Chapter 3 Ethan, happy birthday!

Ethan felt a splitting headache, and fragments of memories seemed to burst forth. In May, the roses bloomed, filling the air with a sweet fragrance. Emily smiled and pushed him against the wall, kissing him gently.

Emily shouted hysterically, "Ethan."

He held his head. Who was calling him?

Emily's push had used all her strength. Before her mind went blank, she called out to Ethan, "Let me go."

Emily didn't know how much time had passed when suddenly there was a loud knocking on the door.

Liam had brought people. He shouted from outside, "Ethan! Are you in there? Ethan! Are you okay?"

Then a group of people broke in. Liam seemed prepared, raising his phone and snapping pictures of Emily.

Hubert was the first to react, quickly taking off his jacket to cover the bewildered Emily. He turned and slapped Liam's phone out of his hand, bellowing indignantly, "Liam! What are you doing? Delete those!"

Liam picked up his phone and gave Emily a sinister look. "Fine, I'll delete them."

Liam pulled Ethan off the ground, gave Emily a meaningful glance, and left.

Lisa Moore rushed over and grabbed Emily's hand. "Emily, are you alright?"

Emily pulled her hand back and wrapped Hubert's jacket tighter around herself. "I'm fine."

The next day, Emily went back to school alone and spent the whole day sleeping in her dorm.

That evening, as she headed to the cafeteria for dinner, she noticed people whispering and pointing at her.

Lisa called her, sounding cautious. "Emily, have you checked the school forum?"

Emily, poking at her salad without much interest, asked, "What forum?"

Lisa quickly said, "Nothing, just get some rest after dinner. Bye."

Curious, Emily opened her phone and logged into the school forum.

A post was pinned at the top.

[A Female University Student Seduced and Drugged A Man into Bed.]

The entire post was filled with photos of Emily from that night.

Emily thought, 'Ethan. Why did you have to do this? Why won't you let me explain?'

Emily clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. It was time to take a stand.

On Ethan's birthday, Emily went to the club he frequented the most.

She stood outside Ethan's private room, unsure of how to start, when she heard Hubert's voice. "Ethan, aren't you afraid you'll regret this when you get your memory back? You're being so heartless to Emily."

Emily's hand was on the doorknob, but she didn't move.

Ethan's cold voice replied, "You've seen how despicable Emily is. If you still consider me a friend, don't mention her in front of me; it's disgusting!"

Hubert's voice rose. "You insisted on marrying her. During the car accident, if Emily hadn't thrown herself on you to protect you, would you have come out unscathed? She was in a coma for two years! She's your legal wife and your lover of many years! She even saved your life! Ethan, how could you do this to her? After you posted her indecent photos on the Horizon Peak University forum, how is she supposed to live at school now? Have you thought about that?"

Ethan's indifferent voice said, "What era is this? Do we still have to repay a life-saving debt with marriage? Hubert, don't think I don't know your feelings for Emily! Are you here for her? Don't forget, today is my birthday! Emily shamelessly drugged me to sleep with me, so what's wrong with me posting her nude photos? It's just a lesson for her. And you want to talk about how much I owe her. What about her? If I hadn't taken her out of Verdant Grove back then, she would have been dead. And the Grant family has spent so much money on her over the years, what about that?"

Ethan's voice carried a strong animosity against Emily.

Yes, Emily was an obstacle to his pursuit of Amy. In Ethan's eyes, she was not only promiscuous but also malevolent. She was blocking him from pursuing true love.

The Ethan who had once openly favored Emily, who would get extremely anxious at her slightest frown, who had loved and protected her in every way, would never hurt her.

The current Emily had finally given up completely. The Ethan who had been deeply fond of her had died in that car accident and would never come back.

One male voice different from the former two in the room chimed in, "Ethan did nothing wrong; it's all on Emily. She and Ethan are history. Ethan's in love with Amy now. Emily should just let go instead of clinging on. Dragging this out is bad for everyone."

Another voice echoed, "Exactly, exactly. We should tell her to get a divorce soon; it's better for everyone. By the way, if Emily had stayed in a coma and never woke up, wouldn't that be great?"

Emily's hand on the doorknob had turned pale.

These people had seen her and Ethan's love story unfold. They had been once their mutual friends. Even strangers wouldn't be this cruel, right? Would it really be best if she never woke up, just to make everyone happy?

Emily finally made up her mind, took a deep breath, and walked into the room.

Ethan looked up at her, his brows furrowing, the disgust in his eyes clear as day.

"Emily, who let you in?" Ethan asked savagely.

Emily stared at him without blinking. "Ethan, I'm here to let you know I called the police. They will soon start investigation on the drug at the club last time, and of course, the crime you committed by posting my nude photo online without my permission."

Everyone's expressions changed instantly.

Lisa's eyes showed a hint of panic. She hurried over to Emily, trying to persuade her. "Emily, calling the police won't be good for you, Ethan, or the Grant family. Don't act impulsively. Besides, didn't the Grant family's PR already suppress this matter? Why hold on to it?"
