Chapter 4 Switching Freely Between Fierce and Gentle!
"Totally! I saw it with my own eyes!"
That was Lisa's voice; Calliope knew it right away.
Before she joined the company, Calliope's college roommate had warned her about the wild gossip in the break room. Now, she was seeing it for herself.
The voices inside kept adding more drama to the story.
Lisa snorted, "She always seems so delicate, who knew she could be such a slut!"
Someone tried to defend weakly. "Lisa, do you have any proof? Like a video or something? If not, you shouldn't say stuff like that; it could really hurt someone's reputation."
Lisa shot back, "I wouldn't record it 'cause it might tarnish my phone. Do you think I'd lie to you? It's all true."
The person didn't dare to speak up again.
At this point, Calliope stopped recording on her phone and kicked the door open! The people inside were startled to see Calliope standing there, looking a bit flustered. They had been caught bad-mouthing her behind her back.
But Lisa wasn't fazed at all. She even pushed someone aside, raised her head, and spoke with extreme arrogance,"Calliope, why aren't you groveling in front of Mr. Moore? Oh, I forgot, Mr. Moore hasn't called you in the past few days. Have you fallen out of favor? How long do you think you can keep up your act?"
"Lisa, stop it." Someone quietly patted Lisa, trying to get her to stop, as saying such things in person was pretty ugly.
But Lisa was the type who got more arrogant the more people tried to stop her!
Lisa huffed, "You do such shameless things and don't want others to talk about it?"
The others exchanged glances and slowly moved towards the door, trying to leave the eye of the storm.
But in just a few seconds, they heard a loud noise from inside, followed by Lisa's scream!
Lisa shouted, "Calliope!"
Everyone rushed back in.
They saw Lisa lying on the ground, the chair beside her overturned, its wheels helplessly spinning in the air. And Calliope was retracting her leg.
It was clear that this was all Calliope's doing.
Verbal insults and physical assault were not the same! For Calliope to dare to act so boldly, could it be that she really had something going on with Matthew?
"Oh my God, they're fighting!"
"Could they really be..."
"Oh my God, let's record it quickly..."
The surrounding chatter made Lisa's face turn red with anger!
Lisa snarled, "You dare hit me? I'm going to Mr. Moore to report you and ruin your reputation!"
Lisa had never been so humiliated since joining the company! Especially in front of so many people, how could she continue to work here?
"No need for that," Calliope said, taking out her phone and dialing a number.
Lisa felt something was wrong and quickly stood up. "Are you calling Mr. Moore? I'm telling you, you are the one who hit me first. There's surveillance here; you can't deny it!"
Calliope said as the call connected, "Hello? I'd like to report that someone is slandering me, saying I had sex with my boss in the office..."
Before she could finish, a colleague snatched away her phone and hung up. "Are you crazy, Calliope? Is this worth calling the police over?"
"She forced me." Calliope pointed at Lisa with a blank expression. "She said I had sex with Mr. Moore in the office, seriously damaging my reputation. Of course, I have to call the police."
Although Calliope and Matthew had indeed had a sexual relationship, Lisa said it was in the office, not a hotel. She wasn't lying. A female employee hurried out to report this to the top floor. After pressing the elevator button, the doors opened a few seconds later. She rushed in and bumped into a man's chest.
"What's the rush?" James held the female employee's shoulders, smiling charmingly. "Which department are you from?"
The female employee said hastily, "I'm going to see Mr. Moore."
James asked, grinning, "What's wrong? Did something big happen?"
The female employee said, "Calliope from the secretary's office and Lisa from the marketing department got into a fight over Mr. Moore, and they said they were going to call the police! I'm afraid things will get out of hand!"
After all, she was also a bystander. If things really got out of hand, everyone might get punished. She couldn't let herself get involved. But before that, she wondered...Was it her imagination, or did the man in front of her seem to smile even more?
James said with a smile, "I'll call him down; you don't need to run."
James made a call, and two minutes later, Matthew came down, looking particularly impatient.
Matthew said, "This better be important."
"Two beauties are fighting over you, and you don't even want to take a look?" James grinned mischievously, making Matthew's head hurt.
Matthew thought to himself, 'When will James ever speak properly? But two women fighting over me? This needs to be dealt with.'
On the other side, seeing more and more people gathering, Lisa, not wanting to lose face, lunged at Calliope and started fighting! But Calliope, who looked delicate, was actually very strong and quickly pinned Lisa to the ground!
In their struggle, they knocked over a table, and coffee cups shattered on the floor, one shard landing right next to Lisa.
Seeing the shard, Lisa, eyes glinted with malevolence, struggled to free one hand and grabbed the shard, aiming it at Calliope's carotid artery!
Everything happened so fast that Calliope couldn't react in time.
Just as the shard was about to pierce Calliope's neck, a hand appeared out of nowhere and grabbed Lisa's wrist. But the sharp edge of the shard still slightly pierced Calliope's skin.
A few drops of blood trickled down her neck, staining her white shirt.
Lisa calmed down shortly. She had almost committed murder! When Lisa saw who had stopped her, it was like a bomb went off in her head!
Lisa stammered, "M-Mr. Moore!"
Calliope was also stunned. From her angle, she hadn't seen who had had rescued her.
Calliope turned her head and met Matthew's indifferent eyes, though there seemed to be a deeper, more complex emotion hidden within them.
Calliope quickly got off Lisa, standing like a child who had done something wrong, her previous fierceness gone.
Knowing she couldn't defend herself against the charge of harming a colleague, Lisa tried to shift the blame onto Calliope.
Lisa wailed, prostrating at Matthew's feet, "Mr. Moore, Calliope went crazy! She barged in and knocked me and the chair over, then started hitting me. I don't even know what I did wrong."
Calliope had knocked over Lisa with her chair? How could Matthew have found out how strong the usually timid Calliope was?
Matthew turned to look at Calliope, who lowered her head even more, not saying a word in her defense.
Compared to Lisa's disheveled state, Calliope just had messy hair.
Calliope's wound was still bleeding, the red drops sliding down her neck and soaking her shirt. The shirt clung to her body, highlighting her impressive curves.
One had to admit, at that moment, Calliope had a unique charm.
