"Call the school nurse! We need medical attention!", Coach Radiance yelled out.
They dragged the stretcher towards the school clinic.
In the clinic, the school nurse, Mrs. Moon quickly took charge of the patient lying flat on the stretcher
"What happened,?" She asked,
"We're all practicing, and then she fainted!. She looked healthy before then. No sign!" Sonita cried while fidgeting all over.
Mrs. Moon nodded, checked Alexia's pale face.
"Let's get her vitals checked. I'll call her parents to come pick her up."
Mark Sun and Sarah Sun walked in as Nurse moon greeted them.
"Nurse, what could be the problem,?" Mark asked, looking so worried.
"I've run initial tests checked her vital which it's normal, but I think we should do some more test to determine what caused her fainting,"
Sarah gazed at Alexia in the ward who's slowly regaining herself though still weak,
"Do whatever it takes to find out what's wrong with our daughter," Mark urged. Ms. Moon nodded, directing the doctors practitioners on what to do
After a series of tests conducted, including blood test and a physical exam,
Mrs. Moon called Mark and Sarah into her office with the test results on the table.
Her expression was not looking good at all, "I'm scared to say this, Mr. SUN, this is really serious than I thought." She said sadly. But there was silent between them in the room, she continued.
"The results shows that Alexia is… pregnant," she hand in the test result to Mark, they looked stunned and dumbfounded.
Sarah snapped her fingers at Alexia's face angrily to reality. "Tell me, Alexia, when and where did you get yourself into this mess!?"
"Mom, I…" Alexia stammered, her voice breaking off.
Sarah's face turned red, "Don't even think about lying to me!, Alexia. I want the truth from you."
Alexia's mind flashed back to the club night; the music, the laughter and the boy with an infectious smile. She remembered the way he moved closer, his eyes locked on hers and…
"Alexia, I'm talking to you!" Her mum yelled at her bitterly, she knew that she landed herself into a great mess.
She took a deep breath, and her mouth drops while the memories of that night kept flooding back to her memories.
"It was a mistake, Mom. A one-time mistake. I was at…" she paused, refrain from saying further words.
"A mistake? Alexia, you just turned 17 few weeks ago.! And you know better than to let things "just happen," Sarah responded.
Alexia nodded, tears dropped off her eyes. "I know, Mom and I'm sorry."
Sarah sighed, shuddered her shoulders, held her hands firmly. "Who's the father, you need to speak up fast to save your face in public,"
Alexia's heart sank, knowing that if she dare speak his name, she would be a dead meat.
19 years old, Bruce Robin groaned, moaned violently as the cold water dripped down his skin. The water was so cold that the entire bathroom smoked out Ice which made him feel he was in a frozen tomb, the sound of his phone began to vibrate with an incoming call in the room, as the music downstairs in the sit-out and parlor grew louder. Bruce sighed, quickly turned off the shower, grabbed a towel to dry himself
His friend, Steve walked into the kitchen grabbing a beer from the fridge.
"Bruce, you look messy," he said, looking at him while he sipped the drink.
"The girls from school are coming right away, go and dress good." But Bruce didn't respond, walked to the speakers to mute the music.
"Hello, Dad," he answered,
"Bruce, whatsup," his dad responded.
Steve raised his eyebrows, moved closer to him to whisper into his ear, "Man!, what's going on?"
Bruce shushes him to remain quiet. "Not now, Steve." Steve nodded, sat back on the couch as Bruce continued his conversation with his dad on the phone.
"Yes, Dad. I'm fine. I just got back from school, getting ready to go for the martial arts class." He said
"Alright. I'm on my way to the airport. Take care son" he hung up.
Bruce hung up the call, increases the volume for the pool party to begin. His friends arrived with their girlfriend to the house, "Welcome, guys! Enjoy the party while I go change," he said.
Some went straight to the pool while others lingered inside, drinking and playing games.
Bruce was expecting his girlfriend to arrive soon but she was running late… 6:30.
"Come on, girl don't fuck me up," he muttered, dialing her number the third time and it went straight to voicemail.
"Damn*", he slammed his phone on the bed.
Andra walked into his room, rubbed her hands on his shoulders. "I told you she wouldn't show up. She's such a local girl, I wonder why you are so worked up about her,"
Andra have been always like Bruce since she joined the college, she tried to seduce him to her side, but he never looked at her. Maybe she was not his type; a bit chubby not slim like others.
She bent over to kiss him, but Bruce pushed her away.
"Fuck off, Andra." He left the room,
Steve, noticed his mood swing and walked up to him,
"Man, what's wrong? why the sad face."
Bruce sighed, running a hand through his hair
"I don't think she would show up, man. Not answering her damn phone."
Steve tapped his shoulder, "I told you, bro. She's a jew girl, her parents won't allow her to come."
"You deserve someone who's gonna show up for you. Look at you, Dude.! You are the show," he tried to ginger him.
Bruce nodded with a smile, trying to shake off the feeling to enjoy the party.
